Skinny Milk instead of Skim Milk - silly pet peeves

Annoys me when coffee shops say skinny milk/coffee instead of just skim - which is the name of the milk and a shorter word!

What silly pet peeves do you have?

siameasy oh I'm sorry do you not like being unreasonably judged?

I don't care but what you said is rude and its clear from your 'opinion' what kind of person you are.

le42 · 30/03/2019 14:00

How does everyone feel about eXpresso instead of eSpresso? 😂

How does everyone feel about eXpresso instead of eSpresso?

Grrrrrr!!!!

It's obviously an Italian word, so why wouldn't it differ from the English equivalent?

If you somehow don't realise that it isn't the English word' express', why do you suppose they've put an 'o' at the end?!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 30/03/2019 14:36

Oh, and No, you may NOT have 'a panini' (even if you did say 'may/could I HAVE' and not 'can I GET') - as there is no such thing.

You may however, with my blessing and finest felicitations, have a panino or two or more panini. Do you want it on a plates? Cutlery are just in front of you. Grin

SalmonFishing · 30/03/2019 14:39

Only insufferable twats ask for a panino.

BritWifeinUSA · 30/03/2019 14:50

I could write a book about the things they say wrongly here...

SalmonFishing · 30/03/2019 14:51

'things they say wrongly'

Grin
Absolutepowercorrupts · 30/03/2019 14:52

Doesn't matter to me either way because I don't drink milk. I can't stand any kind of milk.

we built this buffet on sausage roll
Krankenwagenfahrer.
That's a fantastic word.

TheLoneWolfDies · 30/03/2019 15:41

Salmonfishing spot on! Fucking panino.. get a grip 😂 it doesn't matter if its italian, we're not in Italy!

TheLoneWolfDies · 30/03/2019 15:42

People who call a deli a delicatessan every time they say it 😐

Dramatical · 30/03/2019 15:42

It says panini on the packet so it's a bit crap to be miffed at people for saying it!

Siameasy · 30/03/2019 15:54

I’d rather be considered rude than pretend not to notice that “we have a problem with overweight” despite an apparently thriving diet-products industry. Keep putting your hands over your ears and we will wake up in 10 years time to a place where the non overweight are a minority and are considered anorexic.

I object to “skinny” because it’s said that skimmed milk is fed to pigs to fatten them. Along with that other low fat dieters’ favourite-grain. “Heart healthy whole grains”. So I suspect a big old con.

Skimmed milk is a waste product. Attach a “healthy” tag to it and ££££.

Originofstars · 30/03/2019 15:58

It's neither skim nor skimmed milk. It's red milk Grin

borntobequiet · 30/03/2019 16:02

Gosh this is fun.

HeronLanyon · 30/03/2019 16:14

Skimmed !!
Fun day coke
Cheeky anything
Crafty anything
Over easy (lovely In us but pretentious when used here in shoredtich oops uk)
Agree more than I can express with easy peelers - makes me think they think we are all about 2.5 !
Frying off. The off can F off.
Word play with gin brands.
Word play with micro brewery brands
Mac n cheese
Cheese toastie it’s the ‘toastie’ I really hate
Anything which indicates we shouldn’t really be eating something or which indicates how much we should have - naughty anything, grab bag (what in earth does that mean), sharing bag, treat as advertising on package, ‘family-sized’
Got to stop !!!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 30/03/2019 16:16

Salmonfishing spot on! Fucking panino.. get a grip 😂 it doesn't matter if its italian, we're not in Italy!

Then why not just say sandwich?!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 30/03/2019 16:26

Only insufferable twats ask for a panino.

So that would be the vast majority of Italians, then???

I know the manufacturers get it wrong too - I just have no idea why they or anybody would borrow another language's word but continually use it incorrectly.

FWIW, I've never asked for one myself - as a Brit, I would usually just ask for a toastie.

Nobody is saying that you have to agree with me or anybody else - I'm just discussing incorrect language usage on a thread about incorrect language usage.

Siameasy · 30/03/2019 16:27

Heron
Agree with all of your list

Also hate “buttered” toast especially as it’s probably Marg lol -
it’s toast with butter veg with butter and it’s “butter” flavour popcorn as no one has applied butter to each kernel you absolute morons 😂

ememem84 · 30/03/2019 16:44

I’m the knobber who ordered ds a babychino the other day and then posted on Facebook about it...

I draw the line at bambinocino a la pizza express though.

This thread gets weirder.

What have any of your ramblings about fat people got to do with the tbread?

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 30/03/2019 16:54

"Also hate “buttered” toast especially as it’s probably Marg lol"
It's been buttered (or marged) therefore it's buttered toast...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 30/03/2019 16:58

I really fancy some hot toast dripping with butter right now.

keepondreaming · 30/03/2019 17:02

"Spends" as in I have my holiday spends put aside or we'll need extra spends for that day out.
WTF are "spends"? It's spending money or even just money!
Puts my teeth on edge!

Dramatical · 30/03/2019 17:05

I don't get the toast one. Toast with butter on it IS buttered toast.

The random marg comment as well - hate that, it's margarine Grin
