Skinny Milk instead of Skim Milk - silly pet peeves

le42 · 30/03/2019 11:03

Annoys me when coffee shops say skinny milk/coffee instead of just skim - which is the name of the milk and a shorter word!

What silly pet peeves do you have?

OP posts:
Shoppingwithmother · 30/03/2019 11:07

People who say “skim” milk, instead of “skimmed,” which is what it is called!

UtterlyDesperate · 30/03/2019 11:07

Actually, though, it's "skimmED" milk Grin

I've not noticed this, but I hate being asked if I want some "naughtiness" with my coffee. What's wrong with "food"?!

UtterlyDesperate · 30/03/2019 11:07

X post Grin

Isitteayourlookingfor · 30/03/2019 11:08

Ha ha, what shopping said

Hollowvictory · 30/03/2019 11:08

Yabu it's skimmed not skim. 'skinny' is shorthand for coffee with skimmed milk. So I say skinny latte instead of skimmed milk latte.

Rumbletum2 · 30/03/2019 11:09

Skim milk instead of skimmed is far worse.

Hazeintheclouds · 30/03/2019 11:09

Skimmed. To say “skim” is like saying text instead of texted.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 30/03/2019 11:10

I came on to say what everyone else has said! Grin

skimmed!

Shoppingwithmother · 30/03/2019 11:10

Agree 100% Hollow - skinny latte is fine

ILoveMaxiBondi · 30/03/2019 11:11

I've not noticed this, but I hate being asked if I want some "naughtiness" with my coffee.

Urgh!! That sounds really sleazy! Who asks you this?

GamesOfThrones · 30/03/2019 11:11

Yabu to have anything but whole milk

nevernotstruggling · 30/03/2019 11:12

Naughtiness???? Jesus ducking Christ.

I don't really care what you term the coffee product as long as you don't request it with 'can I get?'

00100001 · 30/03/2019 11:12

Yay to skimmed
? Are you American?

ScreamingValenta · 30/03/2019 11:13

I hate all these silly names for coffee nowadays.

Shoppingwithmother · 30/03/2019 11:13

I know, struggling - I always hope they invite the person to come behind the counter and “get” it themselves

AnemoneAnenome · 30/03/2019 11:15

I've never heard anyone talk of "skim coffee". Or skimmed.

flugelhorn81 · 30/03/2019 11:15

Eek yep sorry OP, I agree with the others, it's skimmed milk. Skim milk is more irritating!

LividLaughLove · 30/03/2019 11:15

I shudder at "skim" milk, "mash" potato and "pack" lunch.

(And wtaf is a "packup", while we're at it?)

WingBingo · 30/03/2019 11:17

Yes screamingvalenta I agree!

I refer to them as a fuckacinos or cockacinos. Just don’t cock about with coffee please.

QuestionableMouse · 30/03/2019 11:20

Packup is a term for a packed lunch. It has been for at least 50 years.

Before dad retired, he used to take his bait to work with him 😂😂😂

CatGoals · 30/03/2019 11:22

There’s no rule to say that the past tense of text has to be a regular -ed

AnnettePrice · 30/03/2019 11:23

Fruits in supermarkets which are called ‘easy peelers’.

There is no such fruit! It an attribute of the fruit that it is easy to peel, not its name.

Hazeintheclouds · 30/03/2019 11:24

Oh bloody hell. Now people can faff around with tenses. I suppose some will also use “chest of draws” also?
🤣

Hazeintheclouds · 30/03/2019 11:25

I suppose some will use “chest of draws” also.

(Apologies!)

ILoveMaxiBondi · 30/03/2019 11:28

“Chest of draws”

Always make me picture a heavily tattooed chest being described by a child. Grin
