To ask WTH happened to me?

LeukaeLucky · 22/04/2019 09:56

Hi mumsnetters
The weirdest thing happened to me last night and I'm hoping to get some reassurance or guidance on what it could be.
So I'm about to go to bed but realise I have forgotten to take the clothes from the washing machine out.
I'm getting to the kitchen and my legs start feeling really heavy like I'm about to faint. I decide to not take any risk and lie down on the kitchen floor. My whole body feels heavy. I call my oldest daughter (14) to help me stand. I try to get up but I literally feel like I'm weighing 200 tonnes
Even talking feels difficult
She encourages me to sit but my left side feels even heavier than the rest of my body so every time I manage to sit I fall down on my left side. I end up soiling myself and somehow manage to stand and shower. I then go to the toilet and bang my head on the sink my entire body weight seems to be going toward my left
I ended up managing to go to bed with the help of my oldest child but I'm freaking out. What was that? Why couldn't I lift my body up? Shall I see a gp tomorrow?
TiA

100% go to A&E

RebeccaCloud9 · 22/04/2019 10:40

Did you also have stomach pain before soiling yourself? The first time I had an IBS attack, I felt weird all over like that then passed out from the pain, felt better after going to the loo but weak and shaky.

speakfriendandenter · 22/04/2019 10:41

My friend who turned 30 this year has been having strokes for a few years. She was very confused after her first and went to work as normal. Thankfully her boss forced her to go to the hospital.
She's now on lots of medication and has regular check ups. Luckily she's had no serious lasting damage, but each time it happens she has to go straight to hospital to ensure it hasn't gotten worse & that her body is healing on its own.
Please go to hospital, I'd ring for advice. You may find it difficult to drive so a taxi or ambulance would be advised!

TigersRoll · 22/04/2019 10:44

Could be a number of things but TIA/stroke sounds the most obvious. You should be in A&E already. If you can’t get there, ring an ambulance. Exaggerate your current state if you have to. I would. (Health professional here and I’d call 999, say what happened last night and then add that my left side still feels weak and not right)

Dippypippy1980 · 22/04/2019 10:46

Get medical help now.

It could be a stroke (which can happen at any age).

They will want to rule it our. Could be a silent miagraine. But you need a diagnosis.

Bettyspants · 22/04/2019 10:47

Op I am very much hoping that you've called 999. I've seen several strokes in young patients. While this may not be a stroke it would be top of my list to exclude. For anyone else debating calling 999 with concerning symptoms please just dial 999. We have a vital 4 hour window for thrombolising treatment.

Offallycheap · 22/04/2019 10:47

A&E now now now!

My friend had a stroke recently. She is still in hospital, she’s 32.

Nameusernameuser · 22/04/2019 10:47

Oh my gosh OP, another saying A and E now!

Pppppppp1234 · 22/04/2019 10:47

Hope your ok OP lets us know that you have rung 111

Pppppppp1234 · 22/04/2019 10:48

Or 999

Moondancer73 · 22/04/2019 10:48

I went out with a lad many moons ago who was 22 and had had a severe stroke so most definitely possible. Please go get checked.

U2HasTheEdge · 22/04/2019 11:01

I am shocked you didn't call 999 last night. I hope you are on the way to A&E. Please don't leave it.

Baconking · 22/04/2019 11:02

Please go to hospital immediately!

My friend died of a brain bleed 2 weeks ago aged 34. No previous symptoms

stressedoutpa · 22/04/2019 11:05

Ring 999. Could be a stroke in which case you need urgent help.

Hope you are okay, op.

NorthEndGal · 22/04/2019 11:07

Get yourself to a dr quick like

Verbena37 · 22/04/2019 11:09

Best to go to A &E but as well as a stroke, it could be something like a seizure, ear infection/balance issue or heart related.

Yabbers · 22/04/2019 11:11

My droid doesn’t had a stroke at 26. It can happen.

Yabbers · 22/04/2019 11:11

Droid?? Friend, obviously. My droid is fine 😂

Jux · 22/04/2019 11:13

How are you today? Is your body returned to normal or is there residual heaviness or pain? How are your fingers and toes? Can you hold a pen and write?

I hope you're at A&E and at least been triaged, if not having scan. It's not necessarily a stroke, there are other things, but that would be among the first for ruling out.

Smudggle · 22/04/2019 11:14

As others have said, stroke would be my main concern. My friend had a stroke at 31 years of age so it can and does happen. Thankfully she made a full recovery.

Please get immediate help.

Fiveredbricks · 22/04/2019 11:15

You need to call an ambulance. Even now. And tell them you think you've had a stroke. Because that is exactly what it sounds like. If it is and you dont get the bleed or clot under control now OP your daughter wont have a mother in a few days. If this is genuine, stop being so bloody stupid and phone them.

Brefugee · 22/04/2019 11:18

2 of my friends had strokes - 35 and 33. Get it checked now.

RosaWaiting · 22/04/2019 11:26

I hope you're not still reading OP but if you

call 999 NOW.

LeukaeLucky · 22/04/2019 11:28

On my way to A&E feeling silly really. Didn't realise it could be so serious. My daughter did want to call an ambulance but didn't know how to. Should have taught her that now I realise. No excuse for my silliness but we've been through a rough year with my health so was hoping it was just fatigue.
Thanks anyway for the advice

Please get checked OP. My mum had possibly 2 or more TIA's before finally having a large stroke. She was left unable to speak, and walk.
