to ask if you had a longterm first love, do you still think about them?

My first love really shaped my life and has influenced everything I do and in many ways the way I think. It was a 4 year relationship and very intense at times. We met when I was 16 and split when I was 20.

I am happily married now and I haven't seen him in over 20 years but I do think about him every day, even if it is just a passing thought. I think the intensity of first love means they are unforgettable in a way that subsequent relationships often aren't.

If you had a long first relationship do you still think about them more than subsequent relationships?

I shudder and think how glad I am I never have to see him again. He was fine, it was just that intense young teenage love where we were disgustingly over the top for a few years and suddenly overnight for some reason I couldn't stand him looking at me or touching me or talking to me or generally being anywhere in the same county.

Hmmm. I'm not 100% sure I would recognise my first love now! Although we were together a few years I have quite vague memories really.

I think it's probably because in reality, my DH was my first love, but we only went out for a few months when I was young. We then split up and only got together again ten years later. It was really him I always wanted.

This post actually made me run to FB to check my first love. I, too, have DCs and partner now, am happy with my life, but think of him quite often. I just hope he's as happy as I am now, and, at least, from FB, it looks he is.
