To think if a child accidently pours Ribena over Coco Pops instead of milk, you don't make them eat it?

Me, aged 8. That memory is causing a disproportionate amount of distress. It was a lot of Ribena and I felt so sick 🙁 Or maybe I'm being a wuss and it was a proportionate punishment?

limitedperiodonly completely agree. OP okay I had a very abusive childhood. Physically and emotionally. It took me years to face it. I had therapy and it helped a lot..You keep remembering because like me, you may have PTSD, where you relive the event over and over. If you have not done so you need help. See your Gp and asked to be referred to a psychologist, not the counsellor Gps often have counsellor in house. But I suspect you may know this. Good luck to you xxxxxFlowersFlowersFlowersl

Extreme but not worth being upset about it now is it? I’ve been strict as a nanny when. I thought ok actually I was a bit unfair and I thought I wouldn’t react that way again.

If you'd done that to my child ChocChocButtons I'd sack you on the spot and make it my business to try to make sure you didn't get the chance to do it to again.

You would not get a reference from me and if someone contacted me for my honest opinion I would tell them what you did and let them make up their mind about whether to trust you with their child.

I realise that you would not give me as a reference. Those are the constraints of employment and libel law. That's the scary part.

I’d love to hear a description of your “strictness” chocchoc, if you think what the OP describes is not worth being upset about. Do tell...
