BlueSuedeStiletto · 27/04/2019 03:30

2 year old asleep in a cot they can't get out of. Needed to pop to the shops. 10 minutes away if that, child asleep the whole time, doors locked etc. Friend is horrified. WIBU?

No

Spencersarc · 28/04/2019 17:28

Not only are you being very irresponsible I think this may also be illegal.
I won’t even go to our local shop next door to our house where a baby monitor would still pick up. I think you may need to get some common Sense.

SirGawain · 28/04/2019 17:29

Don't do It!

gillyflower9 · 28/04/2019 17:30

10 minutes away, then 10 minutes back and time to shop........ But that’s irrelevant. You ARE being completely and absolutely unreasonable.

mrshousty · 28/04/2019 17:30

OH MY GOD

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR TREE???

you could het arrested for that... and that would be the least of your worries. What if something happened to you while you were out and your poor baby was left to fend for themselves?

I know most would say what would happen to baby but the above too...

There are laws for this for a reason.

Also could you live with yourself if anything happened?

I couldn't!

Pk37 · 28/04/2019 17:32

It won’t be 10 mins though ,it’ll be 10 there , 5 mins in shop and 10 back.
Not a chance in hell

Amaksy · 28/04/2019 17:32

I hope this isn’t your confession. This isn’t a AIBU issue it’s not right and if you need more guidance there’s this site www.gov.uk/law-on-leaving-your-child-home-alone

wisemummy · 28/04/2019 17:32

Sorry , but its not worth it . Many children have died when left for 10 minutes

Winniethepee · 28/04/2019 17:33

Definitely,100% not. Please don't be so irresponsible.

Emz · 28/04/2019 17:33

Please, please, please do not ever leave your two year-old baby alone like this. Here are some guidelines.

awesomeness · 28/04/2019 17:34

Yeah.....that's stupid, the fact you've had the ask....even more stupid.

mum21xo · 28/04/2019 17:35

Stupid thought to even come into your head

caringcarer · 28/04/2019 17:37

What do you need so urgently you can't wait until your baby wakes up and take them to shop with you? If you were hit by a car on the way to shop, no one would know your baby was locked in home alone. You don't sound like a responsible parent. Children should never be left home alone. Everyone knows it is not safe. If you have to get something urgently then wake baby up and take with you.

FLO1984Mumtobe · 28/04/2019 17:37

I’m not even a mum yet and I can’t believe someone would even consider this. Very disappointing. If you have done this I hope you never do it again and listen to the comments that have been left.

FastLane46 · 28/04/2019 17:37

Wtf!!! No you should never leave a child unattended, especially one that young.

Do you know what can happen in 10 minutes? A lot!

KEF411 · 28/04/2019 17:41

Remember Madeline McCann.

Greenwichgirl25 · 28/04/2019 17:41

Haven't read all the responses but you have to consider what if she did choke, fall, climb etc OR something happens to you when you're out? Traffic accident, emergency etc. Just not worth it although I see it's tempting.

PillowTalker · 28/04/2019 17:43

No, not in a million years and I'm a pretty casual parent

Latteaday123 · 28/04/2019 17:48

Anything could happen to YOU while you're out. Then you've left your baby alone for longer than expected. I defo would never do this

ClaireScot · 28/04/2019 17:48

What do you need from the shop that can't wait?

smurphy18 · 28/04/2019 17:49

Omg, are you being serious you need to even ask this question?!
Its child neglected and you could be reported to social services for leaving your child unattended regardless of child sleeping. Anything could of happened in the time you were away. No matter how urgent it is to go out you should never leave your child at home alone!
if you friend is anything of a decent human being she would report you to social services for child neglect in the best interests of your child.

Lou12124 · 28/04/2019 17:49

Shocking. No other words for it.

cdtaylornats · 28/04/2019 17:50

Are you ever in the kitchen or the toilet or in bed asleep for 10 minutes without your eyes on your child?

What makes those 10 minutes essentially less dangerous?

Jessie94 · 28/04/2019 17:50

Absolutely not!
I can't believe you're even asking this!
Parents get their child removed from their care for doing this.

Why can't you just take the toddler with you?
In a pushchair or carrier if they can't walk?

bevelino · 28/04/2019 17:51

This is a wind up or a troll.
