AIBU to think asking a 5 year old to say toilet tissue is a horrible genteelism?

It's loo paper, and you flush it down a loo.

Also, has anyone else noticed how dusty it is?

Its loo roll in our house. The words bog roll quite literally make me cringe. Ugh!

Not posh enough for the toilet tissue though lol!

BuffaloCauliflower · 01/04/2019 15:28

It’s definitely loo roll. Toilet tissue sounds common trying to sound posh.

SimonitesSocks · 01/04/2019 15:28

Loo roll here.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 01/04/2019 15:28

Toilet / loo roll / paper here, never tissue. Tissue is the nice soft stuff in a box for blowing your nose.

mclaleli · 01/04/2019 15:29

I have never said loo paper, or referred to the toilet as a loo.

It's generally toilet roll here, although to be correct it's toilet paper (which is on a roll)

Tissue is a horrible word

Especially when pronounced "tiss-you".

How do you pronounce it?

Greenlegobox · 01/04/2019 15:29

I hate the word loo.

Bobbindobbin · 01/04/2019 15:30

We call is boggy

EscapeAnywhere · 01/04/2019 15:31

@Greenlegobox

I hate the word loo

Out of interest - why?

Greenlegobox · 01/04/2019 15:33

Not sure why I hate it. I just do. It makes me cringe.

RomanyQueen1 · 01/04/2019 15:33

It's toilet paper, or toilet tissue, unless you have it in other rooms for other purposes.

SrSteveOskowski · 01/04/2019 15:35

Yes, that does bring up the whole 'tiss-you' or 'tish-o' debate. Tish-o for me.

bsc · 01/04/2019 15:36

Who in earth says tissue?
Loo roll here.

Glitterblue · 01/04/2019 15:37

Toilet roll or loo roll her. Toilet tissue sounds like something my first boyfriend's mother would say

mclaleli · 01/04/2019 15:37

Yes, that does bring up the whole 'tiss-you' or 'tish-o' debate. Tish-o for me.

This is a debate?

Literally never heard anyone say Tish-o in my life!

spanishwife · 01/04/2019 15:37

Toilet roll or toilet paper.

The word bog is awful when referring to a toilet (and not an actual bog)

MikeUniformMike · 01/04/2019 15:38

bog roll or toilet paper if I am in polite company.

NiteFlights · 01/04/2019 15:38

Loo roll or loo paper. Surely ‘toilet tissue’ is an advertising/marketing phrase. I have never heard anyone say it. I also hate the word ‘bog’ in this context.

IndigoSpritz · 01/04/2019 15:38

Bogroll chez Indigo, Nicky brand. Is Petal toilet tissue still made ?

GetOffTheTableMabel · 01/04/2019 15:39

Oh my god. Toilet tissue? What mimsy shite is that?
Not toilet. Not tissue.
Loo roll.

Greenlegobox · 01/04/2019 15:39

We say tish-oo!

WeeDangerousSpike · 01/04/2019 15:40

Loo / toilet roll.

My great great aunt (who was quite odd in lots of ways) wouldn't buy loo roll, she was too embarrased, so she bought massive amounts of boxed tissues instead.

flowery · 01/04/2019 15:40

Toilet roll.

But tissue is pronounced “tishoo”.

Mallardia · 01/04/2019 15:40

Can't stand the word 'loo'. Toilet paper/toilet roll in my house.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 01/04/2019 15:41

Toilet roll or paper. I also hate the word loo. It’s toilet or Lavatory dependant on who I am talking to.
And I say tish-you (Scottish)

notangelinajolie · 01/04/2019 15:42

Toilet Paper/Toilet Roll

I never use the word loo and a tissue is something you use to blow your nose.
