To be shocked BREXIT is going to affect cancer treatment?

cantbearsed1 · 06/03/2019 07:49

Just listening to the BBC radio news and they were interviewing an oncologist who said that because of worries about getting hold of enough isotopes straight after BREXIT, Drs have been advised by the Government to book less people into their clinics for both diagnosis and treatment.
This will mean longer waits for diagnosis and treatment from some patients. I was taken aback that such a serious medical issue is being affected.

Remainers are very pessimistic

Correct and I think they are not aware the consequences that may follow if Brexit does not happen such as:

France and Germany both say;

"Okay now that UK have admitted they are afraid to leave the EU we will increase your membership subscription. Also UK can pay for the unneeded disruption in the EU by changing their minds after almost 3 years of tinkering"

Wonder what that would amount to? More than 39 Billion I am sure.

So leave with No Deal and save the 39 Billion.

MardyBra · 06/03/2019 09:02

This is one of the many reasons I’ll be marching in London on the 23rd: www.peoples-vote.uk/march

Gintonic · 06/03/2019 09:02

Those saying this is old news, it isn't entirely - the bit that is new is that cancer patients will be affected now whatever the scenario. So even if there is a deal or we extend the deadline or whatever, cancer patients will be waiting longer because clinics are having to prepare for the possibility of not having enough isotopes by booking in fewer people.

Attempted to block? Or just not agreed to terms that damage them? The EU have no obligation to offer us good leaving terms

Hence the reason to leave with No Deal

tisonlymeagain · 06/03/2019 09:03

I think I lot of people will be surprised. I work with a healthcare company who brings medicines like insulin and chemo drugs etc into the country. This is not scaremongering!

TheWomanin12B · 06/03/2019 09:03

"leave with No Deal and save the £39 billion"

What do you think the first item on the agenda at trade negotiations would then be?

I'll give you a clue - Pay us the money you agreed to pay us and then we will begin talks.

We will be in a position of unbelievable weakness and desperation if we walk away with No Deals.

MadAboutWands · 06/03/2019 09:03

Jobs might not have been lost yet - but they will be if we carry on as we are.
Actually I disagree. Jobs have already been lost.

Do you remember all the things said about how good it was that the Pound was weak(er) so it would increase exports?
And the surprised when actually what it did was the make us poorer (by £1500 each year) whilst exports stayed at the same level?
Bottom line is, if there is less money around for people to buy stuff, then companies are suffering and closing down/making people redundant.

I know mother it often feels like democracy isn’t working atm.

It’s still better than what some posters are suggesting
Which is basically, we’ve had ONE vote. You are not allowed to change your mind, point out any issues and you HAVE TO support us regardless of whether you agree or not and regardless of the outcome.
Because that is full on dictatorship.

SaturdayNext · 06/03/2019 09:06

Don't believe everything the BBC say, they are remainers so it's in their interest to scaremonger.

This is a serious level of stupidity. Just because it's scary doesn't mean that it's not absolute, copper-bottomed fact. It's not the BBC saying this, it is people in the NHS whose job it is to try to ensure the supply of the isotopes.

Smotheroffive · 06/03/2019 09:06

I was extremely concerned at the effect on the pound and stock market, interest rates and economic stability that was very loudly shouted about, which didn't happen, when predicted, maybe it will in 3 weeks

MissedTheBoatAgain · 06/03/2019 09:07

Have you not read about Honda, Nissan, all the car manufacturers either leaving next year or planning to?

EU has agreed a free trade deal with Japan to sell cars in EU without tariffs. That agreement was made Feb 2019. Hence no incentive for Japanese Car companies to have a base in the EU.

This was an advance Back stab by Germany as they stand to lose the sale of 15% of their total production as 15% if all German cars are sold in the UK.

Smotheroffive · 06/03/2019 09:08

Did you read saturday the pp commentary from the NHS?

HoustonBess · 06/03/2019 09:08

You can't have it both ways. Brexiters made out that the UK would regain power and sovereignty from Brexit. Then you say we're being pushed around by the EU. So we're either more powerful or we're not, which is it?

All this jingoistic nationalist crap doesn't wash with other countries - they're not going to give us more favourable trade terms than they have to, just because of some historic guff about the Empire and Spitfires.

MissedTheBoatAgain · 06/03/2019 09:09

One question to all the Remain Voters:

If EU are not afraid for UK to leave the EU why have they attempted to block UK's departure since the 2016 referendum?

JRMisOdious · 06/03/2019 09:09

Hilarious, the BBC are both remainers and brexiteers, apparently Grin

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 06/03/2019 09:10

Ahah! Very clever. So if Brexit has a negative impact on the British public, it is the fault of remainers. Not the fault of those who voted for Brexit

that's the joy of Brexit though - nothing is ever the Leavers fault. You can blame them Remoaners for everything Hmm

SaturdayNext · 06/03/2019 09:10

Actually I do believe the BBC are anti Brexit too and a lot of their so called stories are scaremongering. If someone has a different POV you can’t call them ignorant just because it’s not what you believe.

Flobochin, this isn't a different point of view, it is a different fact. Refusing to believe verifiable facts is certainly ignorant. In this case, if you don't believe the BBC, do you believe the College of Radiologists and the hospitals? If not, why not?

MissedTheBoatAgain · 06/03/2019 09:10

You can't have it both ways. Brexiters made out that the UK would regain power and sovereignty from Brexit. Then you say we're being pushed around by the EU. So we're either more powerful or we're not, which is it?

Sovereignty is only regained after leaving. May the remainer is allowing EU to cal the shots with silly suggestions like Back Stop in Ireland.

I just feel so sorry for all the people whose cancer diagnosis and treatment will be delayed.
It is such a stressful thing for anyone to go through anyway, this is the last thing they need.

I’ve been saying his for months. Brexiters are still telling me all is rosy. Can’t help hoping it’s them who are affected by this,

HoustonBess · 06/03/2019 09:12

@MissedTheBoatAgain

The EU hasn't attempted to block Brexit, I think a lot of countries are sick of it and would rather be shot of us quickly than give an extension for more dithering.

What they're not going to do is act contrary to members' interests such as Ireland. Because the EU works effectively in its members' interests. Which is why it's a good thing to be part of.
