Netflix Madeleine McCann

AIBU to think that any coverage of her disappearance is a good thing. I watched two episodes of the Netflix programme and think that if it were to bring her back into the spotlight, then surely it’s worthwhile? I’m on my own in that opinion here in our house.

Cole I don't buy her wandering off. She couldn't have got far and would have been found and vaguely knew her way around

Look at Micheal Jackson, Jimmy savile, abducter in plain site ..

Most 3 year olds are feisty.

nokidshere · 16/03/2019 22:38

I think the question about taking the younger dcs into care isn't related to the McCann's guilt but the negligence in leaving the children unsupervised

People live in a bubble. In their own little worlds of niceness. Anyone who doesn't know that there are thousands of children left alone for minutes or hours every day surely has no understanding of how other people live. Children are not taken into care because they have been left alone for a couple of hours, or because their parents have taken the monitor to a neighbours to have a drink. Christ, the care system can barely cope with children who are emotionally, physically and sexually abused let alone a family who share a toothbrush. (And really? You have so little imagination that you can never think of any family that might share a toothbrush?)

They were not the only parents who left their children on that night in that holiday resort. And probably other resorts in other places. They were just the ones that it went disastrously wrong for.

I'm not sure, but I think whatever happened, started with her waking up and finding her parents gone.

MadMillie do you think the McCanns deserve to be treated the way they have then, because they left their children while they sat with friends having their dinner?

Do you honestly think they deserve the pain of not knowing what happened to her? 12 year without her?

HerRoyalFattyness · 16/03/2019 22:44

Its not that. Its that these people were medical professionals, so knew the importance of oral hygeine and certainly not short of cash for toothbrushes. There was absolutely no need for the children to share a toothbrush and anyone not in poverty would agree that its strange.
They were/are earning much more money than me, yet my 3 kids all have their own toothbrushes.

Sparklingbrook · 16/03/2019 22:45

and yet, all the things silverysurfer said are true...

Fortunately all the things have been deleted.

fudgesmummy · 16/03/2019 22:47

My cousin went missing in 1980 when he was 19 years old. His body was never found and my aunt and uncle never stopped looking for him. Sadly they both went to their graves not knowing what happened to him 😕

ColeHawlins · 16/03/2019 22:49

That's awful @fudgesmummy Flowers

Marcipex · 16/03/2019 22:50

@fudgesmummy. I'm really sorry that happened to your family.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/03/2019 22:51

What are people insinuating about the one toothbrush? That they got rid of Madeleine’s because of DNA? Where’s the other twins toothbrush then?

HerRoyalFattyness · 16/03/2019 22:51

fudgesmummy Flowers

nokidshere · 16/03/2019 22:52

They left 3 children under the age of 5 in an apartment to go out. The twins were 2 years of age and Madeline was 4. So yes, I do blame them for their careless parenting. Frankly, I would never have left my children alone in a hotel room or in an apartment to go out to eat and drink. Can you imagine if someone posted on here to ask if it was ok to to leave their children alone while they went to a neighbours house to eat and drink? They'd be crucified and the thread would be left to run without being deleted. So no, blaming the parents for neglect isn't victim blaming.

You might not have but plenty of people did (before and after this case) as shown by the replies on the other thread.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/03/2019 22:52

That’s really sad fudgesmummy.

Marcipex · 16/03/2019 22:54

But why would they want to remove her dna? I must be thick.

ballsdeep · 16/03/2019 22:56

I've just watched episode three and I'm finding it incredibly hard to watch, especially with the little boy 😢😢😢 absolutely horrendous people in this world

TrixieFranklin · 16/03/2019 22:56

The toothbrush thing isn't that odd. Maybe they forgot to pack the twins toothbrushes so only had the 1 with them. I went away with DH last week and forgot mine so used his whilst we were away for a few nights.

Imissgmichael · 16/03/2019 22:58

Nokidshere, really people you know leave their children in an unlocked hotel room and go out for a meal and a drink? Some people shouldn’t have children. Poor neglected kids.

flitwit99 · 16/03/2019 22:59

Imagine what it would be like if we woke up tomorrow to news that she had been found. She has been missing almost all my adult life and I have been aware of her missing almost all my adult life.
I wish her parents could know what has happened to her. I wish the families of all missing people could know what has happened to the people they love.

Imissgmichael · 16/03/2019 23:01

Nope Nokid no little bubble here. Never left my babies on their own, ever.

I don't know anyone who would leave their children. What I said was that on the other thread it is quite clear by the responses that people did, (and have since,) leave their children.

MadMillie · 16/03/2019 23:02

Please refer me to the post when I said this? I think you;ll find not once have I said anything about them deserving pain. Please get your facts right.

nokidshere · 16/03/2019 23:03

Nope Nokid no little bubble here. Never left my babies on their own, ever

Nor have I but I'm not stupid enough to think that other people did, or do, leave theirs.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/03/2019 23:04

I don't have Netflix, but has the testimony around the Smith family's sightings been covered yet?

It's quite interesting ...
