I voted Remain. The result was to Leave. So we should. Definitely won't be signing. YABU.

Topseyt · 21/03/2019 08:43

Signed it last night. I think AIBU is a perfect place to put this. Who even looks at the petitions board?

Bowchicawowow · 21/03/2019 08:46

A petition isn’t going to overturn a referendum result.

HotpotLawyer · 21/03/2019 08:47

ColdFingers: exactly because of the way it was framed many leavers are not getting what they wanted, what they they thought they were getting or what they thought they wanted either.

Why should anyone feel obliged to be apathetic? Lobby for what you actually believe.

Shookethtothecore · 21/03/2019 08:52

I don’t get the country voted already bleating. We vote over few years on our government and if we feel they are doing a good job or not and can be voted out of we disagree, Brexit will be forever, and 2 years down the line they are clearly not doing a good job with it by anyone’s standards. I think it warrants another vote. I will always be angry at the way this has been handled. It should never have been a yes no vote and we should have voted along the way on what type of Brexit we wanted and then negotiated with the eu accordingly. We are negotiating with no clear idea of what we want and it will never work

Bowchicawowow · 21/03/2019 08:55

When you vote in a general election you do so knowing this determines who they Government will be for the next few years. The referendum vote was to determine either staying in or leaving the EU permanently.

pastabest · 21/03/2019 08:56

It's quite addictive watching the numbers pretty flying up whichever way you feel about it.

ColdFingered · 21/03/2019 08:56

I think it warrants another vote. I would be delighted to have another vote, and the electorate vote overwhelmingly for remaining. But if there's another vote, is there evidence that would happen? Sad If it's another close vote, but remain winning, that won't settle things at all.

Ohyesiam · 21/03/2019 09:00

I got s message that said

HotpotLawyer · 21/03/2019 09:01

wotsittoyou · 21/03/2019 09:02

Almost 600,000 votes a few minutes ago, now it's inaccessible.

IceRebel · 21/03/2019 09:04

I'm now getting a down for maintenance error. Thankfully I managed to sign it earlier, i've never seen a petition rise so fast. Shock

NewYear2018 · 21/03/2019 09:04

Signed.
This is a disaster for our country, especially our young people; the majority of whom were not in favour of leaving the EU.

blackteasplease · 21/03/2019 09:05

I can't get onto it either!

HotpotLawyer · 21/03/2019 09:05

It was well over 600,000 when I last looked.

Home77 · 21/03/2019 09:06

I get

Petitions is down for maintenance

We know about it and we're working on it.

Please try again later.

When i try to sign it.

Melroses · 21/03/2019 09:06

Broken.

Gone2far · 21/03/2019 09:07

If more young people had bothered to vote in the 1st place i'd have more sympathy for them

VeniVidiViciTwice · 21/03/2019 09:07

I can't get on but I would sign, I will keep trying.

TantrumAndMeltdownNegotiator · 21/03/2019 09:08

odd that the link has now broken....

although signed it last night

LucyAutumn · 21/03/2019 09:08

Crashed at around 617,000

Clavinova · 21/03/2019 09:09

The petition is trending in France - so unless you can confirm that the people signing it are eligible to vote in a second referendum it's not going to sway things on its own. A second referendum is likely to be as close as the first one.

PositiveDiscipline · 21/03/2019 09:10

I am not going to sign the petition because I actually no longer care. I voted Brexit when I returned to live here after 20 years away. I honestly believe that it could have been the best thing for us and a massive opportunity to hit the reset button on this sinking country.

Its not going to work though is it. British people are more interested in getting their lashes done and watching Eastenders than galvanising behind crap government after crap government run by career politicians.
Once we remain in Europe the EU will push forward with its plans and there will be nothing you can do about it. You won't ever be able to have a say on anything, will continue to be the EU's cash cow and they will carry on milking us and it will be what we deserve.

Colourpencils · 21/03/2019 09:11

Just reported on BBC - the petition. Really hope they get it back up again

PositiveDiscipline · 21/03/2019 09:11

against not behind crap governments.
