Male teacher STILL making toilet pass dd wait , what next?!

I've posted about this before.
DD has a toilet pass both for bladder and dysmenorrhoea/flooding.
She is on medication for both.

I have actually complained three times now on different levels as she is either being stopped from going, argued with for ten minutes about why she shouldn't go or made to wait until someone else comes back (even though toilets are individual cubicles on to the corridor near reception like disabled toilets so not like they can mess about.

I've even checked there is no concern about her going when she doesn't need to and there's not.

DD has also let slip that she doesn't like to go at break even when she does need to go then because the boys have figured how to open the doors and push them open when staff aren't there.

I've complained formally already. I've been told all staff will be reminded and also the staff member will be spoken to.

What next?!

If the SENDCO has done her job properly your DD should have at least three passes. One medical, one for the toilet and a ‘time out ‘ card for when she’s feeling overwhelmed. I’m also concerned that your DD isn’t on the schools SENDCO register. This is a document that is given to all teaching staff that has the details of any students with additional needs and strategies and information on how to help and support them. It’s updated regularly throughout the academic year.
Where I teach everyone has a folder with this information in it and we have to keep all the previous documents for the year.
I keep mine in a locked filing cabinet to ensure confidentiality.
The info is also on SIMS or G4C or whatever registration and data gathering system a school uses.
There is absolutely no reason ,if all systems are being adhered to by the school and this teacher ,that your DD should be experiencing such blatant bullying and sexual discrimination.
My DD Godmother is HT at a PRU and has sacked a male and female member of staff for ignoring the medical needs of students in the past.

God, this makes me so angry. Your poor daughter. I can’t believe how many times you’ve had to raise this. I agree: write a letter to the head and governors. It’s a medical condition: is this teacher stupid or something?

Phineyj · 23/04/2019 22:01

I am a teacher and it would be entirely reasonable for a member of staff to patrol the area outside the toilets. That is a completely normal part of break duty! The school sounds negligent just for not doing this, never mind all the other stuff. Would the names of governors be listed on the most recent Ofsted report?

underneaththeash · 23/04/2019 22:10

DS has a problem with his feet and can’t run for more than a couple of hundred metres without being in pain fir the following few days. He also won’t say anything, but I’ve printed out the last email, had it signed by the school nurse and laminated it and DS gives it to the teacher if they ask him to run.

Fr3d · 23/04/2019 22:13

Every single time he delays or stops her, request a meeting (in writing) with the teacher and the head teacher.

Make a formal complaint.

And also make a formal complaint about the boys opening the toilet doors.

I'm reading Bully-Proof Kids by Stella O'Malley at the moment and there are some good tips in it with dealing with schools (and even bullying teachers)

SandyY2K · 23/04/2019 22:18

Write to the headteacher, the chair of governors and the LEA....

I honestly don't understand this, as I'd be at that school requesting a meeting with the teacher concerned.

As a school governor myself, I would absolutely take this to the highest authority. I'm appalled this is happening...ad I recall your previous thread.

You need to be more assertive here and be given assurances the teacher will be spoken to... although as I said...I'd be asking for a meeting to speak directly to him.

64sNewName · 23/04/2019 22:20

Oh wow. I’m horrified that your dd is still having issues with this power-tripping creep.

ElGuardiandenoche · 23/04/2019 22:21

I wonder if the door opening could be couched as sexual assault?

Good luck with the head and the safeguarding officer.

Pieceofpurplesky · 23/04/2019 22:52

As others have said use the term 'Formal
Safeguarding Complaint'. Straight to headteacher and copy to governor.

SkaTastic · 23/04/2019 22:54

Request a face to face meeting with this teacher, the head and the SENDCo and explain IN EXTREMELY CLEAR TERMS that what he is doing is against the law, discriminatory and disgusting.

I am horrified for your daughter honestly I would be boiling.

DoveBlue · 23/04/2019 23:02

This might not be a good idea but a rubber door stop in her bag might help her feel safe enough to use toilet at break (assuming door opens inwards) would mean even if unlocked couldn't open easily by some toerag! Obviously also means in emergency can't open door . . . So you would need to be happy with this risk

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 23/04/2019 23:05

I'd be asking the head if they are happy that this man seems to get his kicks from causing major embarrassment to your child and why he seems determined to make her wee or bleed in public.

This.

longwayoff · 24/04/2019 10:07

Make a formal complaint. Teach your daughter to command the situation by showing her pass and stating "I'm going to loo" and leaving the room. Asking for permission just gives an opportunity for opposition. Hope things improve.

Weenurse · 24/04/2019 10:57

I also remember your previous thread.
Good luck with this 💐

ElectricDreamz · 24/04/2019 11:03

Agree with everything viques said. I'm sure my dcs' comp would come down on behaviour like that like a ton of bricks with either internal or external exclusion

QueenBeex · 24/04/2019 11:18

I think I would withdraw her from the class. Tell her to go to reception for his lessons and ask for work to be sent down to her

^^ this !!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/04/2019 13:09

Teach your daughter to command the situation by showing her pass and stating "I'm going to loo" and leaving the room.

This could be a good idea of longwayoff's.

You could practise at home with different family members and friends, perhaps with the "teacher" being obstructive, so that your DD gets comfortable with saying. "I am going to the toilet" very firmly, and walking past them.

As others have said, he cannot physically prevent her - if he even puts a hand on her arm, he has assaulted her and will be answerable.

It's dreadful to have to teach a child to defy someone in authority , but in this sort of situation it must be done.

This teacher is a nasty, vindictive bully. He shouldn't be in this sort of profession at all by the sound of things.

trickyex · 24/04/2019 16:11

I agree with the last few posts. I hope this gets resolved OP, really bad situation for your DD.

MrsBethel · 24/04/2019 16:51

Follow the school complaints procedure. If you can't find one, then ask for one. Make it clear it is a safeguarding issue.

Also, although polite to ask first, make sure your daughter knows that if he says 'no' it is okay to ignore this teacher and just leave the room to go. As long as she stays calm in word and deed, the only two possible outcomes are no problem at all, or him putting his job at risk.

Almostfifty · 25/04/2019 10:40

Have you heard anything yet OP?

lunar1 · 26/04/2019 12:05

I hope you've got this sorted out and your DD has been reassured her needs will be met by the school.

Candleglow7475 · 26/04/2019 12:44

This makes me so bloody angry. My DS has a toilet pass due to bowel issues and a teacher PHYSICALLY BLOCKED him from leaving the class Room when he showed his pass and insisted he had to leave - as she said the pass was a forgery, despite 10 kids backing him up saying it wasn’t and his offers to go next door to get a teacher to confirm it. I went bloody nuts at the school and got the teacher to apologise to him. I think the only solution to this is a formal safeguarding complaint where you go nuclear on it.

RedHelenB · 26/04/2019 13:42

Are there no disabled toilets she could use at break times to get round worrying about anyone opening them

I teach in a lot of schools and cant think of any where this would be an issue with a pass.

Flooding · 27/04/2019 09:49

It's being dealt with.
RedHelen the toilets are all disabled toilets.
Apparently the teacher is fed up of kids going to the toilet in his lesson.

Unfortunately he has a lesson which is prime time for the kids who have had a drink at lunch time and have bladder issues.

Apparently the teacher is fed up of kids going to the toilet in his lesson.

Well, that's tough, isn't it? She has a pass for valid reasons. End of. I really hope they kick him into touch.
