To say I dislike menstural cups?

MrsFoxPlus4 · 22/04/2019 04:08

Iv tired 4 ranging in prices, from different brands, to different shapes. I done the put in the cup in it quiz.

Iv tried different folds.
Iv turned it inside out.
Iv used lube.
Iv cut the stems & iv left the stems.
Iv tried different positions.

I am relaxed I have zero issues about inserting a cup I really wanted to be able to use one but I always find them extremely difficult to open up inside, I can’t get my finger up “run round the rim” of the cup.

Iv watched all the YouTube videos people try to link you to when you voice you’ve had an issue.

This has been over the last 8 months, they also irritate my vagina and she gets rather unhappy with me, iv had trush more than iv had in my full life. My nurse has said I’d be better off taking a break they aren’t agreeing with my body.

So can people just not get along with menstural cups? Menstural cup users are the new version of militant vegans they cannot comprehend someone dislikes them from my experience!

As much as I agree they are better for the environment which is factual they clearly aren’t for me & I’m giving up trying I don’t have money to throw around for a cup to sit in the bathroom cupboard 😅.

Does anyone else feel the same or have the same issues?

I love mine. But when I started using it, I was determined to only give it one chance and if it didn’t work for me it didn’t work.

Amazed you kept at with different ones and for eight months.

Use san pro you find easy.

steff13 · 22/04/2019 04:14

So can people just not get along with menstural cups?

Men can.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 22/04/2019 04:20

I was determined I’d be converted and love them. Iv really really wanted to. Everyone Iv spoken to seems it’s more a me thing than they just aren’t for me 🤦🏻‍♀️. I’m having a break, it just popped into my head because I’m awake with cramps. I might try disks they look look better!

I didn't like it either, I only used one though. I found the rim was hard and hurt a lot when I was taking it out. It might have been that particular brand but I don't want to try again.

I now have a small prolapse which means my cervix sits really low so I doubt if one would work now anyway.

ISaySteadyOn · 22/04/2019 06:39

YANBU. Not for me either. Uncomfortable and my dyspraxia made it hard to insert and remove. They are not the panacea so many people say they are.

GottenGottenGotten · 22/04/2019 06:58

I love mine.

I don't however, get on with tampons - other people do. I totally get that they might just not be right for you. And I certainly wouldn't have persevered that long with mine, I knew within a couple of days it was for me.

Use whatever is right for you.

ContessaIsOnADietDammit · 22/04/2019 07:05

If you don't get on with them, that is of course fine.

Various brands do reusable sanitary pads, if that's any help? I.e. wear, wash, repeat.

Shutuptodd · 22/04/2019 07:10

I have tried and tried but cant get on with it. According to my dr I'm plummed backwards (whatever the hell that means) so I dont think that helps plus I have stumpy fingers so cant reach far enough to see if it's open. I've tried everything and no matter what I do it leaks so I have given up and gone back to tampons which also leak but at least I dont have to faff about with my hands in it. (Sorry tmi)

BeanBag7 · 22/04/2019 07:10

I think you've given it a fair try and found its not for you. I liked my moon cup but since having DD I can't get it to sit right. I've tried 2 other brands as well and none of them were quite right. I've gone to cheeky stores reusable pads now and finding them much easier.

Butchyrestingface · 22/04/2019 07:14

I struggled to insert tampons (which leaked anyway) so you can imagine how I got on with a mooncup.

Now I use reusable pads. Have you tried those?

NW2SW · 22/04/2019 07:20

I don't use mine as much as I should. I find it tricky to use and super messy. Also very aware once it's in.

swapsicles · 22/04/2019 07:22

Mooncups are the best for me
However I don't get on with tampons(uncomfortable and drying) reusable pads (bulky and won't stay put!) standard pads (irritate and unbreathable)
It's a good job really 😊 will try period pants but with the difficulty I have in finding standard knickers that fit I'm reluctant to fork out for them.

swapsicles · 22/04/2019 07:25

Oh another thought, I never run my finger round, just fold and insert, it soon pops out and I don't need to check. Rummaging around may cause more issues than just leaving alone

isabellerossignol · 22/04/2019 07:26

I love mine but I hate tampons.

But if you don't find it works for you, then there is no point in torturing yourself. Find something else that works.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 22/04/2019 07:26

I haven't tried them. I have a retroverted uterus, and having experienced a trained nurse struggling to find my cervix during smear tests more times than I care to remember, I'm fairly certain I don't want to be wrestling around up there during my periods.

I also really don't get on with tampons, so thank goodness that Bodyform haven't (yet) succumbed to the need to put perfume on their towels as that's what I'm left with...

Bibijayne · 22/04/2019 07:28

I have reusable sanitary pads as I find the cups very uncomfortable.

floribunda18 · 22/04/2019 07:29

YANBU. I persevered with a couple of types but they were just uncomfortable and unreliable. They are too expensive to keep trying different ones, so I didn't bother with them any further.

Shutuptodd · 22/04/2019 07:32

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross thank you I now have the name for why they struggle to find mine. I thought "plumbed wrong" was probably not the technical term.

jonsnowlowblow · 22/04/2019 07:39

I may not have given it as much chance as you have OP, but I haven't got on with them either. My cervix is quite high so they float upwards and this leads to excess rummaging to get it back out - difficult in public or with long nails (and I love long nails). Even with stems I then find it difficult to clasp them. I've since moved onto reusable sanitary pads and period pants. I might try it again one day, like you I want to like cups!

Myheartbelongsto · 22/04/2019 07:45

're usable sanitary pads.........oh dear God no.

ContessaIsOnADietDammit · 22/04/2019 07:52

myheart Confused you do realise that millions of women across the planet are obligated to use old bits of rag or whatever they can find in order to be able to actually leave their homes while menstruating, right? And that they almost certainly will hang onto those bits of rag and wash them for next time rather than viewing them as disposable?

When I compare that to my washing-machine cleaned, attractively patterned reusable pads, my reaction is not "Oh God no" but thankfulness for being bloody lucky!

Butchyrestingface · 22/04/2019 09:46

're usable sanitary pads.........oh dear God no.

God has nothing to do with it. I got mine from a nice company on Etsy. Smile

Branleuse · 22/04/2019 09:47

I used one for years with no problem, but i cant anymore. I can feel them and they slip down. My pelvic floor is a bit shit though

BumbleBeeWineGlass · 22/04/2019 09:49

I don't get on with them, however I position it I get constant dragging cramps whilst my body desperately try's to get rid.
I use cloth pads as they're the only thing that doesn't give my horrible irritation or pain.

Sparklingbrook · 22/04/2019 09:49

I am more than happy with tampons, nothing would persuade me to use a cup.
