To ask WTH happened to me?

Hi mumsnetters
The weirdest thing happened to me last night and I'm hoping to get some reassurance or guidance on what it could be.
So I'm about to go to bed but realise I have forgotten to take the clothes from the washing machine out.
I'm getting to the kitchen and my legs start feeling really heavy like I'm about to faint. I decide to not take any risk and lie down on the kitchen floor. My whole body feels heavy. I call my oldest daughter (14) to help me stand. I try to get up but I literally feel like I'm weighing 200 tonnes
Even talking feels difficult
She encourages me to sit but my left side feels even heavier than the rest of my body so every time I manage to sit I fall down on my left side. I end up soiling myself and somehow manage to stand and shower. I then go to the toilet and bang my head on the sink my entire body weight seems to be going toward my left
I ended up managing to go to bed with the help of my oldest child but I'm freaking out. What was that? Why couldn't I lift my body up? Shall I see a gp tomorrow?
TiA

So we are saying stroke and you're going to call 111? Hmm

cariadlet · 22/04/2019 10:06

Another one saying A and E. I'd phone 999. It reminds me of when my FIL had a stroke.

LeukaeLucky · 22/04/2019 10:07

@dizzyphilips I felt weak all over but heavier on one side if that makes sense

patchisagoodpup · 22/04/2019 10:07

Clearly not everyone can type that fast, Boobs 🙄

LagunaBubbles · 22/04/2019 10:08

I would think your DD will be more scared that you didn't seek medical help! I can't get over that.

ExtraordinaryOddity · 22/04/2019 10:08

Stroke or some kind of seizure, you need to get checked out.

Thelineisadottoyou · 22/04/2019 10:09

999 absolutely. If it is a stroke the sooner you get medication the less damage is caused.

cheeseypizza · 22/04/2019 10:09

Sounds like a stroke. 999.

Omzlas · 22/04/2019 10:10

A&E. Now. Stop wasting time with MN and 111. Classic stroke symptoms.

Hope you're ok OP

Serin · 22/04/2019 10:10

Well it's a good sign that you are able to type, if it was a stroke at least it does not seem to have affected your cognitive ability (beyond the fact that you should have sought help immediately). I would ring 111 now.

ohfourfoxache · 22/04/2019 10:12

A&E IMMEDIATELY

Chocmallows · 22/04/2019 10:12

Can a friend or neighbour take you to A&E now?

You shouldn't drive, but need medical checks.

Cutcrease · 22/04/2019 10:18

What everyone says. If you’ve not already gone to A&E go right now. 33 is not too young for a stroke. Hope you’re ok

Nanna50 · 22/04/2019 10:22

999 right now, you have symptoms of a stroke and time is crucial. My friend had this and her DH called 999 immediately she was very quickly scanned and treated, they administered thrombylosis to disperse the clot which had caused a stroke. She is not old, does not smoke or have any of the other risk indicators.

AFistfulofDolores1 · 22/04/2019 10:22

Stroke. Go to A&E NOW.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 22/04/2019 10:24

The fact that you find now and can type does NOT exclude a stroke.
It is not unusual for a person to suffer a serious of small strokes before having a big stroke.

A&E NOW and do not leave without being seen, however long the Bank Holiday queue is.
Sorry to be scary. This used to be my area of research.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 22/04/2019 10:24

*feel not find

MrsMozartMkII · 22/04/2019 10:26

I hope you've now called an ambulance lass.

ShiveringCoyote · 22/04/2019 10:29

Please call an ambulance not 111. The sooner you get help after a stroke if it is a stroke the better chance your recovery will be. My dbro had a stroke at 35.

SparklyMagpie · 22/04/2019 10:29

You need to get checked NOW ! I can't believe you haven't already !!

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 22/04/2019 10:30

Strokes can happen at any age.
They can range from very mild to very severe but damage is caused by any severity of stroke. The damage is cumulative so any repeat adds more damage.

Mild strokes almost always repeat and eventually lead to bigger (sometimes massively devastating) strokes if the cause of them is not treated.

Mild strokes are very often confused as something else because they don't necessarily fit the classic symptoms and your not left with the (outside) damage so people explain them away, leaving you open to more damage and bigger strokes.

SqueakyPigs · 22/04/2019 10:32

Go to the hospital

lanbro · 22/04/2019 10:32

This is absolutely what 999 is for...

Nanna50 · 22/04/2019 10:34

Agree with Mabel when the ambulance arrived (and it was very quick) my friend was coherent and felt a bit better and the crew were of the opinion it may not have been a stroke but treated her as if it was, and it was.

Within a few hours she had little evidence of physical effects, just looked tired but was making phone calls and rearranging her calendar to take some time off (from her hospital bed). She has not come away unscathed and recovery has been slow.

Minnie747 · 22/04/2019 10:36

Op a stoke or mini stoke (TIA) is possible at 33. Please do as others suggest and call 999.
