Mine is up over 4%. I haven’t had a pay rise for 5 years now and these bills just keep going up and up. Gas and electric fixed deal up too and even with switching it is 20% higher than last year! I can see a time in the future when I won’t be able to afford to run a house and will have to houseshare or something. Not good aged 42!

5% now £252 a month..if I'm paying for services in my area then I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the resources to be available to get the job done. Like the recycling, taking the fucking glass and turning up on time. I'm so angry about this rise. Instead of the bastard Brexit shit show why can't we have a referendum on the council tax.

I really hope our wanker mps enjoy their latest pay rise. So fucking sick of this government and their poor ethics.

Wish we could have a government version of the hunger games.

wafflethewonderdog · 11/03/2019 20:43

Can't believe how much some of you have to pay. Shock
Wigan hasn't had an increase for the last 6 years.
Ours is £128 a month and that's band D!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 11/03/2019 21:00

9% in flintshire, north wales. No debate even though it's over 6% as that's only in England.

All because the welsh assembly decides what proportion of money goes where. Can you guess which counties have had an increase in funding and which have had a decrease? Ooh, the southern ones have gone up, the northern ones have gone down. And they wonder why the north hates the south!!

My council tax is £197 a month.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 11/03/2019 21:01

God almighty 9% not 4!!!

Houseonahill · 11/03/2019 21:18

MrsArchchancellorRidcully my 9.5% rise is north wales as well Welsh government are ridiculous at the minute and trying to apply for a reduction is like trying to do the MENSA test I've never tried to something so confusing and time consuming and the information they expect you to have to hand is Barmy.

Keeprisinghigher · 11/03/2019 21:35

9.5% would finish me off.

I need to get a second job I think.

No idea.My exh has sent me an email saying that my council(different to his ) have somehow sent my bill to him at his address.
We have been apart almost 3 years,he has never lived at this address.I am waiting for my day off to call them .At best this is adata breach ,good job he already knows my address and is not a danger to me

EatDessertFirst · 11/03/2019 21:43

£116 per month last year to £137 per month this yeah. Le sigh.

museumum · 11/03/2019 21:47

Ours is only 1.3% up. I feel it should be more. The council are on their arse. Everything is cut. The cost of delivering services is definitely up by more than that do in real terms it’s a cut. I know people are struggling but they’ll be struggling s lot more when the council are bankrupt 😢

anniehm · 11/03/2019 21:48

A lot, it's a crazy amount and only band e. Apparently multi million pound houses in London pay half of what we pay for far better services, 60% of houses here are band a and most people (71%) get reduced council tax so we pay so much to compensate!

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 11/03/2019 21:51

Ours is going up 2.75%

AsparagusSoup · 11/03/2019 21:51

Up £15 a month 😒

userxx · 11/03/2019 21:57

I'm shocked at some of these increases. Mines still coming in at under £100, just.

Jam82 · 11/03/2019 22:00

Anniehm same here. I think we might live in same area

Fluffyears · 11/03/2019 22:03

4.9%

BackforGood · 11/03/2019 23:19

4.99% here - but I suppose it is only comparative if we were paying similar amounts in the first place.

I'd rather have to be paying a 10% increase on a £120 bill, than a 5 % increase on a £240 bill........

CatchingBabies · 11/03/2019 23:42

Mine breaks it down separately so some aspects have stayed the same, police has gone up by 13%. Overall it’s an extra £32 a month bringing the total to £254 a month. Absolutely unaffordable on my NHS wages that haven’t gone up in 10 years but what can you do? And it’s because my new build house is apparently valued as a band E despite the fact I only own 25% of it because we couldn’t afford anymore than that. House value isn’t a fair system when most people don’t and can’t afford to own the houses they live in anymore.

CatchingBabies · 11/03/2019 23:44

And because it’s a private estate and privately owned roads I pay privately for street repairs, bin collections etc. but still have to pay again in my council tax even though they won’t provide these services to me. Another point that drives me insane!

x2boys · 11/03/2019 23:46

Waffe.im only a few miles from you in Bolton mine is £117 Band A!

Runoutofgas · 11/03/2019 23:47

9.5%, black bins are only collected every 3 weeks and a generally poor service. Not happy!

Bellasorellaa · 11/03/2019 23:52

2.99

ineedaknittedhat · 12/03/2019 01:19

Ours has gone up by £10 a month. It's now £172/month.

ineedaknittedhat · 12/03/2019 01:20

Oh yeah, and the council removed our recycling boxes that the glass goes into.

ivykaty44 · 12/03/2019 06:20

Catchingbabies what would you base the council tax bands on if not house value?

Penners99 · 12/03/2019 06:56

£186 a month last year, £189 a month this year. So not a lot. East Yorkshire.
