I've just watched Tenable and the thing I thought it was called didn't make the top ten of names.

I'm honestly, genuinely shocked. I thought it was really common and would be the most obvious answer.

(Pinger)

The buttons.

SpeckledyHen · 18/04/2019 19:00

The plonker

Schlobbob · 18/04/2019 19:01

Another household who called it the Fat Controller! My brother was Thomas Tank obsessed as a child

Also sometimes the doofer, though lots of things were doofers in our house

YouLikeTheBadOnesToo · 18/04/2019 19:03

The doofer.

sue51 · 18/04/2019 19:04

The clicker or the yolk

UnapologeticallyUnhinged · 18/04/2019 19:15

Also the Frank (Zappa). The Apple TV is called the Slither as it's so damn thin and always gets lost.

scratchyfluffface · 18/04/2019 19:16

Remote, my parents call it 'the box', I have never heard of pinger

BurrSir · 18/04/2019 19:18

I call it the remote. DH’s family call it the box I hadn’t heard of anyone else calling it that until this thread

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 18/04/2019 19:21

In our house it's the remote but in DH's family home it's the clicker and in mine it's the flipper.

Jobberknoll · 18/04/2019 19:21

If someone said "pass me the box" I would be confused, thinking they meant the actual TV.

McMole · 18/04/2019 19:23

The troll or troller (short for remote control)

Oblomov19 · 18/04/2019 19:24

Remote

MrBrown · 18/04/2019 19:25

Does no one else call it a Gizmo? 😲

Might be showing where I'm from here cos I think it's a regional thing maybe?

aprilshowers12 · 18/04/2019 19:26

Clicker

MortyVicar · 18/04/2019 19:26

The remote or the twiddler.

AndiRee · 18/04/2019 19:27

We are evenly split in our house. DD3 and I call it the doo dar, DD3 & DH the doofer. "DD1 Is at uni so avoids the conflict. There are wars, I tell you, wars!!

Boofay · 18/04/2019 19:30

The Oofer Doofer or the Magic Troll, because my now 14yr old used to call it that when she was little. She couldn't say remote control, but somehow came up with Magic Troll.

evilharpy · 18/04/2019 19:31

Telly buttons

TorchesTorches · 18/04/2019 19:32

Used to call it the zapper, now call it the afstandbediening. Its Dutch and since i moved to the Netherlands i found it the most complicated word I had ever come across, so i had to say it about 100 times to learn it. Now it's the first bloody word i think of when i see it!

Brilliantidiot · 18/04/2019 19:33

'Telly buttons' or 'Oofah doofah' here.

minionsrule · 18/04/2019 19:33

We call it the remote but ds when he was little used to call it the merote so we stuck with that for a while Grin

CrazyKittenSmile · 18/04/2019 19:33

I would usually say ‘remote’ or maybe ‘remote control.’

Growing up my parents would say ‘the controls.’

Never heard it called most of these names.

Anothertempusername · 18/04/2019 19:34

Froller

Peach1886 · 18/04/2019 19:35

In our house it's called the godbox because whoever has it has all the power 😄

DropZoneOne · 18/04/2019 19:39

The buttons. As in "can you pass me the buttons please" or "where's the buttons".
