I feel there is a lot of agenda here and whilst I can play along with the mods, sometimes I wonder what that agenda is?

Looks like it's more AndILost Sad Grin

NoSauce · 14/04/2019 20:47

PBP. Makes sense. Obvious shit stirrer.

PortiaCastis · 14/04/2019 20:49

Nice one Sparkling. Grin Grin

heartshapedknob · 14/04/2019 20:49

Ah, you were the delightful poster from earlier who suggested that autistic people shouldn’t breed and that their existence is a problem.
Do fuck off, there’s a dear.

thetwinkletoescollective · 14/04/2019 20:50

I also can't see whats wrong with guidelines when it comes to discussions anyway...free speech is not being allowed to say what ever you want. Its being able to express your opinion with respect and humility in order to understand others point of view or explore around a subject...eg looking where the evidence takes us....

shesgrownhorns · 14/04/2019 20:52

@FairEnuff

Thanks for clarifying. I now really want to talk about it though. Damn.

mbosnz · 14/04/2019 20:56

MNHQ, that has to be one of the funniest mod' interventions I've ever read. . .

'The right of free speech' isn't a get out of jail free card. It can and will have limitations. And responsibilities. . .

Fairenuff · 14/04/2019 20:58

shesgrownhorns

Let's just check that one out.

Just to put everyone's minds at rest, we definitely don't have any list here of 'banned subjects'

HebeMumsnet can we talk about the McCanns now?

shesgrownhorns · 14/04/2019 21:00

please?

chocolateworshipper · 14/04/2019 21:01

Meghan Markle was great in Suits, but I have it on good authority that she believes that Pom Bears aren't acceptable as a canape

shesgrownhorns · 14/04/2019 21:02

If we say 'allegedly" then can we talk about it?

Oh go on

superE · 14/04/2019 21:02

Oh my MNHQGrin this needs to be in classics just for that post!!

Ghanagirl · 14/04/2019 21:02

@AndIWon
So basically you want carteblanch

Ghanagirl · 14/04/2019 21:03

Whoops meant to say indulge in hate speech

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2019 21:04

The problem with threads about the disappearance of MM is that people can't seem to control themselves and accuse the parents of all sorts. Then it turns into a bunfight with loads of deletions and inevitably the thread gets deleted.
TBF is there anything new to say about it anyway? There must be lots of other sites where you speculate and accuse to your heart's content?

OhTheRoses · 14/04/2019 21:05

Seen all those things discussed. The forum is not quite as argumentatively and intellectually rigorous as it once was. But then it has broadened and become more populist. Five years ago I'd have said there was a chasm between Mnet and Netmums. Now I'd say a sliver. MNet has widened participation. To be applauded on one level but like the average academic union rep what's marxist at heart treasures its elitism.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 14/04/2019 21:08

@HebeMumsnet
Like your style 🤣🤣
Piss off with the torch though
To echo Sparkling brook
Who would have thought the op is a pbp.

chocolateworshipper · 14/04/2019 21:15

Meghan Markle used to live in an associate house in Northern Ireland, where she stood as a candidate for the DUP. Sadly when her benefits were cut, she became homeless (which in some ways was a blessing, given what her neighbours were like) and turned to alcohol to help cope with her depression. The NHS were of little help, but she did get some good advice from Mumsnet.

Ghanagirl · 14/04/2019 21:17

@Fairenuff
Why do people want to repeatedly discuss the McCanns and Meghan Markle in incredibly offensive ways at such a vitriolic level it’s pretty depressing.

Fairenuff · 14/04/2019 21:20

Ghanagirl

I don't know. I don't want to discuss them. It's just that, off that list, the McCanns was the only one that I have known to be banned. It's probably for legal reasons.

ElloBrian · 14/04/2019 21:21

Flowers MNHQ. You’ll need them once the ‘is Meghan Markle going to vaccinate her baby because autism’ threads start going GrinHmmAngryWine

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/04/2019 21:24

The problem with threads about the disappearance of MM is that people can't seem to control themselves and accuse the parents of all sorts. Then it turns into a bunfight with loads of deletions and inevitably the thread gets deleted

The same principle's seen on any thread about Meghan, no matter how anodyne ... sooner or later a poster turns up hurling accusations of racism like a pyrotechnic, irrespective of what's actually been said. Sadly some respond to the goading and before you know it the whole thing's descended into a massive bunfight and yet another deletion follows

Supersimpkin · 14/04/2019 21:25

The mods are more right than they know - policing free speech is tricky at the best of times, and we all know the big sites are struggling.

It's unfair to ask MN, a little local site that exists only to sell its aggregate users to advertisers, to take on the challenge of careful political or social censorship, and it would be silly to expect them to do it properly.

MN does very well out of selling us, which is fair game, but to users the value of the site exists only in subjects with knowledgeable posters and topics that mods can cope with.

Bob haircuts and crisps are a lot easier for MN - stick to those, that's where the value of MN lies for us users.

wwydoo · 14/04/2019 21:27

Had a post on Islamic extremism deleted yet white supremacy is fair game. (Was called racist yet have a Pakistani grandfather)

Ghanagirl · 14/04/2019 21:28

@Puzzledandpissedoff
That’s because a lot of the posters who start The Meghan threads say racist stuff on other threads
