....how are you going to vote, would you even bother?

OP posts:

Tory

Waspnest · 14/03/2019 08:55

I genuinely don’t understand people who say they’d vote conservative, labour or any party every single time. It sounds like they’d vote for anything with a blue or red rosette regardless of the policies, manifesto etc.

Political parties aren’t like football teams who you follow through the good and bad times. Decisions on who to vote for should be made on an election by election basis based on the policies at the time.

People who just blindly vote in a tribal fashion are a big problem and are the reason why some areas have so many issues. If parties thought they had to put up a fight in some towns they’d try harder to improve them. Instead they can take many areas for granted safe in the knowledge that the people will always vote blue or red.

I’d be embarrassed to state that I never change my mind

I would figure out what would be the most tactical way to vote in order to avoid another tory government.
Unfortunately, my area is very divided Labour/Tory, and we got saddled with an absolute plonker of a Tory MP last time, who even the hardline Tory voters aren’t happy with.
It would appear the Greens are gathering some serious weight in my area too lately

show me a political party who hasn't thrown women under the bus and I'll vote for them.

Anyone?

show me a political party who hasn't thrown women under the bus and I'll vote for them

The SNPs policies in the main haven't, bar the self ID policy which thankfully didn't get through. But generally, they're the least likely to throw women under the bus.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 14/03/2019 10:01

Gotten I'm pretty sure WEP aren't entirely sure who they're fighting for equality for anymore.

GottenGottenGotten · 14/03/2019 10:06

@WeepingWillow are you suggesting they have thrown women under the bus? If so, how? As that was the only thing I was making a comment on.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 14/03/2019 10:13

They don't seem to understand that a woman is an adult human female. They are fighting for equality for a section of society with no apparent definition.

Reallyevilmuffin · 14/03/2019 10:21

Difficult. Really dislike the way that Brexit has been mismanagemed by may, and I am a conservative party member. If farages new Brexit party stood here I would probably protest vote them, we will end up being labour regardless here.

GottenGottenGotten · 14/03/2019 10:24

Are you making a comment on transgenderism?

I'm not interested in getting into that debate on here. The most vocal people on both sides are utterly divided and not willing to listen to each other. And that's the biggest issue imo.

So please feel free to make your point without involving me. Imo the wep are working for equality. Equality is for everyone, regardless of genitalia.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 14/03/2019 10:28

err - they're meant to be working for women's equality. If 'women' has no definition then it's meaningless. 'Equality for everyone' is also pretty meaningless.

and I'm answering a question you asked me.

Mookatron · 14/03/2019 10:30

Whichever party would make Brexit go away. Lifelong Labour voter here.

GottenGottenGotten · 14/03/2019 10:37

Yes, you are answering a question I asked, which was based on clarifying a comment you tagged me in.

And now you have clarified, I've let you know it's not a discussion I want to be involved in.

You might think that equality is for everyone is meaningless, but having seen some people argue for effectively women's superiority, I don't.

But you are as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine, and I'm perfectly OK with that.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 14/03/2019 10:41

I didn't tag you (ie @ you) and you keep answering me. If you don't want a discussion, why do that?

The OP is about who to vote for. Plenty of women are politically homeless as no party, including WEP, think that a woman is an adult human female (even though that is exactly what a woman is - I'm 3 years and counting waiting for an alternative workable definition of woman) and seems to care or understand why that matters.

GottenGottenGotten · 14/03/2019 10:47

Okay, apologies. You didn't tag me, you named me and the post was aimed at me

I have answered you when there has been something I feel I should answer. As you are now repeating yourself on a topic I have already stated I am not willing to be involved in, I suspect this is where it ends.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 14/03/2019 10:53

Great. You can stop replying to me then, can't you!

SciFiScream · 14/03/2019 11:11

For the first time in my life I'd consider voting SNP and purely because the potential in some of the MSPs to stand up for sex versus gender.

Next is consider voting communist as they are fine with the sex versus gender debate.

I hope for some independent candidates to choose from.
