IKEA sofa?

I have seen a lovely sofa in IKEA. For both the 2 and 3 seater it’s less than 1k.

Aibu to think this won’t need replaced within a year? I previously worked for a very well know sofa company so I know that even if you spend a lot of money you aren’t guaranteed quality. But it just seems too cheap

I am lying on my Ikea sofa right now watching telly Smile

Our Ikea sofa is 20 years old and has survived everything that the dc and the pets can throw at it (sometimes literally). My eldest did almost manage to kill it in the great rusk incident of 2001 and, as they grew, the kids’ use of it as a trampoline has put the cushions to the test. It now looks pretty worn but is still comfy. Time for a new one now though.

Glad I found this thread!! Moving house in a few weeks and need a new sofa. I've just looked at the Ektorp and really like the look of it. Going to be brave!!

I'm sofa- hunting too. I like simple shapes and a high sit. I have a Klippan which I love but is too small (bought for £20 in an emergency). I've been tempted by the Tidafors but it only comes in grey AFAIK. I love grey but even I've had enough of it now.

We have several stocksund (2 rooms), love them. We have boys and a dog so wanted washable covers and didn't want to spend loads on sofas after spending a small fortune on building work and redecorating. The covers wash really well and they're comfy. The 3 seater is big enough for all the family to sit in.

Ektorp, 10years+ and still going strong

Justanothernamechange2 · 22/04/2019 19:10

Bought a pair of Ektorps as a "stopgap" 10 years ago. They are still stopping the gap. Grin

Thanks @just.

I'm right, aren't I, in thinking that the large Klippan is no more?

We have a fifteen year old Ektorp that has moved house with us six times (to four different countries!) and it's still going strong.

exLtEveDallas · 23/04/2019 08:04

Our Ektorps (3, 2, 1, 1 and a footstool) are 15 years old, have moved house 6 times and only the footstool has suffered. We are on our 3rd set of covers - once for redecoration and once because the rabbit ate big holes in the back.

The 3 seater now squeaks a bit when sat on, but that's because both DD and I tend to throw ourselves down on it, rather than sit.

I'm not keen on our current 3 seater cover because it seems to have stretched but it's not cotton like the others, so probably just a bad choice.

I reckon it might outlive me at this rate.

We got, what we think may have been a leather settee (although most probably not) back in Jan this year, it was in the sale, I think the style was being discontinued, we got for under £600. We had it for around 3 weeks, when it began to get very wrinkly, baggy. So we exchanged it for a fabric one. This one has been, so far so good, it's comfy and hold it's shape really well.

scaryteacher · 23/04/2019 13:26

I have 3 Ektorps. Love them...one is from 2006, one 2014, and one 2017. All still going strong!!
