To ask for a partial refund on baby clothes bundle

Hello,

So I bought a bundle of clothes on ebay listed 'Newborn 0-1 month'. It was a bundle of 13 and they have just arrived and 5 of the 13 are 'Tiny baby'. I have already have a tonne of donated tiny baby stuff and there is no mention in the listing that the bundle included 'Tiny baby'. I am new to this whole Mum thing, but in my mind Tiny baby was different to Newborn. If I kne almost half would be tiny baby I wouldn't have bought it.
Would you request a partial refund, or should I just let it go?

Personally I’d just wash them and put them in the drawer. For £14 it’s really not worth any headspace when you don’t know whether they’ll fit your baby, they might well do. Then bundle them up afterwards, they might well fit your next one, if not, they’ll be appreciated by a woman’s shelter or other charity. Or take them into the hospital with you and if your baby is too big for them, donate them to the maternity ward.

IF spending that £14 is preventing you buying something else then by all means ask if they’ll consider a partial refund or sell them on yourself, but you’ll kick yourself if your baby turns out to be a little one who’d have worn them.

I would return on the grounds of not as described, my DD wouldn't even fit in newborn at birth let alone tiny baby !!! Tiny baby is baby's born premature or under 6/7 LBS....

There is such wrong advice on this thread, as per usual 😂

If you opened an item not as described case on eBay you'll win, simple as that. It's not as described.

They probably won't even ask you to return the clothes and you'll get a full refund.

Message the seller and say 'the clothes aren't the sizes advertised. I would like to keep the correct sized clothes, but of course I'd also like a partial refund. If this isn't acceptable, then please send me a postage label and I'll return the bundle'.

When she replies with excuses blah blah just open the case.

Simple as that

I'd ask for a refund or maybe some money back, but if it was cheap I don't think I'd bother. There is a big difference in size from tiny baby to newborn.

Tiny baby is really meant for super tiny / preemie babies - I def think this should have been mentioned. They shouldn’t have been sold as newborn.

I bought an 18-24 bundle and got sent some 12-18 which didn't fit. The seller said it was a genuine error and gave a partial refund.

Tiny baby isn't the same as newborn so you're right to be unhappy.

I was brave and emailed the seller saying that I wasn't happy as I didn't need any tiny baby clothing. She was very apologetic and has offered me a partial refund (which I didn't prompt for). Apparently she was selling for a friend and didn't realise they weren't all the same size. She was very reasonable about it, which is nice :)

I had to go out and buy " tiny baby" size for my second child. She weighed 6 pounds and newborn swamped her, so had to go out and buy more clothes.

I would definitely ask for a partial refund as they're not as described , if you'd known you wouldn't have bought them. As other people have said, tiny baby is normally prem. If you opened a dispute , eBay would back you

I would give the seller two options: partial refund or a return of the lot.

If you raise an ebay case, ebay will deduct the cost of the return from the seller so you will not pay this.

Ebay always side with the buyer these days.

Glad you got a good outcome. That is exactly what I would have done as a seller, stuff like this is almost always an accident, especially if listing lots of different things.

Reminded me of when I sold an absolute heap of newborn clothes though, everything you could possibly need for a baby and when my partner handed the bag over, didn't realise it had all the tiny baby Christmas stuff in too. I'm expecting again and will have to buy it all again now, and it would have been completely useless to whoever bought it in February Sad

As someone who regularly buys and sells baby/kids clothes on ebay I would 100% ask for a partial refund!

Glad you got sorted OP. I had to get tiny baby for my LO too. Agree with all posters for who have said it's all totally dependant on the shops being bigger/smaller sizing. Least you're getting a partial refund!

I think thats quite petty really. Youve got tonnes of stuff donated, and you bought a bundle for pretty cheap. So many people wont sell on ebay now because of stuff like this

Have you had the baby yet? I was told my baby was 7lb at a 38 week scan but was born at 40 weeks at 6lb 2oz and she needed tiny for ages - didn't go into newborn clothes until she was a month. You might need them after all.

Are the tiny baby outfits in the photos? If she advertised them as newborn and they aren’t you have every right to have a part refund but it’s a long drawn out process usually and she might ask for all of them back at your return cost. She may have added them as freebies, re read the listing properly first. If you aren’t happy message her then open a case or sell the tiny baby clothes on and earn some money back.

didn't understand the question about partially retiring the clothes.

Sorry OP, that was a typo. It was meant to say returning.

Clear case of items not as described. Newborn is an actual size as is tiny baby.

Good luck with that. I bet it was pretty cheap. Just let it go.
