I have an online shop. Message below from a customer.

I cancelled and refunded her as I am obviously too stupid to post her item!! Cheeky Cow! Angry

Hi there. I'm ordering this for a master's degree project and would appreciate the most expedited shipping I can afford. Not that you could possibly know what that is, but I'm willing to pay a bit more to get it sooner if that's at all possible. Thanks!

So you've cancelled and refunded. The customer won't get the money back for several days while it's processed. All because you took offence wrongly . . Let's hope they can afford to pay again and get it through in time!

You have definitely misinterpreted and reacted in the wrong way.

But, even if she did mean that, if you run a business but refuse to deal with customers who you think might be a little bit rude, you won’t have a business for very long.

Send her an email apologising for the clerical error of cancelling her order and let her know what expedited postage you can offer.

Wow! You have really misunderstood this and reacted in a slightly bonkers way. Turns out you really didn't understand!

The buying was saying 'I would like to know what the expedited shipping costs are that will fit my budget. Unfortunately, you can't possibly know what the budget is!'. The correct response would have been to give them a few options and they could pick one that fits your budget.

Out of curiosity, what online shop is this? So we can avoid it.

Poor student. You've proper screwed them over for no reason. My advice is to think before you respond next time.

To be fair t the OP, I think the customer worded her request very badly. What’s wrong with “I need this as soon as possible, please could you let me know what delivery methods are available, and their costs”.

I recently had an order I was waiting for cancelled and the money refunded. No explanation given.
When I phoned to ask why was told they'd been unable to source the items (they were plants) which I thought was strange as still being advertised.
Now thinking I must have offended them by my excessive politeness Confused.

Anyone can make a mistake. Is it absolutely necessary to humiliate OP like some people did on this thread? This is an awkward wording.
I bet if the customer said after "would appreciate the most expedited shipping I can afford" - "I don't know how much it would be, but if you tell me, I'll pay it" the order would never be cancelled.
Maybe just not your day, OP, but hope your business does well. And that she gets the item she needs.
