Hi,

Firstly as per the title, has anyone been in this boat?

Secondly what the hell do I do???? I could be quite far gone and had no idea until today! I can't get to midwife until Wednesday as she has no appointments

Congratulations Flowers

Have you had a telephone consultation with your gp, perhaps if they knew the situation they could arrange for a hospital appointment with dating scan?

Failing that, a private scan?

PurpleDaisies · 18/04/2019 16:41

Nothing is going to change between now and Wednesday. I’d just make the appointment for the first available one with your midwife.

Fraggle84 · 18/04/2019 18:31

I'd book a private scan

SweepTheHalls · 18/04/2019 18:32

I'd also be looking for a private scan to help me get my head around it! Congratulations!

Tobebythesea · 18/04/2019 18:33

Definitely book a private scan although an urgent one might be tricky due to Easter.

Sexnotgender · 18/04/2019 18:33

You take deep breaths and wait until Wednesday. Is this a wanted possible pregnancy?

winepls · 18/04/2019 18:33

Wow!! Congratulations!! Do you have any DC already?

How did you find out? Surely hcg levels would be too low now for a positive test?

PurpleDaisies · 18/04/2019 18:38

You’re wrong about hcg levels falling so much pregnancy tests become negative later in pregnancy. Its a common myth.

Bitchinwitch · 18/04/2019 18:45

Yes I found out at 5 months, didn't tell a would till 6 months as I was in denial! Booked for a midwife appointment and they booked in my scan swiftly after that, congrats !

Home77 · 18/04/2019 18:58

Yes, I had this! All was fine. I was breastfeeding after DS1 and had no periods at all...then felt kicking! Blush was about 18 weeks.

I remember the midwife appt and they just did a scan...not sure about he tests there was some we missed but think it was a 20 week scan?

It was quite a quick pregnancy but all OK. He's ten now.

Home77 · 18/04/2019 18:59

Yes i did a test then and it showed the pregnancy

Home77 · 18/04/2019 19:00

You can get a scan on the NHS, I didn't need private one.

notapizzaeater · 18/04/2019 19:02

Wow, congratulations

JoinTheDots · 18/04/2019 19:03

I found out at my (I thought) 12 week scan, that I was actually 22 weeks. Did not have as long to get my head around it, but it was a wanted baby, so all fine. She is now 8.

rabbitheadlights · 18/04/2019 19:04

this was me not so long ago OP ... nothing you can do now except go with it xx gl to you Flowers you will be fine

EarlGrayT · 18/04/2019 19:06

I have two friends in your situation both now have beautiful babies who are about to celebrate their first birthdays. It can’t be that uncommon. They had to have a few extra growth scans to date the pregnancy but otherwise all was fine. I actually envy them as I had hyperemersis and was broken by 5 months.

I would phone the hospital switch board to see if you can get a referral. There is usually a maternity emergency service that can see you out of hours.

Good luck and congratulations.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 18/04/2019 19:09

Congratulations! Depending how desperate you are to find out? Maybe go for a private scan

IAmAnIdiott · 18/04/2019 19:10

Congratulations

My DD discovered she was pregnant at 32 weeks. She was in the states studying at the time and had to get a flight back home very quickly. Her GP booked her an appointment with the hospital within a week of her arriving home. She only had 6 weeks to prepare and get used to the idea before she had an emcs at 38 weeks. Needless to say she adores the baby and would not be without her for the world.

Good luck.

CupOhTea · 18/04/2019 19:21

Oh wow congratulations op Flowers!

Two friends of mine found out at 16 weeks and 19 weeks. Not as far along as you, but still a bit of a surprise for them both as both of them had babies already, who were still, well, babies!

I would also find out if you can get a private scan.

Februaryblooms · 18/04/2019 19:22

Oh wow what a huge shock, congratulations!

I echo PP's about booking a private scan.

How do you feel?

SongforSal · 18/04/2019 19:22

I found at at about 19 weeks with my first and 15 weeks with my second. The first was a huge shock. To be honest I couldn't wrap my head around it until I saw her.

Rarfy · 18/04/2019 19:24

This happened to my sil. She saw her GP and was given a scan very quickly with her being around that gestation.

Congratulations.

Fiveredbricks · 18/04/2019 19:24

Private scan. £50. Sorted.

Ratbagratty · 18/04/2019 19:25

I was 30 weeks gone when I found out I was pregnant, at an emergency ultrasound, went into shock for two weeks.

My suggestion is as you have until Wednesday into you can have an ultrasound try and get your head around it, research of you want but don't feel guilty of your aren't ready. You will be given a lot of paperwork to read, wait until you are ready and if possible get someone to sift through it and pull out anything not relevant from the early trimesters.

Take your time! In the end I had my dd at 37 weeks and we were as ready as we were going to be, but with a lot of support.
