AIBU?

To hate my cordless Dyson and want to throw it out?

I have never been that impressed with the bloody thing, and now I seem to spend more time trying to clean it out so that it picks something up ! And the more I see / hear James Dyson waffling on about Brexit the more resentful I am becoming of the useless piece of shit.

I only have hard floors no carpets so might just revert to brushing as I think it would be more effective .

GTech for me as well. My granddaughter is moving house soon and she wants one.

Ive got an animal v6 and it keeps getting clogged with hair. I can take it apart and cut all the hair off the rotating bristles and then it normally works again. It's dd's long hair, not the dogs! But currently even though I've snipped all the hair I can see it won't work. The bristles won't rotate and then it cuts out.

Does this happen with the v10? Or have they improved this fault.

Yanbu. My v6 is utter crap. Pings crumbs and bits round the room on hard floors. Suction on anything but the brush attachment is shocking. It's now currently out of use as the brush bar keeps sticking making the motor cut out Angry

Maybe I will get a gtech.

We have a corded DC01 de Stijl that is 20 years old and still going strong. Doesn't get used much though

I've got a V8 and love it! No problems with pet hair or anything, so easy to use and empty. Had a GTech before this and hated it.

Now contemplating a gtech as well...

Love mine. Comes with all the hair from two constantly moulting hairy labradors. Wasn’t overly impressed with our first one but DH broke it and replaced with a newer model and that was great. That one has just been replaced after five or six years of heavy use. Daily pretty much.

@keepingbees snap. That's what mine does. Wasn't cheap and about 18 months old. Am fed up.

Did have to upgrade when it transpired the the V6 animal couldn't cope with long haired cats. Bit no problems with the new one.

Another one who hates the cordless dyson. Have the corded one about 11 years old (DC11 I think) and still going strong. I love it!

Have a cordless V6 2.5 years old, hate hate hate it.

It is good for odd jobs here and there and hard floors but cant rely on it for a full clean. It wont pick everything up from the carpets and it wont last the duration. Hair get stuck in the motorised brush making it useless, cannot empty it without using something to get the packed dirt out (hit and trial led me to takeaway chopsticks, now we have one dedicated for emptying the dyson cordless).

In short, I feel your pain OP!

The handle design of the design is so uncomfortable, has rubbed a lump at the top of my thumb! The charge only lasts long enough to do upstairs and I don't live in a mansion!

@NicoAndTheNiners this is exactly what mine does except it's my hair Blush

@NicoAndTheNiners just saw we had cross posted! Ours is about 18 months old too, not happy. We don't even have any pets either, it just can't cope with hair. Like you we've cleaned it all out and had the brush bar off but it seems to have given up Sad

Argh! was set on a V8 Absolute, now not sure. Have 2 cats who shed and a toddler who likes to leave crumbs. Do have a Miele cat and dog but want a cordless for quick run rounds.
Have a Morphy Richards and it's useless, spits bits out!

Those with Dysons that have issues within a couple of years - call up and they will replace parts like motor, battery, entire head etc for free!

I have a V8 and I have no issue with how it cleans. However, it is on it's 3rd battery in 2.5yrs, despite customer service insisting that a battery should last 5 years.
On a new battery I can do the whole downstairs of my house and the stairs. Currently 10 months into a replacement battery and it's dropped to doing half the downstairs before dying.

I had this and then I realised I was using the hard floor attachment on carpet and visa versa. Have you doubled checked this?

I also hate my VAX blade - it's bloody useless - spits bits out all over the flipping place and takes forever to clean and even then it's never really clean ... really want one of those Gtech ones but too expensive - was better off with Henry but it's hard to lug up and down the stairs.

Had an old Dyson cordless years ago that was crap, then had the Vax, also useless! After reading all the rave reviews I both the Dyson V10 and it is bloody brilliant. I highly recommend it.

I bought one and I hated it so much. Hard to empty and most of it goes back onto the floor, also the roller gets clogged. I also found it just sort of moves the crumbs around rather than sucking them up.

I have a V10 as well. Its great as long as you unclog the pet hair now and again! Which I dont think you should have to do - its a fuckin' vacuum cleaner! So its not infallible. And yes, it was terribly expensive.
