To hate my cordless Dyson and want to throw it out?

I have never been that impressed with the bloody thing, and now I seem to spend more time trying to clean it out so that it picks something up ! And the more I see / hear James Dyson waffling on about Brexit the more resentful I am becoming of the useless piece of shit.

I only have hard floors no carpets so might just revert to brushing as I think it would be more effective .

I have a V8 and I really like it. I use it in short bursts on the strongest power it has. As I am never doing more than 5 minutes or so hoovering at a time, it is fine. I find that it picks up everything, I am always shocked at how much dust there is in the canister.

HarrySnotter · 20/03/2019 16:02

I've had a few Dysons (DH always insisted on buying them as they're 'the best') and I think they're shite. I bought a Shark abut 6 months ago - not the cordless one - the animal hair one and its the best hoover I've ever had.

I just bought a wee hoover cordless number, predominantly to use the hand-held bit (as the dyson hand held one was also shite) and it's brilliant. Our hallway is always covered in mud from the dogs so I can just whip this out of the utility and it's done in 2 mins. Fab.

SummersB · 20/03/2019 16:03

Oh god I so nearly ordered a Cordless Dyson last night! Only at the very last minute I let DH persuade me to spend a bit more and get a Shark! DH knows nothing about hoovers and his only reason was that he liked the fact that the Shark has headlights! I’m praying it will be worth it, I’ve never spent that much on a hoover...

HarrySnotter · 20/03/2019 16:04

It will be @SummersB. And the headlights are awesome ... Grin

NicoAndTheNiners · 20/03/2019 16:04

Headlights you say?

Loseitandkeepitlost · 20/03/2019 16:05

My cordless Dyson was rubbish. Got a Shark and it is so much better. Would never buy a Dyson again.

longtimelurkerhelen · 20/03/2019 16:05

Shark Lift away are the best, my not very old Dyson would just not pick up stuff from carpet, used to take me half an hour to do the living room. Bought a shark and it's a quick 5 min job now and the carpet actually looks clean. I don't get broken nails anymore trying to get it open to empty it, the button on the Dyson was so stiff.

In their effort to make the hoovers lighter than a feather, they just don't work.

Fuck James Dyson and his Brexit bollocks, your hoovers are shit.

jay55 · 20/03/2019 16:08

Love my v10 animal, I have no pets but long hair myself and it's great. Yes I have to pick out some hair from the cylinder but on a regular hoover I have to cut hair out the brushes etc, it's much easier.

NicoAndTheNiners · 20/03/2019 16:08

What's the difference between the pro and the power floor?

DGRossetti · 20/03/2019 16:09

Do you have a local Wetherspoons that needs vaccing ?

Rafflesway · 20/03/2019 16:09

I bought a Gtech pro this time last year. Loved it but the battery was so unreliable. Had 3 new batteries in 6 weeks and still the same. Gtech finally agreed to take it back with a full refund.

Bought a Shark cordless liftaway last October. 6 months later and I still love it.

Redshoes2 · 20/03/2019 16:09

I rarely post on here but am moved to say I love my cordless Dyson (v8) - had a Henry before and it has transformed the way I feel about vacuuming 🤷🏻‍♀️So easy and light. Oh and 5 adults with long hair in my household and 3 dogs...

SummersB · 20/03/2019 16:10

Excellent HarrySnotter ! Yes DH was very impressed with the headlights Grin Thanks all for the reassurance, it’s arriving next week. I currently have a very old, corded dyson which is so shit I can’t wait to get rid of!! I hate it so much I think I might have to light a bonfire and watch the fucker burn next week

Lovemusic33 · 20/03/2019 16:11

Sold mine and bought hetty, I would rather lug her around than use the shitty dyson.

longtimelurkerhelen · 20/03/2019 16:11

@SummersB You won't regret it. So much easier than a dyson. The headlights are good to see all the fluff etc on hard floors.

NicoAndTheNiners · 20/03/2019 16:12

I'm confused, which Shark one do people have?

Is it gtech who make shark? Because I can't find any shark vacuums on their website?

@NicoAndTheNiners Shark is the brand name. I have the Shark Lift Away NV601UK Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner.

SuziQ10 · 20/03/2019 16:16

My cordless Dyson is a piece of s**t. Wish I'd never bought it. Will replace as soon as I can!!

SuziQ10 · 20/03/2019 16:18

Sorry QUESTION:
Why does my cordless Dyson keep stopping and starting, even though I'm pressing it to go. What does this mean / what do I have to do? It's all the time.

DuvetOver · 20/03/2019 16:18

We have a corded Dyson, an uncorded one, a corded shark and a henry. Nine times out of ten I use the Henry & we only got it so the builder's dust didn't kill the dysons.

AlexaAmbidextra · 20/03/2019 16:19

I had one and hated it. I had to take a plastic bag and a chop stick around the house with me as the stupidly small canister filled up so quickly and you have to dig the fluff and dirt out of it. And it didn’t pick up particularly well either. Dyson’s marketing strategy far exceeds it’s products imo.

DuvetOver · 20/03/2019 16:19

Can someone please link to the cordless Gtech everyone is raving about? Smile

Haffiana · 20/03/2019 16:20

Had a V6 which was OK. Now have a V10 and it is very, very good although heavier. I bought it when they first came out and have had zero issues with it.

Maybe the Dyson haters have an old one?

Cookit · 20/03/2019 16:20

I’m going to get a Shark to replace I think.
