To be shocked BREXIT is going to affect cancer treatment?

cantbearsed1 · 06/03/2019 07:49

Just listening to the BBC radio news and they were interviewing an oncologist who said that because of worries about getting hold of enough isotopes straight after BREXIT, Drs have been advised by the Government to book less people into their clinics for both diagnosis and treatment.
This will mean longer waits for diagnosis and treatment from some patients. I was taken aback that such a serious medical issue is being affected.

But not a political party. It didn't have a manifesto in the way that parties do. It's sole purpose was to convince peoople to vote leave.

Tiredand · 07/03/2019 17:51

All this was in the small print if people bothered to research it when they voted. Those with private medical (generally remainers in my experience) will be better off than others.

Annewilko4 · 07/03/2019 18:03

One of the many things people weren't told about prior to the referendum. But yaaah we have blue passports.

Maryschu · 07/03/2019 18:20

The Brexiters are not aware of the consequences before they voted Brexit .They were misinformed by the policians .

IceRebel · 07/03/2019 18:40

Was GFA approved internationally? I thought it was Deal made between the English and Irish governments?

Hmm If I ever find myself unsure of facts, I either educate myself or stay quiet. I've found it works much better than spouting uneducated statements, especially if you're trying to look informed and knowledgeable about a topic.

dustyparadeground · 07/03/2019 18:42

34 pages ...wow! I'm surprised that everyone's so surprised, it was always going to be a shitstorm but yaaah I've got my country back (sarcasm)

SparklySneakers · 07/03/2019 19:41

Is @mcnaughtyf on a day off?? It's very quiet! Or have they been banned?Grin

themoomoo · 07/03/2019 20:03

But yaaah we have blue passports

Tobythecat · 07/03/2019 20:13

The next person to mention blue passports or sunlit uplands gets a smack on the head with my massive frying pan

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/03/2019 20:23

toby

God it's tempting

frumpety · 07/03/2019 20:23

Majorities eh missed ? the only numbers anyone needs to understand in this debacle are 650 MP's will decide the fate of 66.85 million people. That is democracy in this country. Lets hope those 650 remember it is Country first, constituents second and party third, given that nearly 50 million people of the population of the UK didn't vote for this Smile

NotBeforeCoffee · 07/03/2019 20:40

Not at all surprised, the whole things fucking stupid and we don’t produce medical supplies

PotteryLottery · 07/03/2019 21:03

Leavers hate immigrants so much they'd rather die of cancer.

llizzie · 07/03/2019 21:46

Isn't it amazing how people believe everything without question? When we leave the EU you can produce evidence that cancer patients are being neglected and going untreated. Until that happens we ought to concentrate on what is happening now and not what might be.

Why is there so much angst against Brexit? It was a democratic decision and if we start changing those we cease to be a democratic society. As concerns what goes on with Westminster: if your boss came to you and said all the company's rules and laws are changing and you have to read and inwardly digest whole files of stuff and change so much and still carry on with your normal day's work whether in the office or off site, how would you feel? I suppose you cannot help but feel sorry for the army of civil servants who, after having most of the decisions made in Brussels so all you needed was a rubber stamp, but that is not good enough reason for them to confuse us and Parliament.

SparklySneakers · 07/03/2019 21:48

Isn't it amazing how people believe everything without question?

Oh, the irony!

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 07/03/2019 21:54

It was a democratic decision and if we start changing those we cease to be a democratic society.

There hasn't been a whole lot of respect for democracy demonstrated by May and her government over the past couple of years. Just in case you hadn't noticed.

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 07/03/2019 21:58

Only in December May's government was the first government to be found in contempt of parliament. But it made barely a ripple. Because brexiters don't actually give a stuff about true democracy.

SaturdayNext · 07/03/2019 22:29

It was a democratic decision and if we start changing those we cease to be a democratic society.

Like the democratic decision we made in 2015 to elect a 5 year government? That lasted a long time, didn't it?

And how does a democratic decision based on a more extensive fact base to change an earlier non-fact-based democratic decision conceivably render us undemocratic?

manicmij · 07/03/2019 22:44

Wasn't there some statement only a week ago by some EU official that measures were being taken to ensure that medicines from the EU were not delayed and that they will not be delayed at Calais. Listened to a neurology expert only tonight and he expressed his concern about what COULD happen IF medicines etc were not available. Not what will happen and that medicines will not be supplied. He chose his words carefully

crosstalk · 07/03/2019 22:50

I wonder where David Cameron is now? It's clear most of the scientists and medical establishment didn't believe the vote for Brexit wouldn''t happen but why the hell didn't they speak up at the time? Where were the transport giants warning? Why are they only speaking now? Why are we run by numpties who couldn't negotiate their way out of a paper bag

RedToothBrush · 07/03/2019 22:51

Blue passports?

Why can't we just pick our favourite colour cover? In 2019 we have the technology for it.

I want a racing green passport.

bellinisurge · 07/03/2019 22:53

I had a blue passport. Meh.

SparklySneakers · 07/03/2019 22:54

I think I'd like purple, or maybe a midnight blue, with speckles like stars. Or pillar box red. Hot pink. Bright colours would make them easier to locate in the drawer.

prettybird · 07/03/2019 22:57

I want a tartan passport with a Saltire and unicorn on the front Wink

winkywonky · 07/03/2019 23:00

Old news. We always knew it was going to be an absolute fucking shitstorm. Even worse being Scottish and having to go down on a sinking ship thanks to English voters. Funny how nobody now really even admits to being a leave voter after beating their fucking racist drum pre vote. Sorry, rant over Hmm
