AIBU?

To hate my cordless Dyson and want to throw it out?

I have never been that impressed with the bloody thing, and now I seem to spend more time trying to clean it out so that it picks something up ! And the more I see / hear James Dyson waffling on about Brexit the more resentful I am becoming of the useless piece of shit.

I only have hard floors no carpets so might just revert to brushing as I think it would be more effective .

I've got a Dyson V10 and I love it, still use the Dyson rollerball as well.

The dc59 canister is too small for pick up and has a narrow clog point on one side. My dog is a long haired shedder and couldn’t get round one floor without having to get a fork out to pull out wedged bits.

Have a Miele now and it is much better

Ten, it will be because some tiny annoying thing is somehow blocking something, and you need to work out where the blockage is in order to proceed. I told you, needy.Grin

Hetty is a good hoover although it does act like a naughty toddler when it grabs my clothes and won't let go, or refuses to go around corners without a fuss.

However a Dyson stick vacuum is ridiculously shit.

I have a shark cordless with 2 batteries and I love it

On my second shark. Have the corded liftaway. Have had dysons in the past and they are useless compared to my sharks.

I had the same experience with a useless, badly designed Dyson that was constantly clogged up. You really could not pay me enough now to persuade me to swap my Henry for a Dyson.

I love my V6 never had any trouble with it.

If it keeps stopping and starting you need to clean the filter in the top.

Never had a problem with my Dyson Fluffy - what on earth are you all doing to them?! No pets but three long-haired humans, had it for 3 years. My parents have the new V10 which I'm eyeing covetously but as there's nothing wrong with our current one I can't justify it.

I've always had to clean out vacuums so don't have a problem with it. When I was a teen it was my job to de-fluff the vacuum roller because I was the only person with long hair in the house. My parents still have the same one, it's a Sebo and about 30 years old, but getting too heavy for them now.

I've found the G Tech to be the best cordless vac and I've used many as a self employed cleaner. Good battery life, fast charging and picks up brilliantly.

Love my old corded ball Dyson but the lead is a little short to do the whole of downstairs in one go.

We have Henry & Hettie but their toddler temper tantrums are annoying - especially when they fall right over.

Ok, so if I go for the Shark cordless, do I really need the second battery? Mostly I want it for a daily (maybe Blush) whizz round.

There seem to be about 4 different but virtually identical ones?!

Vax blades are shit, totally shit.
Impossible to empty and cover you in dust when you try
the reviews (that I studied before buying) just can’t be real

My dyson fell apart. I have a Shark liftaway now... Fabulous! Smile

I lke my cordless Dyson, but DS2 bought a Lidl's own version for £50 which seems just as good and a heck of a lot cheaper.

Whatever I end up with needs the handheld option. Not just a cordless upright.

So hated my Dyson. VERY BAD! I've got a shark now and it's great, it is corded but I don't mind that. It's sucks up loads, copes well with the dog hair, and is really easy to empty.

Oh do you know what I also hate, the adverts where they show you just open the canister and the dust comes out perfectly ....
Actually, you open the canister and most of the dust is tightly packed in and you have to fish it out. This isn’t a particular Dyson fault because I can’t see how you’d get dust to just neatly fall out but it irritates me.

@Cookit It does come out easy on the shark.

suzy

I had the same problem and after going through the trouble shooting it turned out all the filters we clogged up. I admit I hadn’t washed them for a long long time Blush I washed the removable filter and brushed the big filter clean which is attached inside the plastic container. Works now 👍

@longtimelurkerhelen another reason to get one then Grin

I know this thread is lighthearted but I am actually really annoyed at how crap the Dyson is, I loved my rollerball Dyson. I could have got a better product for less money.
It’s really not unreasonable to think you shouldn’t need to put up with the stop-start-stop-start and constant unclogging.

I've had 2 upright Dyson's and they worked well. Never had a problem with them.
I now have a V10 Animal and it's great.

I bought spare filters for all of them. None of them were cheap but they were well worth it in the long run. Once the filter was changed, they were like new again.

I do highly recommend the the V10 though. So powerful and light and I am amazed how much dirt it picks up.

I’m thinking of getting a new Dyson very soon. So far on this thread the V10 has had a universal thumbs-up. Has anyone had a bad experience of the V-10?

I have found my people!

WHY are they able to sell this utter pile of shit? Are they still riding on the coat tails of the ORIGINAL Dyson, which was actually a decent thing (DMum still used the one I bought her 20 years ago). DH bought this one because he thought it would be a decent thing

I cannot tell you how much I hate it, but it has made me wary of getting another stick one (plus, cost £££££££)

Downstairs I have a lovely, reliable ‘eats everything’ Henry.
Sometimes I go and get him and LUG him upstairs to do the actual cleaning after the DickDyson fails to do it
