To think that Teresa May's speech this evening was an absolute fucking disgrace?

'You, the public, have had enough.
“You’re tired of the infighting, you’re tired of the political games and the arcane procedural rows, tired of MPs talking about nothing else but Brexit when you have real concerns about our children’s schools, our National Health Service, knife crime'.

“You want this stage of the Brexit process to be over and done with. I agree. I am on your side. ”

So: 'You’re tired of all the shit that my party and my government have caused eg through years of cuts to the health and police services. It's not my fault that Brexit has been so appallingly badly handled, I'm only the Prime Minister and it's everyone else's fault. So why not just let me have my way and things will all get better? I am a mindreader and presume to know what you want, even though I display zero empathy in my public utterances, and I know you all want Brexit (even though only a small proportion of the electorate actually voted for it, 3 years ago)'.

We’re finished as a country if this is the best we can do, it is just heartbreaking that our country has been brought to this. I cant believe that this woman is in a position of such power and represents our country.

I don't WANT you on my side, just get away from me.

I’m confused - if this petition recurs millions and millions of votes - then what? The mps debate and then what? Reverse the brexit decision?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 21/03/2019 13:42

MrPan - check your junk mail - that's where my email went.

AstonishedFemalePersonator · 21/03/2019 13:42

No one knows, NC.

ScarletBitch · 21/03/2019 13:42

She is right we are tired off it, but she is the one dragging it out trying to get her Deal out over and over, always with the same outcome.

bellabasset · 21/03/2019 13:59

The email took about 45 minutes to come through and it's on it's way to 940 000. Watching for the first million.

anonymousbird · 21/03/2019 14:31

Racing towards 1,000,000 at a phenomenal rate.

Still only just over 2% of the electorate though......

MyNameIsArthur · 21/03/2019 14:40

I would be happy for the New Zealand pm to be running this country. She seems to have morals and empathy

Limensoda · 21/03/2019 14:46

May was arrogant and patronising.
She's obsessed with her stupid deal to the point she puts it ahead of everything and everybody.
I think she's lost the plot, deranged woman.

MyNameIsArthur · 21/03/2019 14:53

I think she wants her name in history above anything else

WaterQuarter · 21/03/2019 14:58

Well she's guaranteed that. Maybe not for the reasons she'd like, but there we have it.

Mummyoflittledragon · 21/03/2019 15:07

Absolutely appalled. Sadly I’m too ill to attend the march. I have signed the petition as has dh.

hereweareyes · 21/03/2019 16:35

Jacinda Ardern has shown true leadership in the past week. I find it really inspiring and/but it really underscores what the US and UK amongst others have been lacking for so long. She feels like someone I could look up to, even on issues on which we might disagree.

bellabasset · 21/03/2019 16:45

The petition is down again for maintenance, had reached nearly 1.1 million when I last looked.

UnspiritualHome · 21/03/2019 16:51

Interesting, isn't it, that it should need to be maintained at a point when numbers have been growing so fast?

Dumdedumdedum · 21/03/2019 17:17

The government site's continuously crashing as it's not used to such a large number of people trying to sign a petition at the same time, UnspiritualHome (anything to do with Kate Madikane?) - nothing nefarious about it.

Pa1oma · 21/03/2019 17:21

What is wrong with the woman? She must know the deal won’t go through next week - it’s already failed twice. When will reality hit her? She will ruin the nation with her intransigence, I used to feel sorry for her, but now I see her as a dangerous liability. Unbelievable!

naturalbornflapper · 21/03/2019 18:08

For anyone waiting for their conformation email for revoke artical 50 petition -

I've been waiting all day for conformation email. I emailed [email protected] about 10 minutes ago asking for my email to be manually confirmed due to no email being received. Within 5 minutes I received an email containing link allowing me to confirm my email address and petition signature. :)

Trekkingbeyond · 21/03/2019 18:10

I think another poster waited 12 hours for confirmation email and check spam.

anonymousbird · 21/03/2019 18:11

Here comes 1.2m, clearly some emails are getting through for people to confirm!

ForalltheSaints · 21/03/2019 18:35

It's like blaming customers for a faulty product.

Daisymay2 · 21/03/2019 18:39

I heard Andrea Ledson earlier. Sarky so and so. Well when the number reaches 17 million we might think about it......
I am a bit surprised that the number signing is so small in Scotland and N Ireland considering they voted remain.
Even my strongly pro Brexit constituency has about the same percentage of people supporting the petition as the Scottish constituencies I looked at.

DangermousesSidekick · 21/03/2019 18:55

Give it chance for news to get around, not everyone lives on the internet like we all do. Smile

llewellyn25 · 21/03/2019 19:01

Totally agree!!!

LizzieSiddal · 21/03/2019 19:16

DH waited for 3 hours for his confirmation email. He's just clicked don it and it says the site is downAngry

Livingtothefull · 21/03/2019 20:08

'I just think that it's 'an absolute fucking disgrace' that someone who's so angry about the Prime Minster can't even manage to spell her name correctly..... It's really not difficult.'

I can't be bothered to spell her name correctly. After her insultingly patronising 2-minute 'address to the nation' which she couldn't even be bothered to deliver at the scheduled time - I am not interested in doing her the courtesy of getting her name right.

In fact I think I will misspell it again just for fun: Teresa May.

You have an odd definition of 'disgrace' if this is what you get upset about. Here are just a very few of the things I find disgraceful:

My disabled DS depends on medications for his well being, I don't know if it will be available for him from next week and nobody can give me any reassurance. Certainly not 'Teresa' who claims to be on my side;

My DH is in a line of work in which he is having to deal directly with the Brexit panic. It is making him ill and there is no end in sight;

People on here and elsewhere are discussing difficulties in accessing difficulties accessing the petition to revoke article 50. Many think it may be deliberate to restrict access limit the amount of signatures. Why? Because there is so little trust left between the people and the government. And 'Teresa' thinks she can repair that with her pathetic 2 minute speech?
