I'm 99.9% certain this never contained palm oil. Yet now it does? What the eff and geoff is wrong with having PEANUT OIL in Peanut butter?!

Other than the fact they can obviously replace it with bloody Palm Oil and sell the peanut oil on for a profit 🙄

Didn't it used to just be peanuts in it? Wasn't that their whole marketing strategy?

Now to get palm oil free Peanut Butter I have to pay £5 for a jar the size of a small Marmite pot 😭

Can I recommend making your own? We buy cheap peanuts from Aldi or Lidl, then blend them with a splash of veg oil.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/04/2019 11:20

How do you blend them? I once tried to make hummous in a jug blender and burned out the motor!

picklemepopcorn · 06/04/2019 12:30

Food processor or blender. Depends how powerful yours is, I have two. One does small amounts in seconds, the other needs several minutes of pulsing and scraping but makes a giant jar full.

BikeRunSki · 06/04/2019 12:38

LordProf roast the peanuts first, about 10 mins on 180ish. This makes them a bit more brittle and releases some of their oil, which both make the peanuts easier to blend. I also do an initial bash of the peanuts with a rolling pin in a freezer bag. I have burnt out two blenders..... I realised that actually bulk buying from Amazon was a similar prices to buying thr peanuts, but now I am concerned about all the plastic tubs.

Cheeserton · 06/04/2019 12:44

YANBU. Palm oil sucks.

Lulu1919 · 06/04/2019 12:46

Tesco own brand peanut butters only contain peanuts !

MiniMum97 · 06/04/2019 13:17

Tesco now do a very reasonably priced own brand peanut butter with nothing in it other than peanuts. No sugar, no salt, no random oils. Just peanuts.

picklemepopcorn · 06/04/2019 13:58

@LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD I should have said I use roasted peanuts. Just the normal cheap peanuts, not raw or anything.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 06/04/2019 14:57

PickaChew I bought that Whole Earth palm oil free peanut butter and it was vile. It was runny and had hardly any flavour, probably as it doesn't contain salt or sugar! Back to Sunpat crunchy!

Tanaqui · 15/04/2019 20:15

Tried the pip and nut off the back of this thread and omg it is so runny- way too runny to put on an oatcake. Might be good to cook with.
