Transvaginal ultrasound AIBU to be close to tears?

I have an infection in my vagina, a stinging in there, and when I sit down, I feel like a painful football is bouncing around my insides - not my vagina, my uterus area, inside my tummy.
I also have an issue internally (bleeding and pelvic pain) which is why I'm being referred for US.
AIBU to be doing the female equivalent of my balls shrinking into my scrotum at the thoughts of anything going up my vagina?
Is there any way I can make a probe up my vagina tomorrow possible? I want to find out what's going on clearly, but the thoughts of the pain is upsetting me. Plus I'm not sure whether they'll manage to get anything up there.
Any advice?

Glad you were ok OP . Was it as bad as you thought or is it one of those really stress yourself out and then it's not as bad as you thought? How would you compare to a smear? Really pleased for you that you got through it ☺️👍 x

I had irregular bleeding, TV scan showed thickening if the uterine lining which was a polyp - had it whipped out a few weeks later.

Poppiesway1 · 15/03/2019 17:10

TwoRoundabouts you need a full bladder for a scan over pelvis/abdomen and an empty bladder for an internal scan

BigButtons · 15/03/2019 17:17

I've sadly had loads of VEs this last week including a TV ultrasound due to vanished coil threads and bleeding. The Tv ultrasound is fine- doesn't hurt. The removal of the coil, however, was another matter Sad

I had one a few years ago,and I admit that I was dreading it. But it was fine. Was less uncomfortable than a smear, took barely 5 minutes, and the best thing was that you need an EMPTY bladder for it,rather than a full one, like you do for a lot of external ultrasound scans.

SosigisAndCornflourSauce · 15/03/2019 17:35

Even I'm getting stressed at the lack of fucking thread reading. OP has had the scan now but for the sake of my sanity!

OP HAS HAD MANY TV SCANS BEFORE

OP HAS A REALLY, REALLY SORE FANNY!!

OP's REALLY, REALLY SORE FANNY IS THE REASON SHE IS SCARED OF THE SCAN

For the love of all things holy please stop telling the OP that 'TV scans don't hurt' unless you too have had a really, really sore fanny when you had it!!

AnyWalls · 15/03/2019 17:52

PMSL @SosigisAndCornflourSauce Thank you!
I was wavering between shaking my head, wanting to repeat for the 10th time that I've had this type of scan before and that I've never found this type of scan nor smears painful but I sort of was hoping the thread would just go the fuck away because people appear to read nothing and it would have been pointless. I sort of do a face to palm motion as every new post comes in telling me that it's nothing. Blue in the face I'd be.

Well now you have had it I can tell you I had one with a sore fanny it's not nice bloody uncomfortable I clenched and they made me cough to relax the muscles unfortunately my bladder was a bit weak and I thought I was going to piss myself too which really didn't help matters

Aardvarkitsabloodyaardvark · 15/03/2019 17:59

So glad you are ok Op.

Bit late to the thread, I had a nasty ,undiagnosed, cervical / vaginal infection years ago.

Sex was soooo painful, the only way I could (just)/bare it was to use a suppository before sex ( mood killer if ever there was one) , the sort for ladies (usually of a mature nature) who get very dry in the vagina.

Not sure what it did , made it slippy (tmi) when my body wasn't but it did help a bit ??

Any hoo, might not even be ok to use before a scan. Smear test, but might help if you find yourself in a similarly position again.

PS my now ex dh, apparenly, didn't "notice" when I tensed and balled my hands into fists every time he entered me, he just carried on regardless, part of the reason he's an ex.

What would be really good if new, updated posts from OP's would be pinned to the top after the first one... and a like button put in for the rest of us so it doesn't go to 8, 16 whatever pages long of the same reply...

Hope you have a good weekend OP.

@BigButtons I feel for you. Same happened to me, was so painful and traumatic having it removed
