To tell 12yold the real meaning

Year 7. Keep coming back with playground talk which is inappropriate and incorrect. We have a very open relationship and I encourage them to talk to me. Tonight he laughed and said I just teabagged the dog. I questioned what he said and he says that everyone says it at school and he thinks it means to sit on. I hated being made to feel stupid by not knowing stuff at school (I was very innocent) but equally don't want to project. Wibu to tell him what it means?

OP posts:
Happyspud · 26/03/2019 15:46

Christ, a lot of people on here who’ve never teabagged in their life😂

ShaggyRug · 26/03/2019 17:04

It’s quite worrying that people think a dog is involved. Seriously people no dogs are related to the phrase teabagging ffs 🤦🏻‍♀️

SoupDragon · 26/03/2019 17:15

Of course there's a dog involved - the OP's DS specifically said he had teabagged the dog.

Lweji · 26/03/2019 17:22

He probably did mean it in the fortnite sense. Grin

Urban dictionary:
2) Continiously (!) crouching on a dead body in a video game.

I'll have to probe DS now. Wink

Ellieswede · 26/03/2019 17:31

I would definately tell him. He is old enough to understand and also to learn to find out what things mean before using certain language. Our kids are exposed way too early and need us parents to talk about it before others do by normalise it using proper language and explanations. Sex is something they will all experience eventually and to learn about it from Google or worse, porn, is not the way to go. There are lots of books to get on the subject and tackle it yourself! Good luck! It's worth it.

Technonan · 26/03/2019 17:36

I'd certainly make sure he knew it had a sexual meaning - I wouldn't want him to embarrass himself by using it inappropriately. I'd probably say something about it being something to do with oral sex.

darthbreakz · 26/03/2019 17:50

Tell him. I'd tell any of my kids and they're all younger than 12. The majority of the kids that are saying it probably don't know what it means and I think it's always better if they do.

Nearly47 · 26/03/2019 17:51

Tell him. He is 12 not 5. No need too much detail. Just say it is a sex act. If he is anything I like my 12 years old he won't asking anything further and blush a lot. They what sex is. And soon before he himself in an awkward situation.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 26/03/2019 18:13

What a disgusting expression and disgusting act too!

applesarerroundandshiny · 26/03/2019 18:14

Yes I would have explained the term to DS at 12. Primary school I may have just said it was inappropriate or 'not nice words' but at 12 would def tell.

genius1308 · 26/03/2019 18:33

Heres Cosmopolitans detailed explanation Wink www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/love-sex/sex/a19407436/what-is-teabagging/

ShaggyRug · 26/03/2019 18:46

Of course there's a dog involved - the OP's DS specifically said he had teabagged the dog.

Yes but somebody suggested that the correct definition was genitals touching a dog .... which it most definitely ISN’T!

Lovemusic33 · 26/03/2019 18:47

I’m pretty open with my kids ind if they come out with something like that I tell them what it actually means, mainly because I don’t want them using these terms incorrectly. If one of them was to use the term ‘teabagging’ I would tell them what it meant and tell that it’s inappropriate to say such things.

ShaggyRug · 26/03/2019 18:48

I was specially referring to this post:

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend

Of course he needs to know, it’s not a hard topic to discuss tbh.

Ds teabagging means your gentials/penis/willy has touched a dog...

This is NOT the correct definition.

SoupDragon · 26/03/2019 19:14

Yes but somebody suggested that the correct definition was genitals touching a dog .... which it most definitely ISN’T!

Only because he said he'd teabagged a bloody dog!

If he'd said he'd teabagged the cat they'd have used the word cat there.

SoupDragon · 26/03/2019 19:17

This is stupid

🤦‍♀️

spidersonmyceiling · 26/03/2019 19:19

Re twat, the poet Robert Browning in Victorian times thought it meant part of a nun's habit, and no one was man enough to tell him what it really meant, which is the same as it does nowadays. He'd read it in an old poem and misunderstood it, and yes back in the 17th century it meant the same as it does today. So he used it in a poem which was mysteriously very popular. For the full tale

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/03/2019 19:23

Heres Cosmopolitans detailed explanation

Teabagging is the action of a man or penis-having person dipping their balls in and out of your mouth

"man or penis-having person" ? Confused

Thehop · 26/03/2019 19:37

My 9 year old ds came out with this after school last week. Apparently they sat it on fortnite when they sit on each other.

I told him it’s a really adult term for something sexual that I don’t want him knowing about yet but that he absolutely couldn’t use it.

ShaggyRug · 26/03/2019 19:54

SoupDragon

I refer again to the post from HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend

Of course he needs to know, it’s not a hard topic to discuss tbh.

Ds teabagging means your gentials/penis/willy has touched a dog...

If OP had told DS teabagging means your gentials/penis/willy has touched a dog...
they would definitely have been WRONG! This is the post I was referring to. Not what the DS said 🤦🏻‍♀️

GoldenHour · 26/03/2019 19:59

This post and the responses are hilarious.

Yes characters can tea bag in computer games, GTA is it? But it's not a different form of teabagging, it is the same kind, they are just mimicking it...so if your kids are doing it I'd tell them to pack it in lol.

jadeyfly · 26/03/2019 20:20

Usually a term used in gaming. Random fact as well in case anyone comes across this term as well, clan slamming is the female version of t bagging Grin

jadeyfly · 26/03/2019 20:31

Clam*

GoldenHour · 26/03/2019 20:35

@jadeyfly when I read your post I was thinking clam would sound better 😂

GeeksCanBeMumsToo · 26/03/2019 20:54

I’d tell him but no make a big deal out of it. I’m sure there’s a lot of even worse stuff that he does know the meaning of!
