I can feel the mood among Remainers, both IRL and online changing.

I try to avoid talking about it as it pisses me off so much. Sick of seeing self serving twattish politicians on the news spouting bullshit about this is not the deal we want but offering bugger all as an alternative.
Childish tantrums and inter party politics appear to be more important to them than actually doing the job they are paid for.
The industry my dh works in has been directly affected by Brexit, already seeing less money and businesses moving. This isn't a fairy story this is reality. All while leavers keep telling us it's just fear mongering. This is meant to be the busiest time of year for my dh, but this year it isn't. People hate uncertainty, the economy is already suffering. So yes I am angry.

From what I hear on the radio and tv most people seem to be quite happy for no deal. In fact they’re pretty defiant about it. It’s almost a badge of honour to prove how tough they are. Obviously talk shows etc are self selecting so it could be you just get the most rabid leavers phoning up. What makes me cross is the fact that the media are so mealy mouthed about tackling statements that are factually incorrect and since been debunked. Stephen Baker (arch Brexiter) was pontificating about article 24 yesterday which I believe doesn’t actually apply to our situation but wasn’t corrected at all.

TonightJosephine · 14/03/2019 09:55

They have become more radicalised over the last 2 years and have gone from favouring Norway+ to crash out No Deal.

Radicalised is definitely the word for this.

Tonsilss · 14/03/2019 09:59

If the older generation want the rest of us to "toughen up" in a warlike situation they need look no further than Global Warming. You know, the ongoing destruction of the planet. No need to fabricate a crisis.

surferjet · 14/03/2019 10:01

KennDodd

It doesn’t matter how I voted, this is about you ( & other remainers ) getting really angry on social media.
Then get off it!
I’m not getting angry over brexit - you are!

Tonsilss · 14/03/2019 10:02

I'm always struck by how 1) uneducated and 2) nasty Leavers sound, including on Mumsnet. And including rich ones like Surferjet. Must make radicalisation a lot easier.

rainingonmyfireworks · 14/03/2019 10:05

there are a lot of nasty and uneducated posters on both sides of this debate, equally dismissive and bitchiness comments from both sides, so neither camp comes out covered in glory on that front.

Tonsilss · 14/03/2019 10:08

I disagree. A lot of compassion and good sense from remainers. A lot of vitriol, racism and crowing from leavers.

PBo83 · 14/03/2019 10:25

To be fair, the vast majority of the vitriol comes from the remain side if you look through this thread.

PBo83 · 14/03/2019 10:26

A lot of compassion and good sense from remainers

What? Calling all leavers morons, telling their old friends to 'fuck off' because of the way they voted...seems compassionate.

surferjet · 14/03/2019 10:29

I know - you couldn’t make it up.

‘Remainers are compassionate’
from the poster who 5 minutes earlier said leavers sound like uneducated racists who are open to radicalisation. 😂😂😂😂

bellinisurge · 14/03/2019 10:58

If you are still wasting time on "you're shit/no, you are", then what do you expect to happen next. Support WA if you want to do something constructive. Don't waste time on anything else

Tonsilss · 14/03/2019 11:00

Leavers do sound uneducated. The writing style is very different. This is a, you know, fact.

ContinuityError · 14/03/2019 11:07

To be fair, the vast majority of the vitriol comes from the remain side if you look through this thread.

Hardly a surprise considering the thread title. Do Leavers really expect Remainers to be happy little bunnies?

bellinisurge · 14/03/2019 11:09

@surferjet and others get very annoyed if Remainers talk to each other about how angry or pissed off they are.

surferjet · 14/03/2019 11:09

So, would you support banning uneducated poor people from voting?
This has been suggested numerous times by caring compassionate remainers.

bellinisurge · 14/03/2019 11:11

Nope. Of course I am in favour of universal suffrage. I am also in favour of better civic education in school. It's of course absolutely fine for people to have views that differ from mine. However, if you fail to come up with decent arguments that go past "feelings ", don't expect me to take it seriously.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/03/2019 11:15

I do not believe that someone who voted leave once are not good with words and their meanings ...i know people who voted leave once who are very good at that, and people who voted remain once who are shit at it Grin

But there are a number of posters on these boards who really really struggle...take a word and thrash the fucking thing to death

And I'll be honest...if someone had said to me that how i voted ONCE would mean that i would be told to leave the country, insulted, 'charged' with a crime which i belive still can mean the death party, accused of not being British and called a remainer for the rest of my natural life

I'd have laughed in their fucking faces

How wrong was i????

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/03/2019 11:16

Oh and im not angry as ive said

I just really like swearing Grin

PBo83 · 14/03/2019 11:21

Do Leavers really expect Remainers to be happy little bunnies?

Not at all. I'm fairly certain that those who voted to Leave would have been unhappy (some angry even) should the vote have gone the other way.

A thread to express you anger at how Brexit has been handled or even the result of the referendum is perfectly reasonable.

What isn't reasonable is the implication that more than 50% of the population are poorly educated, ignorant racists or incapable of making an informed decision.

Tiscold · 14/03/2019 11:24

I'm just getting more and more pissed off as the days progress, and more and more angry at the selfish people who don't recognise the destruction they're causing.

Leaving without a deal will be disastrous for the uk economy, and will affect the poorest the worst. Do you really think those millionaire parliamentarians are going to suffer? No, they can afford exepnsive fuel, visas to travel, can afford all their bills, private healthcare etc.

However the poor will get poorer, as tax revenue decreases, public funding decreases but prices go up.

ContinuityError · 14/03/2019 11:27

What isn't reasonable is the implication that more than 50% of the population are poorly educated, ignorant racists or incapable of making an informed decision.

I think you mean 37% of the electorate.

You might be disproving your own point there.

Tiscold · 14/03/2019 11:29

But it isn't more than 50 percent of the population, its more than 50 percent of the people that voted.

I think people have to realise that yes leave won, but you can't ignore such a large proportion of the electorate who supported remain and a compromise has to be reached. That compromise could have been canada plus plus or a number of other deals, but some extreme leave voters and mps scuppered the chance of that. So now we're in this mess, of leave without a deal or stay in. And i would much rather stay in then jump off a cliff without a parachute, and hope some other countries catch us before we crash and burn.

Tiscold · 14/03/2019 11:30

@ContinuityError. Beat me to it Grin
