Baby Name Conundrum - WIBU?

tempnamechange19 · 12/04/2019 19:03

I have name changed for this one as it is a tad outing.

My husband has come up with what he believes to be a beautiful and very fitting name for our new baby... I disagree.

The name is Byromi and is a mixture of our names.

I think that although it would be an unusual name, it is very lazy just to smash them together and it is also a bit odd sounding. He thinks I am being unreasonable not to even consider it.

Does anyone have any thoughts on either the name or the mixing of parents names to make a new name?

Thanks!

Everyone I know with a made up name either hates it or uses their middle name and it all cases is pissed off with their parents

malmi · 12/04/2019 19:59

Chicken Byromi, £9.95. King prawns 50p extra. Medium spicy.

Byron85 · 12/04/2019 19:59

@Quintella never enough byrons in the world

alittlesnow · 12/04/2019 20:02

@tempnamechange19

OMG! I hate that. What an awful name.

BYROMI? Is this for real?! Shock

Don't FFS!

You did ask.

tempnamechange19 · 12/04/2019 20:02

@itsbetterthanabox Yes but that doesn't really have an impact on this.

@pigsDOfly I hope that he is just pulling my leg because I was so vocal about not liking it.

It wont be going on the list because I don't like it, but I was more intrigued as to whether it was just me or if people less familiar with the name would see it differently. I'm pleased that it isn't just me though although I do feel bad for him that everyone hates it so much! I think he might have genuinely thought it was a good idea! We will just have to get a dog one day, or a bungalow on the south coast... Grin

Bloody awful name.

starmummio · 12/04/2019 20:03

Hmmmm no

saraclara · 12/04/2019 20:03

Is he trolling you and us?

It's nuts and weird.
I'm named for my GGM (first name), GM and M (my middle names). I've always wished I'd been seen as a person in my own right, and had my own name. When we had children I was determined that they would have their own names, and not be named after anyone else.

But melding both your names is even worse. Ugh.

Whatsername7 · 12/04/2019 20:03

What about using the letters of your names? Niya would work and is pretty.

tempnamechange19 · 12/04/2019 20:03

@Rockmysocks Hahahahaha!

BarrenFieldofFucks · 12/04/2019 20:04

Nope nope nope.

Though to be fair Georgiana and Theodora are both a but overblown and try hard too. Evelyn is nice.

littlegecko · 12/04/2019 20:05

Not keen on Byromi...what about Nayron ?

Byron85 · 12/04/2019 20:07

@littlegecko. We have another genius.

Skyejuly · 12/04/2019 20:07

Keep it as a middle name.

Poppyinafieldofdreams · 12/04/2019 20:08

Mix it up a bit thus

You take the first letter of one and the second of the other and third of............and so on and you get

Barmi

alittlesnow · 12/04/2019 20:10

This has just put me in mind of a couple I knew in the early noughties who got a shitty little terraced dump in the middle of the west midlands, and called it 'TRAGAR' ... They were called Tracey and Gary.

Everyone took the piss. They were literally Vera and Jack Duckworth!

Whatsername7 · 12/04/2019 20:10

I do think your husband trolling you is genius and very funny! Me and dh couldnt decide until the day before dd7 was born (she was late too!) With dd2, it was much easier. Dd7 was having a tough time getting used to the fact she was no longer going to be an only. She wanted to know the sex so we decided to find out. Dh had expressed a hope for a boy, but dd2 was a girl. I asked him if he was disappointed and he said 'no, because now my favourite ever name can go on the table.' He told me the name and it just grew on me.

snowdrop6 · 12/04/2019 20:11

This has to be a wind up...I mean who in their right mind ..

Byron85 · 12/04/2019 20:13

@Whatsername7 I think the name DD7 is amazing. I am now thinking that DD8 is a brilliant name that might even trump the genius on Byromi. The world of endless possibilities. Thank you.

GlitterPixie · 12/04/2019 20:14

It’s a terrible idea

tempnamechange19 · 12/04/2019 20:17

Thank you everyone for your support! He has now gone off to make dinner and hopefully will take all your comments on board! :)

Byron get one free.

diddl · 12/04/2019 20:21

"Theodora, Gerorgiana and Evelyn."

Are there any parts of those names that you both like?

Dora, Georgia, Gina, Eve/a for example?

alittlesnow · 12/04/2019 20:22

Why not name the baby after your favourite eaterie?

Like Wayne and Waynetta who named their first-born Spud-u-like... (pronounced spudoo-leck-ay... ) Grin Smile
