AIBU to think that any coverage of her disappearance is a good thing. I watched two episodes of the Netflix programme and think that if it were to bring her back into the spotlight, then surely it’s worthwhile? I’m on my own in that opinion here in our house.

key sightings weren't followed up until the Met took over

This is incorrect. Is the documentary biased? Confused

@beebreath is it? I've only watched some of the first episode. That story always stuck in my head. I felt so sorry for the mother.

miranda1511 · 17/03/2019 21:55

I don't think I would say the documentary was biased. My initial thought was that if this just turns into another hatchet job on the McCanns I'm not watching. I thought it was balanced and factual.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 17/03/2019 21:59

The other little girl was called Joana Cipriano if you want to look her up.

Desperateforspring · 17/03/2019 22:01

Thanks kummer, I wasn't stating categorically before I was genuinely asking.

I'm glad they were all questions but how come no one at beaches crèche noticed dodgy guy!!

beebreath · 17/03/2019 22:09

@MissEliza episode 6

StoneofDestiny · 17/03/2019 22:09

The amount of resource allocated to this one case is absolutely bonkers. Well over £14 million has been spent without a single credible lead. What about all the other thousands of missing people, including other children?

The investigations being undertaken and the leads being followed will benefit everyone in the long run. The police will have a greater understanding of paedophile networks and human trafficking chains. The police wouldn't be asking to continue it if they didn't see the benefit.
Better the money goes into this than pissed down a drain on the royal family or £33 million paid to Eurotunnel over Brexit Ferry case or the £1 billion pounds paid in deals to the DUP to keep the Tory Party in power.
The spending on the MM investigation is a drop in the ocean and may show dividends for MM and other missing children cases.

Desperateforspring · 17/03/2019 22:11

I agree stone.

MissEliza · 17/03/2019 22:13

@beebreath thanks. I didn't realise there were six episodes!

youarenotkiddingme · 17/03/2019 22:15

There's 8 Eliza
But yes that case covered in some depth.

RunAndBeeHappy · 17/03/2019 22:21

the final episode shows kate on her computer going through the police files......she stumbles upon the tapas bar register showing the block restaurant booking for 8.30 pm for every evening of their stay

next to the booking it states the reason for the block booking. the reason?

leaving children alone in rooms so need to dine early.....written there for all staff to see

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 17/03/2019 22:26

That’s rather worrying Run isn’t it?

ballsdeep · 17/03/2019 22:32

Episode 6 is horrendous to watch. So so hard to watch. Those poor children

ballsdeep · 17/03/2019 22:32

Sorry episode 8

Desperateforspring · 17/03/2019 22:39

Written for all to see by company that said... telling customers of sex attacks wasn't their business! Allegedly according too Netflix program...

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/03/2019 22:41

it was never really clear what 'cadaver' the dog would pick up - only human? Animal? Would tie in with a car running over road kill?

I thought the cadaver dog was said to have signalled at the wardrobe?

If so, it would seem a heck of an odd place to find roadkill ...

RedHelenB · 17/03/2019 22:41

I do recall at the time a lot of scepticism about these pi they hired. And people being shot down in flames for questioning it. Seems they were right, money down the drain. And the only remit they had was to follow the abduction lead, no other lines of inquiry.

Barbie222 · 17/03/2019 22:42

Cadaver dogs only alert to human tissue and blood, not animal. They wouldn't be worth the amount spent on them otherwise.

RunAndBeeHappy · 17/03/2019 22:42

episode 8 is chilling

the predator getting into bed with the young girl having broken in!! wearing a mask and talking to her pretending to be her dad....horrific

Barbie222 · 17/03/2019 22:43

The passages about Clement Freud in Kate's book must seem very creepy to her now.

Whilst I wouldn't do that I absolutely have friends who leave their kids in checking distance of their children if asleep in bed. I am also 'that' parent who has left my precious child in bed upstairs whilst I and my friends had a few drinks and barbecue in the garden.

I''m absolutely disgusted at the armchair detectives who have vilified the parents because they were middle class and didn't react with weeping and wailing. Just look at Prince harry and William and the stiff upper lip they kept - it's no surprise that some middle class people show their emotions.

There is no suggestion whatsoever that Gerry or Kate killed their child fgs - and for him to not be 'likeable' or not reacting as you would?

Disgusting

Lizmum1 · 17/03/2019 22:44

After the episodes of the man claiming to be raising money for a orphanage and showing interest in the little girl and the footage of the men walking around the beds and climbing in literally gave me chills I checked on my kids numerous times last night and locked everything and double checked. Had to take the dog outside with me for a smoke. Felt so uneasy and spooked. Such a eye opener and very very disturbing

ghostyslovesheets · 17/03/2019 22:45

puzzled I was obviously referring to the car when talking about road kill Hmm

Maybe a rat died in the wardrobe - but you are missing the point - a dog barking is not identifying the body of MM - just a smell which could be related to anything dead

RunAndBeeHappy · 17/03/2019 22:48

nana i don't for one minute believe kate or gerry to be involved. but the restaurant were bloody negligent writing that in the book! that information could be sold on or used......in fact thats probably my conclusion from watching the whole 8 episodes
