IKEA sofa?

Champagnetaste · 19/04/2019 21:09

I have seen a lovely sofa in IKEA. For both the 2 and 3 seater it’s less than 1k.

Aibu to think this won’t need replaced within a year? I previously worked for a very well know sofa company so I know that even if you spend a lot of money you aren’t guaranteed quality. But it just seems too cheap

We nearly bought one of theres once. They just didn't have the luxury sink in feeling of an expensive sofa so we decided to pay more.

EssentialHummus · 19/04/2019 21:13

We’ve found their sofas (and beds and mattresses) very good.

GoldPaperStars · 19/04/2019 21:13

We’ve had ours for a couple of years and it still looks and feels new. Seems immune to cat scratching too (although not fluff Angry) if that’s relivent...

TheRoadBeneathMyFeet · 19/04/2019 21:15

I really like mine. Which one are you looking at?

Mrsfs · 19/04/2019 21:15

We spent a fortune on a sofa and within days it sank and creaked, we had to return it. We then bought a sofa from IKEA, it's only been two months but not a creak can be heard, the sofa cushions are comfy still. I think they even come with a 10 year guarantee, ours did.

Merename · 19/04/2019 21:16

Ours is 7mo old and looks good. My only complaint was the horrendous off-gassing when it arrived. I had never heard of this phenomenon but the room was unusable due to the poisonous stench for at least a week.

OldAndWornOut · 19/04/2019 21:17

My neighbours Ikea corner sofa thingy is almost 18 years old and is still going strong.

MadisonAvenue · 19/04/2019 21:20

We've had a sofa and armchair from there in the family room for around five years and haven't had any problems with it, it's incredibly comfortable. In light of that we've taken delivery of two sofas and an armchair from there for our main living room this week. We paid around £1300. I like the fact that the covers are washable, and that they're not just one piece which makes them difficult to wash in a domestic machine and subsequently dry easily.

implantsandaDyson · 19/04/2019 21:22

I've a 3 and 2 seater from IKEA- together they were under £1,000. We've had them for a few years - there is 5 of us so they get some use Grin. I'm still very happy with them.

AnguaUberwaldIronfoundersson · 19/04/2019 21:22

Love our Ikea sofa. Had it three years and it’s going strong despite us being heavy handed fat fuckers who don’t know how to sit softly and gracefully. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

Chocolate1984 · 19/04/2019 21:24

We bought an ikea sofa for our first flat in 2005 and we still have it. I think at the time it was £900 so it wasn’t their cheapest sofa, but it has still lasted far longer than we expected. Our £3300 M&S sofa on the other hand is terrible and needed replaced after 2 years.

I would definitely buy another ikea sofa.

nonevernotever · 19/04/2019 21:24

Ours is 2 years old but a friend has one that is20years old and still fab. It's on to its 3rd set of covers but they think that's a bonus!

ChidiAnnaKendrick · 19/04/2019 21:25

We’ve had our ikea corner unit for close to 6 years. It’s huge (seats 8 adults easily) and it cost is just shy of £1k including spare covers. It looks and feels the same as the day we bought it. Machine washable covers help with this a lot!

I highly recommend them.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/04/2019 21:28

We got an Erktop 3 seater+armchair about 10 years ago (maybe longer) . The armchair has gone but the sofa is still 'ok'

We got washable covers (red for A/W and blue for S/S) now we have a light beige (DC are older so less prone to mankying up the furniture)

DS had a sofabed that we've just changed to a double bed .
And we have a huge gate legged dining table , 6 chairs+ 2 stools.

Love Ikea Grin

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 19/04/2019 21:30

I had one of their very cheap 2 seater sofas, it was fantastic and lasted longer than a £600 DFS one.

LotsToThinkOf · 19/04/2019 21:31

My Ikea sofas are still going strong, bought in 2008 and used for a year as main sofas, given to DB for 3 years, given back for the remainder where they’ve been used in the playroom. Still great condition, the covers need replacing (white!) but that’s the only thing. Our expensive sofas are 7 and nearing the end.

We have loads of ikea furniture and it’s all very good quality.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 19/04/2019 21:33

Klippan is the one I had. It was brilliant. I'd have another one tomorrow if I needed a new sofa.

Dishwashersaurous · 19/04/2019 21:40

Sitting on my five year old ikea sofa and love it. Also you can buy new soft covers which make it look brand new

sunnyday1976 · 19/04/2019 21:41

We've had an ektorp sofa for over 10 years - still absolutely fine, although it has had a set of new covers (our fault, not theirs). Great that you can wash some of the covers for it too.

jabylite · 19/04/2019 21:41

My IKEA sofa is fantastic and v comfortable - not all soggy like many more expensive ones.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/04/2019 22:23

My ektorp lasted well over ten years and still had loads of like in it. I only sold it as I wanted a leather corner sofa

pinkhousesarebest · 19/04/2019 22:30

We had an Ekescog for 14 years. So comfy right until the end when a big teenage galoote ( not mine) used it as a trampoline and broke it. We have new ones now and despite D.C.'s and cats are still pristine.

magicstar1 · 19/04/2019 22:36

I’ve an Ikea Tidafors and it’s still perfect after three years. People comment on how comfy it is all the time.
Best part is that I wanted one for ages but it was €1100...found it in Bargain Corner for €350 one day and nabbed it Grin

AuntieDolly · 19/04/2019 22:50

I've bought the Stocksund from ikea recently. They replaced multi York sofas that were over 20 years old and I was a bit worried they'd be cheap and nasty but I love them!

mrwalkensir · 19/04/2019 22:54

have a 25 year old one - think we may have replaced the feather seat cushions with foam 10 years ago, but still doing well. IKEA tends to be (by far) the best value for the money.
