I don't live there. But I sort of wish I knew whoever does...

Is capitalisation of text now code for “Just a hint that this bit is bullshit”?

NotBadConsidering · 17/04/2019 04:59

The owner of this house probably watched Monday’s episode of Game of Thrones, saw the Catherine wheel of severed limbs on the wall and said “oooh, that would look lovely just above the Virgin Mary”.

mathanxiety · 17/04/2019 05:03

It has a cellar!!!!! I love the greenhousy area too.

I think this may be a Traveller family home, though I have seen similar OTT decor in old Italian lady homes in the US and also a few memorable older African American lady homes.

Not sure the garden says 'Traveller'.

mathanxiety · 17/04/2019 05:09

Travellers and gypsies are completely different groups, fwiw.

BeardedMum · 17/04/2019 05:12

Love it

givemesteel · 17/04/2019 05:13

Sorry to spoil 'the fun' but there's a real live person out there trying to sell this house.

Had it occurred to anyone that it would actually be very hurtful to someone to read the comments some people have written?

I'm sure that there will be someone who comes along in a minute and says well if it's in the public domain then we're entitled to have a laugh at their expense.

Yes technically you are, but I think people have the right to sell a house without being ridiculed on the internet.

This thread is in bad taste not the house.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/04/2019 05:47

Apparently it's immaculate!

NotBadConsidering · 17/04/2019 06:10

Reading this thread would do them a massive favour, because no one is going to buy that house in its current state unless they have a spare 100k on top of the asking price and access to several large skips. The fact the estate agent allowed it to go public in this state is more concerning for their right to sell a house.

JuniorAsparagus · 17/04/2019 06:35

I am confused. The description talks about three reception rooms (which I would like) and the plans show a large open plan area (which I wouldn't).
A lot of this would go with the vendor, so I wouldn't be put off if the layout was right.
Although a pp saying they wouldn't touch that area of Birmingham with a barge pole might put me off.

Dumdedumdedum · 17/04/2019 06:37

There's a niche market for this - if it were in Oberammergau.

JuniorAsparagus · 17/04/2019 06:41

*When was it fashionable to have carpet in the kitchen?' We rented a house in 1974 that was carpeted throughout including the kitchen.

rwalker · 17/04/2019 06:42

bit plain for me

Rowenaravenclawsdiadem · 17/04/2019 06:47

They have the only fools and horses wallpaper in what I’m assuming is the drawing room.

'Darling, which rug should we get? The round one of the rectangular one?'
'Yes'

KC225 · 17/04/2019 06:50

I like. But then I am admirer of a bold style, even if it isn't mine. The gardens are gorgeous, that lawn, hedges and the canopied area and I love the cherubs in the wardrobe.

If Liberace had fallen on hard times but was able to keep a few bits.

JenniferJareau · 17/04/2019 06:59

Imagine having to dust that lot! No thanks.

ohcarriemathison · 17/04/2019 07:07

I would be creeped out being in this house.
Also felt weird looking at the photos.

SileneOliveira · 17/04/2019 07:23

They are going to need a LOT of boxes and bubble wrap when they move.

Yinderling · 17/04/2019 07:32

90% likely to be a settled traveller family with a 10% small chance of Southern Italian/Sicilian. I have been to a lot of homes like this over the years. Always immaculately clean.

KitschBitch · 17/04/2019 07:38

Very Barbara Cartland.....Grin

Vulpine · 17/04/2019 07:39

Givemesteel - i agree

WatchingTheWheels85 · 17/04/2019 07:40

I absolutely love it, if I won the lottery I would buy it today Blush

BendydickCuminsnatch · 17/04/2019 07:41

Wow, they have delusions of grandeur for sure 😄

Moondancer73 · 17/04/2019 07:44

Hilarious 🤣

WineGummyBear · 17/04/2019 07:52

There's lots about that house I like, it's curated over-decoration. I love the bamboo wallpaper. It's also impeccably presented everything is tidy. Look at the plant room!

Why not be flamboyant in your own home? Pointless to live for years in a vacuum of taste and style just to please the magnolia-masses on the day you sell up.
