For things that are agreed as gospel on MN

I'll start: I like dressing my kids in matching outfits and I really enjoy a Butlins holiday

I also don't think Nevaeh is that bad

Gin is shit (or at least going on about gin is shit, the same as going on about prosecco was a few years back). Get a life!

It’s kind of... fine? Like I might want a G&T but I definitely don’t want a bag telling you about how I want a G&T!

fluorescentorange · 22/04/2019 19:54

Upthepong
Don’t worry, as Rum will be the new Gin this summer😂

JacquesHammer · 22/04/2019 19:54

The elf on the shelf is cruel, it is not acceptable for anyone to watch you and report back so that you might not get gifts

With you totally!

It’s perfectly ok for single women to have children without a father being in the picture - a male role model whilst desirous doesn’t need to be the biological father

AlwaysFuckingTired94 · 22/04/2019 19:55

Who gives a fuck if someone talks about the "gender" of their baby

OP posts:
LunafortJest · 22/04/2019 19:55

I very strongly believe in corporal punishment and believe it should be brought back into schools.

Thatsnotmyotter · 22/04/2019 19:55

Chances are you probably could breastfeed but you got really shitty support and advice and our culture doesn’t lend itself to successful breastfeeding. You were failed, your body wasn’t the problem.

Upthepong · 22/04/2019 19:56

Thatsnotmyotter it's like the Pimms of yore! I don't care what you drink and I don't need a bloody photo every time you have a glass of it. Grin

AlwaysFuckingTired94 · 22/04/2019 19:56

It's possible that his ex was crazy

Following on from EOTS (completely agree, FWIW) - the investment of some parents in belief in Santa/Father Christmas, their aggression towards anyone who threatens it, inadvertently or otherwise, and their mourning of its passing are all quite extraordinary, and not in a good way.

ticketsonsalenow · 22/04/2019 19:57

Anyone who thinks that £100k a year isn't actually all that much is a complete pillock who is entirely unable to manage money properly.

Blibbyblobby · 22/04/2019 19:57

+1 to evening invitations! I've never felt insulted to get one, it means "You may not be one of my close friends, but you're someone I like so come and enjoy my party!"

tanpestryfirescreen · 22/04/2019 19:57

Complaining to Ofsted isn't a response to a row/being upset with a school. There is really very little that you can complain to Ofsted about and usually only after you have been through the full school and LA complaint process.

blacksax · 22/04/2019 19:57

Child-free weddings are awful.

Girlicorne · 22/04/2019 19:58

I love a Butlins holiday! and Haven. In fact I think Center Parcs is just a very overpriced Haven. And I change our bed sheets once a month. We sleep in there in clean nightwear, they don't get dirty!!!

Never found a chicken that feeds five thousand for a week.

Grandparents aren't there to provide free childcare.

Being overweight shouldn't be normalised and it's fine for a partner to mention weight.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 22/04/2019 19:59

I don’t have a running away fund; I don't believe that it is inevitable that my husband is going to cheat on me; I iron (and quite enjoy it); I like Pandora jewellery; I like Radley handbags; I like being addressed as Mrs DH First name, shared surname; I like relaxing in a hot tub; I think (most) teachers, police, fireservice etc are worth their weight in gold and work very hard.

I probably shouldn’t be on Mumsnet 😮

Your MIL probably doesn't have Narcissistic Personality Disorder

SkaTastic · 22/04/2019 19:59

Taking pictures of your kids and sticking them on social media is totally fine.

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 22/04/2019 20:00

Bloody hell, LunafortJest Shock Calling that an unpopular opinion is an understatement. FWIW, my potentially unpopular opinion in that regard is that the sooner all violence against children, including the euphemistic 'smacking' or [shudder] 'tapping', is properly outlawed and treated with the contempt it merits, the better.

SachaStark · 22/04/2019 20:00

Houses with no books/books only used for a bit of decoration look fucking soulless.

Tiredmum100 · 22/04/2019 20:00

I feel sorry for the Prime Minister.

FuckingDelightful · 22/04/2019 20:01

Sometimes the wife/girlfriend/ex or mother is the one in the wrong.

nrpmum · 22/04/2019 20:01

Spending your free time with your husband is a good thing
