I want to hear about your good or bad encounters with a celebrity/famous person please! In the late nineties I met the chef Ainsley Harriot at a London train station when I was cueing to buy a ticket! I was very excited about this and told him I loved the show Ready Steady Cook which he was on at the time, he was really nice and chatty but I didn't get his autograph though! More recently about 2 years ago Ray Winston was sitting at the table beside us in a Chinese restaurant but we didn't get to speak as he was engrossed in conversation. I nearly forgot Todd Carty aka Mark from East Enders used to use our local newsagent in the morning on way to Elstree again in the nineties, he was always very smiley and drove a little MG!

Ricky Tomlinson, was lovely and down to earth.

Wincarnis · 25/04/2019 18:39

Matt Dawson nasty twat. DS (10) politely asked for an autograph. MD brushed him aside and knocked him to the floor. No apology.

SchrodingersBrexit · 25/04/2019 18:58

@MrsLeBon2 Did you go to school with her? Sorry if you've stated up thread, I couldn't see

EdWinchester · 25/04/2019 19:08

My god daughter has met Kit Harrington (I had never heard of him, but she sent a photo).

He is quite short. She said about 5’7.

MrsLeBon2 · 25/04/2019 19:22

@schrodingersbrexit I couldn't possibly say Wink but suffice it to say I speak from experience! (there must be a lot of people out there who've had the same experience, I'm surprised there aren't more on this thread!)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/04/2019 19:28

maggiemuff · 25/04/2019 19:35

Sushitrain

Do you know Chris Packham has Aspergers?

DishingOutDone · 25/04/2019 21:55

Small newsreader, Trevor McDonald, he was speaking at an event. Very small, very subdued. I think he wanted to go home.

DishingOutDone · 25/04/2019 21:57

Oh and I went to Len Goodman's school of dance, in Dartford, doing dancercise for ladies (no alliteration intended). Every 20 minutes Len would declare a fag break and at half time he'd open the bar.

DishingOutDone · 25/04/2019 21:59

And Cherie Blair, I was in the "line" at a charity event, she shook my finger tips very gingerly and said "And what do you do?" like the queen.

AGoodWench · 25/04/2019 23:50

Cherie..

Just think she could have been our First Lady if only we would chuck out the monarchy.

HelenaDove · 26/04/2019 00:01

DM knows Anthony Hopkins in a ”friend of a friend” way. We went to see him in his dressing room at the National Theatre after seeing him in King Lear in the late 80s. He was very well known at the time, but it was before the mega-stardom of a”Silrnce of the Lambs”. Lovely man, paid for our taxi home.

popsadaisy · 26/04/2019 09:09

@MrsLeBon2 that's surprised me so much!! Were you in school with her?! What was she like? Genuinely been a fan of her for years!

SchrodingersBrexit · 26/04/2019 11:37

@DishingOutDone Grin at Cherie Blair being a bit Lizzy.

MissEliza · 26/04/2019 17:18

I know someone who worked for TB and got moved because Cherie had a diva moment. I'm very impressed my friend wouldn't take her shit.

winniestone37 · 27/04/2019 21:50

@MissLadyM what a mean thing to say, why read the thread?

Butterfly98 · 27/04/2019 22:36

Yes @winniestone37 I do think it's peculiar why people who are totally not interested in a particular thread have a compulsion to not only click and read but then go on to spend time expressing their views and commenting on it! Trés Bizarre!

My Dad works up Covent Garden has done since he was 16 and he's met loads he once had a really nice woman ask for him a lighter when he gave it to her and she said thank you to him, he realised it was Joanna Lumley hope I've spelt that right,
He said she was really really nice and just sat there on the step having a fag talking to him Smile

anitagreen · 28/04/2019 01:56

Probably a crap one but my partner met Joe Tate from emmerdale last Friday too in Wimbledon he was really nice

FannyWork · 28/04/2019 02:02

Lennox Lewis once paid for my shopping when I’d lost my purse. Lovely man, a real gentleman.

FannyWork · 28/04/2019 02:03

Oh and I think Catherine Tate because I’m fairly sure Lauren the schoolgirl is based on me.

SnowsInWater · 28/04/2019 02:09

I used to go clubbing with the guys from U2 in Dublin in the 80s.

PlatypusLeague · 28/04/2019 09:51

Due to the line breaks on my phone, just read this:

"Darth Vader.... very kind man"

😂

InABigCountry · 28/04/2019 23:21

I'm trying to think- have met a few Scottish footballers.
In the Line of Duty theme- I saw Adrian Dunbar in a pub in Glasgow in the 90s! I liked him way back then, think he was filming something at the time, will need to look it up. Was too shy to go and speak to him though.
