After the deletion of various threads on here (you know what I'm talking about) Grin

Just wondered what is the most bonkers mumsnet thread you've ever witnessed or came across?

OP posts:
alltoomuchrightnow · 27/04/2019 15:41

Just re read some of the comments -

''T-Rex as in Marc Bolan or was he pretending to be a dinosaur? I'm baffled and intrigued.''

FuzzyShadowChatter · 27/04/2019 15:42

There was one several years ago about a study or something to boost breastfeeding rates in a deprived area through support from professionals and vouchers and some people lost their everloving minds that these women were getting vouchers for taking part in this breastfeeding study.

Part of it was really nasty to these women, but also there were a bunch of bonkers posters pretty much trying to prove just how much they had sacrificed to breastfeed and that showed that they were much better mothers than the women getting the vouchers. I mean, I breastfed all four of mine and there were some hard times, but going on about hand expressing into bags and down tubes and some of the other things that were claimed to show that they were truly dedicated mums and mums who took help that was offered were horrible was just nuts. I could never wrap my head around how much hate came out from women getting vouchers.

AftonGlen · 27/04/2019 15:43

I'm not sure if it was bonkers but there was a thread recently where a poster thought Irish men only liked blondes which I found really funny. Some of the replies were hilarious. I'm sure the OP used examples of men who weren't even Irish and wouldn't take on board other posters' examples of Irish men who weren't with blondes, it was daft!!

BorisBadunov · 27/04/2019 15:44

The thread that got me hooked to MN was actually really harmless. It was about 10 years ago.

The OP was asking for advice about relocating her toddler DD’s imaginary friend/monster. The imaginary monster lived in OP’s sock, and she wanted him to move to the sugar bowl.

It was deliciously batshit.

Maui, TRex, Sharon, Sistine chapel, Yoni (especially the name changes) and Balonz were all good fun too.

Summersunshine2 · 27/04/2019 15:46

The fact that I recognise so many of these shows I spend too much time on mumsnet!
YY to the Sistine chapel - I was in tears with that one.
Centre Parcs, beautiful child going around town on his horse and even the local football team were fans of him, snapped and farted, roasted badger, there are so many!
I keep thinking of a lemon slicer one but can't quite remember what it was?
There's also another one that I read on holiday that was so funny but I can't remember - that will annoy me all day now!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 27/04/2019 15:47

It might still be on going

Deleted, alas!

She was also the wall banger with the neighbours who selfishly used the stairs rather than silently abseiling from the window.

TheGlaikitRambler · 27/04/2019 15:50

The first batshit thread I read on MN was the parent who wanted to allow her son to take his giant supersoaker gun to another kid's birthday party! She just could not see how it was unreasonable.

BorisBadunov · 27/04/2019 15:52

The one with the OP who tried to surprise her DH by suddenly appearing topless in her kitchen, only to realise that her DH was there with the plumber, who was married to OP’s hairdresser?

N2986 · 27/04/2019 15:52

Phyllis! I miss Phyllis. Was she real or a troll? Did she have the baby?

longtimelurkerhelen · 27/04/2019 15:52

Fishslice and lube.... anyone?

BorisBadunov · 27/04/2019 15:53

@TheGlaikitrambler, I thought that was viral advertising for supersoakers

InsertFunnyUsername · 27/04/2019 15:55

Not so much bat shit, but i found it funny and made me Grin

I can't remember all the details but a poster asked something about a baby product/pram and asked for reviews, she didn't get any replies, i think it was a couple years later when she answered her own question 🤣 "Hi OP, yes i bought this"

Posters made her aware she was talking to herself 😂 Only something small but i still remember it and Smile

RozyRoz · 27/04/2019 15:58

Teeth in the washing machine.

TheGlaikitRambler · 27/04/2019 15:58

The Korean grandmother in the garden.

TheDarkPassenger · 27/04/2019 16:00

The one where the op ruined the game for me after 20 years

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 27/04/2019 16:01

Snapped and farted - I love that one
Sistine Chapel - still makes me cry laughing
Husband who ate the fat ball - just the best thing ever.

Just read Slithery the Baby 😂 Have now renamed my DC in similar Native American tradition. They are now Snot Bubble Wrinkly Face and Pouty Lips Screams A Lot.

ooooohbetty · 27/04/2019 16:02

Just read the Sistine chapel screamer and Trex. Hilarious. I've been laughing my head off.

youarenotkiddingme · 27/04/2019 16:03

Lemon drizzle was also one that made me laugh!

And the poster who had been given a save the date card for a wedding and the. Wasn't invited (can't remember if to any or just some) but friend wanted them to help decorate the hall.

IggyAce · 27/04/2019 16:05

There was a post that didn’t want people buying her dcs anything with dinosaurs on because they never existed.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 27/04/2019 16:09

Found it: Slithery the Baby!

You bastard Skettles - putting a link!

I've actually pissed myself here!

Aquamarine1029 · 27/04/2019 16:09

I can't stop laughing about the Sistine Screamer! I'd pay a lot of money to see her in action.

AuldJosey · 27/04/2019 16:10

@InsertFunnyUsername
I remember that. It was funny, yet tragic...

PortiaCastis · 27/04/2019 16:12

This one is hilarious the OP spray painted a pigeon

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/1465377-To-throw-water-over-a-pigeon-Ive-just-spray-painted

alltoomuchrightnow · 27/04/2019 16:13

What was the one about the child who went round town on his horse? Don't remember that one...

BorisBadunov · 27/04/2019 16:13

Gluezilla! That was a good one.

I spend too much time here.
