For things that are agreed as gospel on MN

I'll start: I like dressing my kids in matching outfits and I really enjoy a Butlins holiday

I also don't think Nevaeh is that bad

OP posts:

the McCanns should be pitied

Rarfy · 22/04/2019 20:02

Dp not coming home from a night out is not a problem as they are an adult. I will never get this one.

SachaStark · 22/04/2019 20:03

Isolation rooms in secondary schools are very much needed, and if you don’t think so, you haven’t worked in a secondary school.

x2boys · 22/04/2019 20:03

Yeah I don't get the angst over money for wedding presents, most people have lived with their partner before marrying these days they don't need 15 toasters , I don't mind giving a contribution for their honeymoon,.

tanpestryfirescreen · 22/04/2019 20:04

Home schooling is not answer to not being allocated the school that you want.

SachaStark · 22/04/2019 20:05

Having children first, then getting married, is the “wrong way round” in my head. Not for religious reasons, I just think it’s the untidy way of doing things.

Soontobe60 · 22/04/2019 20:05

I can't wait to stop work and be a housewife!
White Range Rover Evoques are horrible cars that most people only have on lease whilst pretending they can afford to buy them.
No one needs to live in a house where there are more bedrooms and bathrooms than people.
Plastic grass is hideous.
Giving your under 16 yr old child a mobile phone makes them more vulnerable rather than less as they are likely to be mugged for it, or to be bullied online.

brizzlemint · 22/04/2019 20:05

I think Jacob Rees Mogg is a good future prime minister.

LunafortJest · 22/04/2019 20:05

Agree to disagree there @AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo, the sooner it is brought back, (and I believe it will be eventually, because it's now more than obvious that outlawing it has been a monumental failure), the better for society and for our children also. Whenever I doubt myself on this, I read stories on here or from parents and teachers, and believe it even more strongly than I did before.

Mummymummums · 22/04/2019 20:07

I believe that play dates should be reciprocated. I'm not free childcare and my DC like a change of scenery too.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 22/04/2019 20:07

Checking your partner's phone doesn't make you psycho. Nosey, maybe.

It's pronounced preemark because that's what they called it back in the 70s/80s when it first opened in Belfast. I don't give a shiny shit if some tube on their website says differently. Their own jingle sung the truth.

It's perfectly fine to not breastfeed because you don't want to. Being able to ensure everyone gets some sleep and your baby is getting enough milk are serious advantages for everyone.

Also agree with pp about self settling. Really important skill. Go to bed happy, wake up happy. Bottles help.

Tesco is a great place. I miss Tesco direct. And the double points events at Christmas.

Abortion may be a woman's right, but it still makes me very uncomfortable and sad.

DeftandGlory · 22/04/2019 20:07

No is not a complete sentence and I find "that doesn't work for us, sorry" a longer, slightly passive aggressive variant.

Dogs are not biting machines.Children learning how to treat/cope withother species to their own is important domesticated or wild.

Middle Class is not an aspiration. Its just a way to lump the people with money but no original thought together.

Meghan Markle isn’t particularly beautiful.

Fleabag is ok. A bit hammy in places.

JaneEyre07 · 22/04/2019 20:08

Trans women are not women. They are men who chose to live like women. And we need to stop tiptoeing round it and speak the truth. How anyone lives is up to them but don't affect my life with it.

People who can't afford kids shouldn't have them. Likewise people who have kids and shove them in nurseries from birth.

LunafortJest · 22/04/2019 20:09

@SachaStark Totally agree with that one, too. Ironically I'm politically centre yet 'old-fashioned' on these sorts of things.

tanpestryfirescreen · 22/04/2019 20:09

Kate Middleton is not a role model for any young girl or woman.

Notrusthere · 22/04/2019 20:09

50/50 custody is a bad idea. Children should have 1 primary home to feel secure.

It's not cruel to have a dog if you work.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/04/2019 20:10

I have a toilet brush and I'm not afraid to use it.

I do not have any sex toys in my bedside cabinet. Or anywhere else.

Moominfan · 22/04/2019 20:11

I can't abide spending hundreds or sometimes thousands on a dog that can't even breath.

Beyoncé is over rated.

AhhhHereItGoes · 22/04/2019 20:11

Not every man is a sexist, hidden paedophile with a huge ego and no empathy (I have had a lot of bad experiences with men but honestly, not everyone is the same).

I don't think cheaters are always going to be cheaters - yes many will do it again but some may have been very young/suffering difficulties or grief etc it's not always as clear cut.

Step parents aren't always in the wrong. I am not nor have U got step parents but do know a few who have been given unfair rap. Also assuming automatically they were the OW is a bit pathetic.

Pineapple is amazing on pizza. Also with gammon steak.

Just because someone chooses to live their life differently and it's not harming others, I don't see I have any right to sneer at them.

Not all Brexiters are immigrant hating, working classs hooligans. Likewise, not all Remainers are far left, progressive types.

Gin is vile - give me Malibu instead.

Roussette · 22/04/2019 20:12

Child free weddings are far more fun than one with loads of bored kids running around.

It's normal to answer the door. And the telephone. And there is nothing wrong with sending a text late at night or early in the morning. Turn your bloody phone off or put it on silent!

There's nothing wrong with sleep training.

It's normal not to wash everything that touches your skin daily. Towels are drying clean bodies, they don't need washing after one use.

Dongdingdong · 22/04/2019 20:13

It’s completely possible to live in London on a combined salary of less than 60k and have a very decent life.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 22/04/2019 20:13

It's ok to give up breast feeding and you don't have to see a breast feeding coach or whatever they are called if you don't feel like it. Bottles are fine!
That Bercow bloke is definitely not hot. Sorry !

HarryElephante · 22/04/2019 20:14

Letting babies cry themselves to sleep is abuse.

Wedding presents are grabby for the most part

Soaps are awful.

chocolateworshipper · 22/04/2019 20:14

I think my 18 year old is a teenager, not a fully grown adult who should have moved out, Live his life, without any help, opinion or input from me.

Amen to this
