... not only that, he’s threatening treason charges on those who investigated him.

Everything about him and his enablers is deplorable.

Thanks for that from the ex-GOP member, North.

Roussette · 26/05/2019 11:43

Cheers NorthWest I'm going to follow that ex-GOPer

Poked my head up from my holiday long enough to see that nothing had really changed. I'm glad Biden is running. I think he is someone who the Dem voters can get behind. And what's important is tha,t we have a candidate who can appeal to a broad range of voters.

One concern is that Joe isn't a man who has quick comebacks and who has much 'razzle dazzle'. I hope that undecided voters remember that slow and steady wins the race.

We're in Yellowstone now. This morning we watched a female elk in early labour. We didn't linger though. Even an animal deserves some privacy when they're giving birth.

lionheart · 26/05/2019 22:06

Hello Across--sounds like a fantastic trip.

I keep thinking that if Trump were more like Putin he would have got in the ring with the Sumo wrestler and cheated won the match.

But the image it conjures is not a good one.

Roussette · 27/05/2019 08:35

Enjoy the rest of your holiday Across. Smile

This is food for thought.... and pretty shocking...

1/First of all, remember that impeachment is a political process, not a criminal one. Impeachable offenses are not necessarily criminal offenses but abuses of presidential power. Abuses that contradict his oath to uphold the constitution

2/Yesterday it was reported that the president inserted himself in the US Army Corps of Engineers bidding process on the border wall to favor a company that is headed by a large GOP donor. This is a subversion of the process & a corrupt abuse of power & an impeachable offense.

3/In April, two outlets confirmed Trump had urged a senior DHS official to ignore a judge’s order & then mentioned his pardon for Judge Arpaio, implying he’d provide a presidential pardon if the official faced legal consequences. This is an abuse of power & an impeachable offense

4/Just days ago, The White House ordered Don Mcgahn, former WH counsel to refuse a congressional subpoena. Mcgahn is currently a private citizen and Trump has no legal authority to withhold Mcgahn’s presence. This is obstruction of justice and an impeachable offense.

5/In January, just before testimony of Trumps former lawyer Michael Cohen, Trump tweeted that Cohen’s Father-in-law should be investigated. This was clearly a ham-fisted attempt to intimidate Cohen from testifying. This is obstruction of justice and it is an impeachable offense.

I would love to see an actual list. Hurting your feelings isn't impeachment material.

6/Trump’s Washington hotel is a massive conflict of interest as foreign countries, businesses and lobbyists book extensively while they have business before the president. This is a violation of the emoluments clause of the constitution and an impeachable offense.

7/Every time Trump visits one of his own properties, taxpayer money is being paid directly to him for security, lodging, expenses etc. He also benefits greatly as these trips promote his properties. This is a violation of the domestic emoluments clause & a corrupt abuse of power.

8/And you guessed it, an impeachable offense.

9/This list is by no means comprehensive and it omits the 10 incidents of obstruction of justice that are in the Mueller report. Those same incidents that caused over 1000 former federal prosecutors to sign a statement that Trump would be indicted if he were a private citizen.

Sorry for the mash up there but you get the gist!

It is hard to keep track, isn't it?

At this point it would be easier to list the things said or done by Trump and his minions that follow the regulations, laws or expectations of someone elected to office.

I don't think he wants any part of the three ringed circus this would be.

I think I read somewhere that in the public hearing the opening statement is limited to five minutes but the restriction is not in place in the closed hearing. This means the public might get a longer statement plus the transcript without the partisan point scoring (which would, no doubt involve questions about 'witch-hunts'.)

But obviously I can see why people want to see him take the stand even given the drawbacks associated with that particular arena.

Pelosi Jr corrects Trump's spelling on Memorial Day

Still more worried about petty politics (and his own survival).

Not sure if you’ve seen this. If not, it is concerning. The US Navy hasn’t yet made a statement about it, but I have read a comment on Reddit from a former serviceman that on Fridays, apparently, it is common to wear different patches - so this one may be an insider joke. However, I’d think it would be an offence to wear them when a President was on board, at the very least;, when you knew you could be photographed; and any that show political affiliation. And if they aren’t a joke, then POTUS has himself an army should he decide not to leave office. More authoritarianism, right under our noses.

When President Trump delivered a Memorial Day speech to sailors and Marines, some wore patches with a likeness of Trump and the words “Make Aircrew Great Again." Images of the patches went viral, and the Navy soon found itself with a hornet’s nest.

I saw that Claws it is not a Trump Aircrew, hornets nest indeed. Do wonder why on god's earth they revere him, not despise him, he doesn't exactly treat the Armed Forces well does he?

Well done Netflix

Whosorrynow well... he's only ever wanted the pomp,, the adulation, he's never worked hard, he won't even have an Intel briefing. Golf, Airforce One, and rallies is his thing. I shall have to brace myself greatly for next week when he comes over complete with his revolting family. At least Meghan isn't meeting him, good timing on that baby of hers, she's been vocal against him.
