... not only that, he’s threatening treason charges on those who investigated him.

Trump agrees it would be just fine for him to ask AJ Barr to investigate Biden.

Another go at dumping democracy.

Pence claims Trump will ask Supreme Court to bar judges from blocking his policies.
Vice president says administration hopes high court will end "nationwide injunctions" that shut down policy.

www.salon.com/2019/05/10/pence-claims-trump-will-ask-supreme-court-to-ban-judges-from-blocking-his-policies/

In a speech before the right-wing Federalist Society, Vice President Mike Pence complained about federal courts blocking the Trump administration’s policies from taking effect. He said President Trump would take the issue to the Supreme Court.

Pence told the crowd that federal judges who issue nationwide injunctions against Trump’s policies “prevent the executive branch from acting, compromising our national security by obstructing the lawful ability of the president to stop threats to the homeland where he sees them.”

Pence vowed that the administration would take their complaints to the Supreme Court.

“The Supreme Court of the United States must clarify that district judges can decide no more than the cases before them,” Pence said. “A Supreme Court justice has to convince four of his colleagues to uphold a nationwide injunction — but a single district court judge can issue one, effectively preventing the duly-elected president of the United States from fulfilling his constitutional duties. This judicial obstruction is unprecedented. In the days ahead, our administration will seek opportunities to put this question before the Supreme Court.”

This parent’s story is undoubtedly only one of many similar ones. Sad

“Am I a bad person?” Why one mom didn’t take her kid to the ER — even after poison control said to.
The emergency room bill I can’t stop thinking about.

That is an impossible position.

His tweets and retweets are becoming ever more shrill and repetitive: I didn’t do anything! My son didn’t do anything! Everything is awesome! We’re going to get everyone who tried to get me!

Given that potus will have realised that his utterances wrt China tariffs drop the markets - is there a possibility of 'insider' trading or would the oiks that he'd have to get to take 'positions' shy away on the basis of not facilitating such?
Would there be any way of investigating whether this is happening? Where would the smoking gun be found?

Anniegetyourgun · 13/05/2019 22:21

So... it was extremely wrong of the FBI to investigate suspected wrongdoings by (aka spy on) candidate Trump. But it's only right and proper to investigate (aka, er, investigate, definitely not spy on) candidate Biden. Makes perfect sense.

PerkingFaintly · 13/05/2019 22:44

I'm not convinced POTUS really is aware enough to realise (without help) that his behaviour would drop the markets. People around him might, of course.

TBH its symptomatic of this presidency that there are so many breaches of the law going on (eg emoluments, with his businesses profiting from the presidency) that right now I'm struggling to imagine insider trading making a difference.

But I'm saying that while tired of an evening. Maybe I'll be more optimistic in the morning.

PerkingFaintly · 13/05/2019 22:47

Yip, Annie, that's about it.

And in fact, IIRC, the FBI didn't even surveil Trump – they surveilled some of the already bad eggs he hired for his campaign.

Maybe he should just not hire crooks?

edition.cnn.com/2019/05/13/politics/farmers-china-tariffs-trump/index.html

And so it goes on. Tariffs rise. Farmers get hurt. Farmers get pay out of£12bn as they vote for him. But farmers are now getting jittery. What's his next step, given he isn't exactly an economic guru...

Speaking to reporters Monday, Trump said he would use some of the tariff revenue which is paid by US importers to help subsidize farmers.

Some news that really isn't, but still ... If Trump believes in the genetic superiority of the Aryan stock it not only explains the racism but also why he thinks it will work. For him the arc of the universe bends towards him and those just like him ...

'US president Donald Trump has said he thinks it would be “appropriate” for him to talk to attorney general William Barr about opening an investigation into Joe Biden, the current frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination.

In an interview with Politico, Mr Trump said he and Mr Barr had not considered an inquiry into his potential 2020 election opponent – but he did not rule it out either, saying “certainly it would be an appropriate thing to” discuss.'

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 14/05/2019 15:38

"Speaking to reporters Monday, Trump said he would use some of the tariff revenue which is paid by US importers to help subsidize farmers."

That's not going to help the ones he's already caused to go bankrupt.

I do hope that they may manage to see that voting for him again in 2020 will be a mistake, because he clearly doesn't care a row of beans about them.

Cry me a river.

Trump Tower Is Now One of NYC’s Least-Desirable Luxury Buildings
•Most condo owners who sold since 2016 have recorded a loss
•‘No one wants in that building,’ says one former owner
www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-05-14/trump-tower-is-now-one-of-nyc-s-least-desirable-luxury-buildings

Trump Tower, once the crown jewel in Donald Trump’s property empire, now ranks as one of the least desirable luxury properties in Manhattan.

The 36-year-old building has been turned into a fortress since Trump won the presidency, ringed with concrete barriers and the two main entrances partially blocked off. It hasn’t been substantially updated in years. And Trump’s name has been a huge turnoff in liberal New York City.

For anyone who owns a unit in the tower, the past two years have been brutal. Most condo sales have led to a loss after adjusting for inflation, property records show. Several sold at more than a 20% loss. By contrast, across Manhattan, just 0.23% of homes over the past two years sold at a loss, according to real-estate data provider PropertyShark, although the firm doesn’t adjust for inflation.

It’s all a far cry from the days when the New York landmark attracted the likes of Michael Jackson, Johnny Carson and Steven Spielberg. These days, it’s better known for a Trump campaign meeting with a Russian lawyer documented in Robert Mueller’s Russia report.
...
Trump Tower’s occupancy rate has plunged over the last seven years to 83% from 99%, giving it a vacancy rate that’s about twice Manhattan’s average.

"If I were looking for office space, that would be a building I’d want to avoid," said Edward Son, until recently a market analyst for CoStar Group Inc.
