Baby Name Conundrum - WIBU?

tempnamechange19 · 12/04/2019 19:03

I have name changed for this one as it is a tad outing.

My husband has come up with what he believes to be a beautiful and very fitting name for our new baby... I disagree.

The name is Byromi and is a mixture of our names.

I think that although it would be an unusual name, it is very lazy just to smash them together and it is also a bit odd sounding. He thinks I am being unreasonable not to even consider it.

Does anyone have any thoughts on either the name or the mixing of parents names to make a new name?

Thanks!

If I did this my baby would be called Kack...

KittyInTheCradle · 12/04/2019 20:25

How about just 'Romi' like romi & Michelle's highschool reunion? I think it's cute

LizzieBananas · 12/04/2019 20:29

Just call her Bryony.

polarpig · 12/04/2019 20:31

Conundrum would be a better name.

MovingThisYearDefinitely · 12/04/2019 20:32

Please don't. Definitely sounds like something from the Indian menu. Just pick a nice normal name. Flowers

daisypond · 12/04/2019 20:32

Ha! Romy and Bryony are real names, though. They’re both nice. Any good?

dreichuplands · 12/04/2019 20:33

No, just no.
Your baby is a person in their own right and deserves to have their own name.

GemmeFatale · 12/04/2019 20:38

If one likes traditional and the other unusual surely the answer is to find a traditional name that isn’t currently fashionable?

Enid, Jane, Josephine, Rebecca...

Pieceofpurplesky · 12/04/2019 20:39

Romy is a lovely name

WipeYourFeetOnTheRhythmRug · 12/04/2019 20:41

Ok, I am the contrary person on baby name threads who always likes the weird name.

Not this time. It’s bloody awful! Don’t do it.

BelulahBlanca · 12/04/2019 20:43

I really like Romy

Bankofenglandfiver · 12/04/2019 20:45

Gerorgiana? Wtf.

GreenTulips · 12/04/2019 20:55

I think you should get your husband a beer

Start as you mean to go on, he can get his own beer!

5thSparrow · 12/04/2019 21:01

@WorraLiberty 😂

lt reminds me of that actress who used to be on Emmerdale years ago. Her name was Malandra, a hybrid of her parents names, Malcolm and Sandra. Awful. There are so many pretty names, l can't understand why people feel the need to make names up.

Sugarformyhoney · 12/04/2019 21:56

I once knew a Sian pronounced ‘See-Ann’ after parents Simon and Ann 😂😂
They had no idea that the pronunciation was Sharne 🤢

Kitsandkids · 12/04/2019 22:15

I wouldn’t worry too much OP. When I was pregnant I liked traditional names too and my husband preferred more modern stuff. I had my heart set on a particular name all along and he always said he didn’t like it. We never came to agree on a name but once she was born he just said ‘so are we going to name her (the name I’d always wanted) then?’ And so we did!

itsbetterthanabox · 12/04/2019 23:03

@tempnamechange19
Yeah so he already got a to pick a name for the baby. You pick the first name.

MidniteScribbler · 13/04/2019 00:07

Actually I think you both should be banned from naming children. Georgiana? Poor kid.

Reminds me of the family friends we had growing up. Fred and Loretta. They named their child Fredetta. Poor girl celebrated her 18th birthday by getting her name legally changed.

mathanxiety · 13/04/2019 00:19

That is one of the most stupid names I have ever come across, and I live in the US so I have heard some doozies.

AyoadesChinDimple · 13/04/2019 02:39

Was also going to suggest Romy. It's really cute.

I worked with a woman who was married to a Stephen and their kids were called Stephen and Stephanie. Very odd.

mathanxiety · 13/04/2019 03:10

There is also the Anglicised Irish name Brona (optional Bronagh).

What about Naomi-Byron?

Then if you have another you could go Byron-Naomi, especially if it is a boy.

Sorry, nothing constructive to add except to echo everyone else saying DON'T DO IT

A friend from years ago called her daughter after two great grandmas, Rose and Isabel, making Rosabel, thinking it was a unique name. Unfortunately it was in my book of names and she wasn't happy when she found out it was already a name, albeit rare.

Ihatehashtags · 13/04/2019 06:55

Absolutely terrible. Just use a normal name for the child’s sake
