To think long painted nails look unattractive

I am prepared to be shot down in flames but when I look at long painted nails on anyone I just think they look ugly and claw like. I just don’t get why anyone would spend money to make their hands look like that. I think short or medium length painted nails look nice but not long ones.

You seem quite put out by the criticism on this thread.

Not really, just replying to posts Grin

PhillipeFellope · 23/04/2019 17:29

And ironically, I haven't actually got any false nails on Grin

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 23/04/2019 17:31

Not keen. They make fat fingers look fatter. I didn't like French tips either for the same reason. However each to their own.

Redglitter · 23/04/2019 17:40

It’s the cost and time that irritates me. How have people got the time to sit for 2.5 hours to have them done?

Takes nowhere near that. Infills take just under an hour. I had mine properly removed then redone last week - took less than 2 hours, but that only gets done about every 3 months

I'm more concerned about where a person gets to have their nails done given that nail bars are thought to be one of the places where modern slavery exists.

Jodie571 · 23/04/2019 18:01

I’m with you, nails should be natural, I rarely even paint mine. It’s all just too much effort for what it is worth IMO.

I also don’t like long nails it looks too try hard, sorry but sticking stuff to your nails is not the look I’d go for personally

Chloemol · 23/04/2019 18:07

And no doubt some who have them and love them could find something rude to say about you. How boring would the world be if we all looked the same, acted the same, behaved the same. Each to their own I say

PrincessTiggerlily · 23/04/2019 18:14

I can't believe they are clean. I like to scrub with a good nailbrush - I don't believe that people who have fannied around having nails painted/glued ever give them a scrub.

Biancadelrioisback · 23/04/2019 18:18

I had my nails done regularly until I couldn't justify the expense anymore. I wear press on nails for big events and always try to grow mine long but they are really thin and brittle.
If you don't like them, don't get them. Don't insult those that do

PocaMiseria · 23/04/2019 18:38

@Biancadelrioisback
Ever wondered why your nails are weak and brittle? Having seen how healthy nails are "sandpapered" to make gel stick it wouldn't surprise me if there were a cause- effect relationship, but of course no manicurist who wanted your regular custom would actually tell you that.

LunaLovesgood · 23/04/2019 18:41

I love my acrylics Grin currently have coffin blue/white ombre that got infilled on Saturday. They're my one treat and pretty much the only "me" time I get is when I go get them done.

I can't get my head around people actually caring what others have done to their nails. But to be fair I have a shed tone of tattoos too and baby pink hair at the moment. Live and let live.

Nicknacky · 23/04/2019 18:42

My nails are never sandpapered. When I do (rarely) have my own nails they are in great condition.

And I certainly don’t go to one of those awful nail bars in my town. I do judge people that do though!

rosevioletlily · 23/04/2019 18:42

I agree OP but again, only with acrylics. Vile

Nicknacky · 23/04/2019 18:46

rose What’s your opinion on my nails on the previous page?

People are so keen to say acrylics are vile but no one yet has commented on my nails.

rosevioletlily · 23/04/2019 18:47

Not something I’d choose

Nicknacky · 23/04/2019 18:49

But vile? Colour isn’t my norm, I usually have French.

rosevioletlily · 23/04/2019 18:52

In all fairness, your nails look quite natural! It’s the long talon-like acrylics that lots of people seem to have nowadays that I think OP was referring to! Very Kardashian-esque. Fair play, your nails look real

PinkieTuscadero · 23/04/2019 18:53

They're no good if you have a partner who likes a finger up the bum.

Nicknacky · 23/04/2019 18:54

That’s my exact point throughout this thread which has been repeatedly ignored. Posters are taking about the long things, all people I know who get arcylics get similar to me and my nail girl wouldn’t entertain doing the long pointed look.

Nicknacky · 23/04/2019 18:55

pinkie I’ve never had any complaints with that!

rosevioletlily · 23/04/2019 18:56

Fair enough but OP was specifically referring to the long ones being ugly, not medium ones like yours that look more natural

FakeUp · 23/04/2019 18:56

Repulsvie to look at plus men getting women to exploit other women working in modern slavery

PhillipeFellope · 23/04/2019 18:57

I can't believe they are clean. I like to scrub with a good nailbrush - I don't believe that people who have fannied around having nails painted/glued ever give them a scrub.

But why!? Where is the correlation between getting your nails done and not being clean!? I scrub my toddlers nails with a nail brush, of course I'm going to do my own top.

Nicknacky · 23/04/2019 18:58

rose The conversation did move on to general arcylics
