....how are you going to vote, would you even bother?

OP posts:
Slazengerbag · 13/03/2019 13:22

My area is very Tory. No one from another party has ever won.

I’ve always voted labour but the thought of Corbyn as PM makes me shudder.

downcasteyes · 13/03/2019 13:23

I will vote Labour this time. Would normally vote Green. I think Corbyn's leadership could have been better, but I liked their manifesto at the last election a lot and I think we would get a vastly better Brexit under a Labour government.

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/03/2019 13:24

I’d vote Green or Lib Dem. My MP is the Brexit loon Kate Hoey.

ginghambox · 13/03/2019 13:24

I can’t believe anyone would vote Tory! They are killing people with their austerity policies, they are attacking the vulnerable in society, they are dismantling all our social safety nets. They are only focused on increasing wealth for the very wealthy. They are a horrible bunch of cretins.

That didn't take long.

nancy75 · 13/03/2019 13:25

It’s a sorry state of affairs when so many of us don’t want to waste our vote but have nobody to give it to. I suppose I’d go either green or Lib Dem just because they are the least worst choices, it’s hardly a ringing endorsement

Bibijayne · 13/03/2019 13:25

Lib Dems or TIG

blackteasplease · 13/03/2019 13:25

Not keen on Corbyn, but my local Labour MP is good so may vote for her.

GinUnicorn · 13/03/2019 13:27

Labour or Lib Dem.

I’d love Labour with Keir Starmer.

andadietcoke · 13/03/2019 13:27

I'm really struggling with this. I was a Labour Party member, worked in the European Parliament in Brussels for an EPLP MEP and was asked to stand as a councillor in an unwinnable seat. I voted Lib Dem in the last election using the 'swap my vote' system. A bloke in Sheffield voted labour for me. This time though, no clue. I don't know how we get out of this mess. I don't know which is the best party to try and do that. So I guess if it happens I'll go through all the manifestos and vote for whoever's election 'promises' feel like they'll make the most difference to me and mine.

ajandjjmum · 13/03/2019 13:28

I think we would get a vastly better Brexit under a Labour government.

What makes you think that? Do you think the EU would have offered more to Labour?

brieislife · 13/03/2019 13:28

Labour.

MadisonAvenue · 13/03/2019 13:31

Conservative, not that I have much confidence in them currently but there's no way I could vote Labour with Corbyn in charge, not that I've ever voted for them anyway.

SophiaLarsen · 13/03/2019 13:32

Not sure to be honest. In accordance with manifestos I often come out as being sympathetic to Tory but then you see them in practise and their inability to stick to manifestos and also how poorly they treat people that I don't think I would vote for them.

I voted Labour last time after a lot of umming and ahhing and did it on the basis of the local candidate and tried to ignore the fact that Corbyn was in charge. Both him and May are as bad as each other with doggedly carrying on despite resignations and protests. The local candidate did not win but did achieve a convincing vote increase on the 2015 election.

Liberals always put something crazy in their manifesto that I am very opposed to despite me having a liberal mindset.

Labour in power does do my head in. I found them too interfering on day to day life...although I did benefit from their maternity policies which I acknowledge.

VeryLittleOwl · 13/03/2019 13:32

My constituency is a two-horse race between Lib Dems and SNP, so I vote Lib Dem because when we briefly did get an SNP MP from 2015 - 20017 he was an absolute unmitigated disaster. I would naturally be a Conservative voter, but our Lib Dem MP (and his pre-2015 predecessor) have both done an excellent job for our area, so I'm happy to continue supporting them.

slashlover · 13/03/2019 13:32

SNP. If/when Brexit happens then I want an IndyRef2 if there's any way we could get back into Europe.

Seniorschoolmum · 13/03/2019 13:35

Conservative unless the Labour top team changes beyond recognition.

Would you honestly let Corbyn near foreign policy or Thornberry near anything at all that requires diplomacy?

We need a third way.

TonightJosephine · 13/03/2019 13:36

I would vote for the most anti-Brexit candidate, whoever that is.

SisterFarAway · 13/03/2019 13:38

In my area I would definitely vote LibDem. The last GE was incredibly close here and my current Tory MP is a Brexiteer who will vote for No Deal.
Having become a British Citizen recently I am now even allowed to vote.

QuestionableMouse · 13/03/2019 13:39

Time for new blood. None of the big parties are doing the job properly.

I'll probably vote lib dem through sheer lack of choice. Would never vote Tory.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 13/03/2019 13:41

Would vote Lib Dem as I did last time though I think they have been utterly useless

Tories would win I have no doubt about that

Then hopefully can rid Labour of momentum and their puppets

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 13/03/2019 13:42

given that not a single major party seems to know or care what a woman is, I genuinely don't know. Never Tory, Labour no more, not Greens or Lib Dems. Our Labour MP has a stonking majority anyway.

FlippinNora1 · 13/03/2019 13:43

It feels like the UK has developed Stockholm syndrome with their continued allegiance to the Tory party.

Either that or the country (and seemingly mumsnet) is jammed packed full of the wealthy and the privileged who always gain from them being in power.

I agree with a pp who said don’t vote for an individual (ie Corbyn) vote for the party. I’d vote Labour. Anything to get those monsters out of our government.

HermioneWeasley · 13/03/2019 13:45

Whoever would keep Labour and Corbyn out

SophiaLarsen · 13/03/2019 13:45

Not sure I agree totally FlippinNora. The hung parliament last time was not indicative of continued allegiance. Unfortunately people are put off by Corbyn.

Penguincake · 13/03/2019 13:46

Conservative but only because Labour is so shit. Wish there was a decent alternative.
