To say I dislike menstural cups?

MrsFoxPlus4 · 22/04/2019 04:08

Iv tired 4 ranging in prices, from different brands, to different shapes. I done the put in the cup in it quiz.

Iv tried different folds.
Iv turned it inside out.
Iv used lube.
Iv cut the stems & iv left the stems.
Iv tried different positions.

I am relaxed I have zero issues about inserting a cup I really wanted to be able to use one but I always find them extremely difficult to open up inside, I can’t get my finger up “run round the rim” of the cup.

Iv watched all the YouTube videos people try to link you to when you voice you’ve had an issue.

This has been over the last 8 months, they also irritate my vagina and she gets rather unhappy with me, iv had trush more than iv had in my full life. My nurse has said I’d be better off taking a break they aren’t agreeing with my body.

So can people just not get along with menstural cups? Menstural cup users are the new version of militant vegans they cannot comprehend someone dislikes them from my experience!

As much as I agree they are better for the environment which is factual they clearly aren’t for me & I’m giving up trying I don’t have money to throw around for a cup to sit in the bathroom cupboard 😅.

Does anyone else feel the same or have the same issues?

No Matter how useful and economical they are, I fucking hate using them. I get freaked out by tampons up me let alone them. Tried it but it was just so uncomfortable, not worth it considering how awful and sick my periods make me anyhow x

PCohle · 22/04/2019 22:57

I do get frustrated when people decide they just don't like the idea of them without trying

I think there are a great many reasons a woman might well not like the idea of using internal sanitary protection. I absolutely think that's a decision women get to make for themselves without having to justify it to anyone else.

Smokeahontas · 22/04/2019 23:32

Ok, I have ordered a pair of the period pants, a panty liner and a night towel from Cheeky Mama. Strangely excited to try them!

I can't get on with mine since having my baby. I now use reusable pads from The Panty Loon - occasionally cotton tampons from Totm if I am wearing clothes where the pads would show.

PregnantSea · 23/04/2019 03:03

You've given them a fair chance. You need something that works for you. I like reusable pads but didn't like mooncups

Mummaofmytribe · 23/04/2019 03:31

I just can't use any internal products. Would like to but just can't.
I've just ordered a couple of pairs of modibodi period undies which I'm really hoping will be successful. Gonna try them at home first.
I've also developed an allergy to disposable pads. The only ones that don't drive me crazy with itching aren't absorbent enough. Plus the environmental factor.

PhoenixBuchanan · 23/04/2019 03:57

I used to love mine but it doesn't work as well since I had DC2. I've tried two different brands. I still sometimes use one on light flow days but on heavy flow days I have all sorts of issues with leakage and positioning. Last month I had a huge gush of blood, and upon investigation the cup had somehow turned upside down inside me Confused (yes it was the right size). I'm happier with tampons these days but am also looking into period pants. It's the initial cost that's putting me off!

WanderingTrolley1 · 23/04/2019 04:43

Ghastly things. I’m sticking to tampons.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/04/2019 10:15

I've just boiled mine up, ds thought I was boiling eggsGrin

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/04/2019 10:55

Yanbu at all, you've given it a good go and it doesn't work.

I find tampons can get really sore - flow can change very quickly from heavy to very light leaving me with a fucking dry tampon. Ouch.

Used mooncup for years, loved it. Had a baby in October, c section. Discovered posy birth that most sanitary towels are now perfumed thrush inducing abominations.
First period last week and my mooncup suddenly doesn't work anymore, i couldn't pee with it in.

Ended up getting a smaller softer mooncup, but also some reusable padsvto double up in case the smaller cup didn't work out. The reusable pad was surprisingly comfortable. Smaller cup seemed ok but I might keep using the pads too on the first day or two as backup. Still breastfeeding so who knows wtf my periods are going to do.

Envy men not having to think about this crap

MrsFoxPlus4 · 23/04/2019 21:55

I definitely feel better about my decision to stop trying with it! I’m glad a couple of women have decided to try alternivite san pro!

My new reusable sanpro arrived today! Really not what I was expecting but in a good way. I thought it was going to be the thickness of those cheap 24 petrol station emergency pads you get but they’re really no thicker than traditional sanpro. The period pants look quite comfy as well.

Bipbopbee · 01/05/2019 18:55

Totally off topic but “furtling around” is my new favourite description Grin

MrsFoxPlus4 · 01/05/2019 22:47

Smokeahontas good I’m glad you found something that can work for you!

Fuck knows how to link, but this is what I'm using. Mooncups are great but since my second child I've got issues with my vajojo, I think it's inside out (forgotten the name).

Otherwise I use CSP (cloth sanitary pads) and I've sourced the perfect size and shape for my shit periods.
