Aibu to be furious with barber

So I took ds for a much needed tidy up haircut. It was a bit longer than in the 3rd pic. He chose a style he likes and that will be ok with school.

The blurred out pic is ds, the other what he wanted.

He previously had lots of beautiful blonde curls. They have given him a number 4 and cut his ear.

I know I am probably being a bit dramatic but I could honestly cry. His hair grows really really really slowly too. This is only his fifth or sixth haircut ever because it's curly it stays short for ages.

I refused to pay because it looks nothing like what he asked for. He's upset about loosing his curls and I'm not sure school will be overly happy with it either.

I told him he wouldn't keep most of his curls. The first pic is where he has been shaved, the middle is roughly the style he wanted and the third is how it normally is just after it has been cut.

I'm really confused. The 1st and 3rd pictures look identical to me.

Is the middle one the post-haircut picture? It looks really nice. I'm a teacher and can't understand why the school would be unhappy if it's the middle photo.
The hair on the 1st and 3rd looks curly and not very long. I'm not sure how you could give much of a cut and still keep the curls.

You are being totally unreasonable here, sorry. The boy in the middle picture has straight, very thick hair, and your son has thinner curly hair. They’re as similar as they could ever be. I would go to the barber, apologise and pay (and leave a big tip).

The 1st and the 3rd picture are the same with a dinosaur in the background.

With the style in the middle I don't see how he could have kept any curls it's to short

After seeing the latest photo - it's ok, very short though.
What exactly are your school rules?

Cross posted.

OK, now I've seen the new picture I can see why you and your son are disappointed. It's clearly much shorter than you'd asked for.
Having said that, at least it's neat and tidy. It's not an extreme haircut so I can't see any problems with the school.

Curls need length to curl, so telling them to cut it short doesn't help.

Sorry about that. Pp is what he has now. Middle pic is what he wanted (with an explanation that it wouldn't look exactly like that because it's blonde and curly not brown and straight)

His hair is too fine and too thin for the style he wanted. Yes it's much too short but it'll grow.

The photo you've just posted is nothing like the one in your post at 16:43. They obviously didn't listen or couldn't do it properly, & should have said so before cutting it. Can you explain to school that the hairdresser screwed up?

SoupDragon · 21/03/2019 17:02

I'm not sure he was ever end up with hair like the picture if it's curly. A hairdresser might have been able to blow dry it straight like that but it wouldn't naturally end up like that.

I like it. His hair will grow.

OP, your post comes across as really daft. First of all, there is no clear way to see the before and after hair style of your actual son. Secondly, the chosen style in the middle picture is actually really short, straight hair, so never going to translate into having curly hair.

I'm not sure how you thought he was going to keep his curls if you wanted the middle pic of the original set of photos you posted. However, I can see that the final result is very different and obviously not what either of you wanted, though I can't see why the school would be unhappy.

FlopsyMopsyRabbit · 21/03/2019 17:03

It's what I would've expected from the cut he asked for as his hair is a complete different texture and thickness to the photo he wanted.

Why would school be unhappy?

Report
peppaaargh · 21/03/2019 17:03

Why on earth would school mind that haircut? You just need to put some gel on it so it stands up a bit like the boy on the pic he wanted.

He'll be happy then. He wanted it to spike up but it's been left flat!

LindaLa · 21/03/2019 17:03

After seeing that photo, it is short but I don't think too bad.
How old is he?
He'll be fine in primary but not secondary with hair that short, imho.

Pick your battles, it's hair, it'll grow back.

Did the barbe have his fucking glasses on! Yeah I’d have refused to pay too!

Don’t show your son your upset though as you will make him paranoid
