I had to go out this afternoon. Before I went I said to DP that I would let him know when I was on the way home so that he could have a coffee ready for me. I called to let him know I'd be about ten minutes, thinking that he'd make it then so it would have cooled down a bit.

As I walked in he handed me the coffee straight away and, as I walked in I took a mouthful only to find it was scalding hot and I burned my mouth! I have reduced sensation in my hands and so I couldn't really tell from that. He'd literally just reboiled the kettle so it was super hot.

The thing that really annoyed me most was that he couldn't even say sorry and started accusing me of slamming doors instead. He made the mistake of reboiling the kettle but he can never accept any part of the blame for anything! AIBU?

M4J4 · 11/03/2019 16:04

I call reverse

ginandnappies · 11/03/2019 16:04

Hahahaha.

PinkHeart5914 · 11/03/2019 16:04

Do you really need us to tell you a coffee may be hot? Also don’t most people take a small first sip to see how hot the drink is?

Your evening meal may also be hot so maybe do can blow on the folk for you?

Justmuddlingalong · 11/03/2019 16:04

Perhaps in future get paid staff to do your bidding. Of course, you'll have to have the correct temperature in which they serve your coffee written into their contract. Or. Make your own fucking coffee.

Pippa12 · 11/03/2019 16:04

Hmm are you having a bad day or are you always like this?

adulthumanwolf · 11/03/2019 16:04

Reverse

NoWayNoHow · 11/03/2019 16:05

You sound awful.

FoxSquadKitten · 11/03/2019 16:06

Also, did you actually start slamming doors because your coffee wasn't at it's optimum temperature?

redwinegaga · 11/03/2019 16:06

You should be more specific with yours instructions? "Make me a coffee then blow on it to make sure it is the correct drinking temperature for me the second I walk in the door" should hopefully avoid it happening again Thanks

FooFighter99 · 11/03/2019 16:07

Everyone shouting "Reverse" makes me think of the ChaCha Slide Grin

OP, maybe next time you should just make your own brew when you get home... seeing as it takes all of 5 minutes Hmm

Byrytrain · 11/03/2019 16:07

Grin you asked for a coffee, he re boiled the kettle quite sensibly to make a hot coffee and you complain. I wouldn't apologise either and would think your taking the piss. Make your own coffee or check the temp before gulping it down.

ChodeofChodeHall · 11/03/2019 16:07

How DARE he make you a hot cup of coffee?

Fummin hun.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 11/03/2019 16:08

Has to be a reverse. No-one is this stupid.

Celebelly · 11/03/2019 16:08

Why would you take a mouthful of a hot drink without checking the temp first?! Surely everyone has a little test sip of a hot drink order to gauge temp?? I would never just gulp a mouthful without checking first!

Vehivle · 11/03/2019 16:09

I agree with everyone else here. You sound ridiculous and over pampered. Maybe you have a sense of entitlement because your reduced sensation thing? Either way - if I was nice enough to have complied with a request from DH to make him a coffee in advance - if he then proceeded to have a go at me because it was too hot and he'd burnt himself by foolishly gulping it. Firstly - I would never apologise. I would expect him to make an apology to me for his tactless wrongful blaming after I'd just done a nice favour for him. Secondly - I would never make him a coffee in advance ever again. Go and apologise to your husband for being such an ass and consider yourself very lucky if he ever makes you a coffee "on order" ever again.

MollysLips · 11/03/2019 16:10

LTB. This is abuse.

Sexnotgender · 11/03/2019 16:10

It’s not unreasonable to ask for a coffee.

It’s WILDLY unreasonable to be pissed that he made it just before you arrived so it was nice and hot and fresh.

You owe him a massive apology because you’v behaved like a dick.

ChodeofChodeHall · 11/03/2019 16:10

You should definitely take legal action. He should be fined for negligence and should be forced to print a warning on coffee cups.

macromolecule · 11/03/2019 16:10

I'm sorry, it is a reverse. I know how MN hates them but I had to know for sure that I am not going insane because I'm not sure which way is up anymore. I was the coffee maker, the coffee drinker is my OH.

Now I know everything I need to know.

Sorry again. :(

I've also got the cha cha slide in my head now too...

InsertFunnyUsername · 11/03/2019 16:11

OP did you know water is wet?

In all honesty its a lot of hoo ha for no reason, if i handed someone a cup of coffee and they complained it was hot id be Hmm too!

Sparklingbrook · 11/03/2019 16:12

I don't much like reverses.

MashedSpud · 11/03/2019 16:12

Maybe next time he should leave it by your throne and your food taster can check the temperature with their elbow.

Nicknacky · 11/03/2019 16:12

FFS, why do a reverse for this?

Just post normally.
