Blue-Footed Booby

DH and I were having a debate about whether the blue-footed booby was a well-known bird. I suggested posting a poll to FB, but we agreed that this would probably be biased, since people are more likely to respond if they have heard of it...

But here in the lovely world of mumsnet anonymity, AIBU to ask if you've heard of the blue-footed booby?

No

NameChangeJustBecauseICan · 10/04/2019 21:56

No. Never heard of it

Al2O3 · 10/04/2019 21:57

Yes. Ornithologist here since before colour TV was mainstream.

I also 'tit-tered' about shags and cocks then and even now.

movinonup · 10/04/2019 21:57

Yes, But only because they were featured in an episode of little einsteins that the DC watched around 5 or 6 years ago :)

WhiskersPete · 10/04/2019 22:27

Yeah - DP had a birthday card with a blue footed booby on.

AlliKaneErikson · 10/04/2019 22:55

Of course; I’m pretty sure it was Little Einsteins on Disney Junior where there was a whole episode about them when my dc were little (I really need to google the song now!).

Deadlysinner · 10/04/2019 22:58

My mum loves them! The blue feet and the dancing! There's probably a direct correlation with number of David Attenborough documentaries watched!

ShaggyRug · 10/04/2019 23:14

Best bird name ever!

I’ve heard of them yes.

TamarindTapir · 10/04/2019 23:17

Yes - I’ve seen them in the Galápagos Islands. They’re such characters!

Steamfan · 10/04/2019 23:19

Yes

strawberrypenguin · 10/04/2019 23:20

Yes. They mention it in Paw Patrol too 🙈

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 10/04/2019 23:21

Dislike. Sounds chavvy and it's near the top 100.

Never heard of them before this thread. Just googled and they are well cute!

VampirateQueen · 10/04/2019 23:35

Yes, love them. I had to prove to my DH they were real though, he thought they were made up for Paw Patrol Hmm

AuntieStella · 10/04/2019 23:36

Yes - it was an answer in a quiz

SnowdropsiUnderTrees · 10/04/2019 23:40
