To ask for a partial refund on baby clothes bundle

Hello,

So I bought a bundle of clothes on ebay listed 'Newborn 0-1 month'. It was a bundle of 13 and they have just arrived and 5 of the 13 are 'Tiny baby'. I have already have a tonne of donated tiny baby stuff and there is no mention in the listing that the bundle included 'Tiny baby'. I am new to this whole Mum thing, but in my mind Tiny baby was different to Newborn. If I kne almost half would be tiny baby I wouldn't have bought it.
Would you request a partial refund, or should I just let it go?

Why would you want a partial refund? Are you partially retiring the clothes?

Either ask to return for a refund or don't OP, if you don't then you can stick it back for sale and write an accurate description.

In principle, yes, I'd ask for a refund as the description wasnt accurate.

We were given a some secondhand things by friends and none of the 'tiny baby' clothes fit, so you possibly won't be able to use them.

Practivally, however, I feel it depends on how much you paid and how much hassle you'd have to go through to get a refund...

Be prepared that the seller may ask you to return the whole bundle if you do: I don't think it's necessarily not as described, based on what you have said here, so expect to cover the cost of the return if so.

Another option is re-selling the clothes yourself.

Compare the sizes of the newborn to tiny baby next to each other and see if they are of equal size. Sizes can vary depending on brand. Or it could be a genuine error on the sellers part. Talk to them??

I really would leave it, unless it's a huge amount of money and they're in bad condition. She may have thought that tiny baby equated to newborn (or at least with her own children). Relist the bits you don't need.

I don't see why you shouldn't ask for a partial refund. The listing hasn't been clear which, through no fault of your own, has caused you to buy items you don't want. I sell on ebay and try to be very specific about what I am selling. It is very important when selling on second hand goods to be specific and to get good reviews. Ask for a partial refund stating your reasons and if the seller agrees give her/him a good review.

Actually look at the clothes and compare them. The tiny baby stuff might be from a shop that sizes big, so really it's all the same size.

If it is actually tiny, then i think you're fine to ask for a partial return (a refund seems like a bit much, but I guess it depends how much of a refund).

OP you need to return the entire bundle.

Clothing sizes aren't exact so some of my daughter's newborn clothes were as big as her 0-3 month clothes.

I agree with advice above to compare sizes. They may be brands which come up big.

My babies were both over 8lb and never wore tiny baby clothes. If your babies over about 7.5lb chances are they'll never fit them.

The tiny baby stuff I have come across has been much smaller than newborn and so I always thought was intended for prem. So you'd have tiny baby, then newborn/0-1 months, then 0-3 months. On that basis I would ask to return and refund. Unless however tiny baby is not prem and does equate to newborn. As others have said though I would check against some newborn clothing.

If you're looking for budget friendly bundles where you can see the sizing then you might be better off using marketplace instead of eBay. Likely cheaper too.

@englishdictionary - I don't understand your point, sorry. Can you clarify.

To other people - There is a HUGE difference in size visually, which is why I checked (some of which are the same brand but in either the tiny baby sizing, or newborn). It's not a huge amount of money (£14), but I chose this bundle because it was listed as newborn, so I feel now it was over what I would have spend per baby grow that I can actually use. To clarify the written sizing actually states tiny baby and newborn, it isn't just a difference of size to my eye.

You can ask but don’t expect the seller to agree to it. If they don’t agree then your only option is to either request a full refund and return all of the items or keep the ones that do fit and try selling the ones that don’t back on. Leave neutral feedback.

I would sympathise here as the seller probably has a young baby and is sleep deprived.

I thought tiny baby clothes are are more for low birth weight/perm babies.

Yep Tiny is for low birthweight/prem babies.

2 of my DC were too tall for even newborn

I think tiny baby is for premature babies. I think you will have to either return the whole lot or keep it - I guess it depends on how much you like the other stuff. Have you contacted the seller? She should have mentioned it in the description - very misleading. Contact her and see if she will negotiate if the money is more than you're prepared to forget. And I think englishdictionary meant 'returning', not 'retiring'.

I don't think YABU to take action, tiny baby is the size below newborn. It's like paying for a bundle of 12 - 14 and getting a few 10s

Are you sure they weren't thrown in for free?

I'd suggest a partial refund but you have to be prepared to return them all if they dont want to do that.

My poor mum ended up at the 24 hour asda (two different branches) trying to track down tiny baby size clothes because dd was drowned by her newborn sleepsuit - despite a scan at 39 weeks saying she was close to 8 pounds, she was barely 6! Next baby clothes were huge too

Tiny baby and early baby are sizes smaller than newborn. A “standard”newborn baby would never need them. They are for very small/early babies and yes the description was inaccurate imo.

I would just politely say the clothing wasn't as advertised and you would like to return them all for a full refund.
