Mine is up over 4%. I haven’t had a pay rise for 5 years now and these bills just keep going up and up. Gas and electric fixed deal up too and even with switching it is 20% higher than last year! I can see a time in the future when I won’t be able to afford to run a house and will have to houseshare or something. Not good aged 42!

Haven't got this year's bill yet but absolutely dreading it. It's already £150 a month and I struggle to afford that.

WreckTangled · 11/03/2019 19:00

We haven't had ours yet but dreading it. We're already struggling to pay any extras like school trips and clothes.

Ouch indeed 😬

NameChangeNugget · 11/03/2019 19:10

I thought there had to be a referendum if it was going up by more than 6%?

3.85% - £5 a month. It was frozen for several years before that; as it is the council have had to make lots of cuts. I think it's perfectly reasonable, although I understand that for some people any increase is difficult.

Plump82 · 11/03/2019 19:15

9.5%!!! My goodness that's some hike. Ours has gone up 3%.

Iltavilli · 11/03/2019 19:16

Council tax is a radically unfair tax, particularly given the rapid and fundamental changes in the property market since it was introduced.

cojmum · 11/03/2019 19:16

The email explaining the reasons said if 5% or more there had to be a local referendum or something.
translates to about £80 a year.

littlemeitslyn · 11/03/2019 19:19

It's horrendous and am on a pension ☹️

Auramigraine · 11/03/2019 19:19

Not had it yet but rumoured to be 5% from what a local councillor said......

GunpowderGelatine · 11/03/2019 19:20

Ours says 4.5% rise but our monthly payments have gone down by £10! I'm confused and need to call them

lovewatchingrainfall · 11/03/2019 19:23

5.95% it's awful. Cut so many resources too

ballsdeep · 11/03/2019 19:25
