Found three grey hairs today.

Then stopped looking!

Wtf do I do?

(Dark hair... thinking blonde highlights?)

I've got salt and pepper hair now, I think it suits me better than my previous mousy colour.

PrtScn · 18/04/2019 22:00

I’m 40 but don’t have any grey hair. Got a baby now though, so I’m sure it won’t be long coming 😂.
I do have a rogue white eyebrow hair though. I have to pluck it out every now and then. My dad died when he was 53 and had a full head of hair and not an ounce of grey, but had a load of white eyebrow hairs. I hope I take after him! On the hair front, not the other thing.

NannyRed · 18/04/2019 22:01

Found my first grey aged about 16 ( I was still at school) .

I’ve dyed my hair ever since.

I love the viarty of colours available. I’m currently a nice shade of ginger, but I have been auburn, chocolate, caramel, bright red, blonde, black/brown (almost my natural colour) strips and tabby.

Either embrace the grey or get used to a long term commitment to hair dye.

Teddybear45 · 18/04/2019 22:03
  1. I’m keeping up my prenatals so hopefully it remains to just a few hairs. I have blue-black hair that is turning brown and then white.
MsMarvellous · 18/04/2019 22:04

I'm 37 and have one grey eyebrow hair.

PinguDance · 18/04/2019 22:09
  1. It’s only a few hairs and I just let it happen. I’m now 30 and have a couple of colleagues the same age who are also a bit grey but working it. Quite surprised so many people on here didn’t have any til they were in their 30s!
Fiveredbricks · 18/04/2019 22:12

I started at 14. But have just found out this may have been connected to Thyroid autoimmune disease (hashimotos). I am 40% grey at 33... I dye it pink a lot 😂

DramaAlpaca · 18/04/2019 22:13

I'm almost 55 & have no grey yet. I do have a random white hair that sprouts overnight in the middle of my forehead though.

Pinkkahori · 18/04/2019 22:13

I'm mid-forties and I'm really struggling with this to be honest. I have very dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and light olive skin. I just can't see myself going lighter with my colouring but i have a lot of grey.
I don't have the money for expensive salon visits so I currently have a dark brown box dye in.
I gave going grey gracefully a try but it was actually making me feel quite depressed. Because my hair is so dark and straight the greys are very obvious.

irregularegular · 18/04/2019 22:15

I'm 47 and only have the occasional grey/white hair. Got the first one years ago, but it just hasn't really increased much. Don't know why. Sure my mother was quite grey by now. If they stick out at silly angles a the front then I yank them out but otherwise leave them.

I don't think I will dye. I think by the time I'm decently grey I'll be well into my 50s and happy just to leave if.

AdmiralJaneway · 18/04/2019 22:16

I was horrified to find my first grays in my early 30s but never bothered to do anything about it.

Now I’m mid-40s and it’s turning my dark blonde hair into a lovely ash-blonde and I’ve just had a very good cut and I just love it.

3in4years · 18/04/2019 22:19

36 and got my first few. Leaving them for now. Wait and see.

Spinnaret · 18/04/2019 22:20

I am 47 and have very few. First one was probably around 40. Have done nothing. Don't intend to.

Sarahlou63 · 18/04/2019 22:27

I'm 55 and have a (very) few silver threads but decided to go blonde last year so they just fade in. Eyebrows have gone very pale though.

Ragwort · 18/04/2019 22:31

Mid 40s, never worried me, never did anything about it.

marine04 · 18/04/2019 22:34

My hair is strawberry blonde and no grey hair yet although I've just turned 50. My Dad had the same hair colour as me until he died in his late fifties but bizarrely his beard had a lot of grey in it.

damekindness · 18/04/2019 22:35

Nearly 58 and maybe one or two strands if I try really hard to find them - completely wasted on me as I really don't care that much about ageing

ethelfleda · 18/04/2019 22:35

Ahahahahaaaa
OP I started going grey when I was 22. Now 34 and have loads of grey hair!! I just dye it!

Ginger1982 · 18/04/2019 22:36

36 now with ginger hair and for the last couple of years having been finding pure white hairs at my hairline!

ethelfleda · 18/04/2019 22:37

My hair is also dark and straight so they are very noticeable. I don’t lose much sleep over it.

Montypontypine · 18/04/2019 22:38

I'm 48, been colouring my hair since my late 20s. I really started going Gray after I got married! I'm completely Gray and white all over now under the hair dye now. Pondering a really short hair cut and embracing it

MattBerrysHair · 18/04/2019 22:42

Started going grey at 19. I'm 37 now and have white at the front and temples and salt and pepper on the rest of my head. I can't dye because of allergies so I have to embrace it.

TheFormidableMrsC · 18/04/2019 22:49

I've decided to let mine go and embrace it. I am a (young looking, so I am frequently told!) nearly 50 year old (but I also have an 8 year old DS so I am mindful of not looking like his nanna!). Very dark, shoulder length hair (choppy layered cut). I have some lovely silver streaks coming through now and I quite like them! I have the additional problem of being allergic to hairdye and know that I will never be able to properly dye it again. I used to use dark brown henna cream but it's such a faff and had to be done weekly and latterly, all it's done is made my grey bits look like blonde highlights. I prefer the natural silver of them! I have very dark eyebrows and am not a blonde...so going that way wouldn't suit me. I have had a few foil lowlights put through to "manage" the evenness of the grey and that worked quite well but have no intention of making that a regular thing as it's time consuming and expensive. I did come across a website called "grey and young" or something to that effect and some of the very young women on there looked stunningly gorgeous with silver hair and silver streaks.

brizzlemint · 18/04/2019 22:49

I'm 53 and I have a few grey hairs but not enough to dye my hair. I'm a brunette but the chin hairs are grey

Cocolapew · 18/04/2019 22:54

I have no idea because I was dyeing various colours from 14. My mum and her family went white really young so I presume I would have been the same
I'm 50 now and have stopped dyeing, I have very white hair at the front and sides but darker towards the back.
